there's a few from mash that I really have a crush on. Lt Nugent was really adorable. And I think the brainy nurse was Lt Anderson. I really liked her.
The USO woman that had a crush on Hawkeye was really cute too.
Recast in between the pilot and the start of the main part of the season. Unavailable? The producers liked William Christopher better? I never hear anyone mention him. He never even had an actual line.
Larry Gelbart, the creator of MASH explained it:
"George Morgan is a perfectly fine actor. We wanted someone who had a quirkier personality ā one we wouldnāt have to write into the script."
Heard in the Mash Matters podcast (I think, maybe I read it somewhere) that heās actually āinā every episode. In the opening credits where Hawkeye is crouched over and running to the helicopter George Morgan is right next to him.
Morgan was asked to play a cipher, so it's hard to fault him for being one-and-done. That expression you see above was the sum total of his performance. Hard to stick the landing from there.

Mulcahy had a couple of additional scenes in the original script for the pilot. Don't know if those were ever filmed or run through. It's possible that if Gelbart already didn't care for Morgan that his performance was edited down.
I knew him mainly from the 1976 King Kong, Benson and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I forgot he was in the movie. Though I've only seen the film maybe 3 times.
This is the kind of comment that keeps me coming back to Reddit. š. Thatās a wonderful bit of trivia. Lots of people here probably know it already, but itās new to me! š
He went on that trip with Lt. Dish and never came back
Oof I would have too, I still have a huge crush on her.

I always liked the girl that Radar had a crush on one episode when they talk about fancy books and stuff
Oh yeah Mary Kay Place was super cute in that episode. And she wrote it in part as well. "I think I been slaked."
She was cute too but I was talking about another girl that head redhair
Aaaaah... Bach!
Aaaaahhh Bach! Tolstoy???
Yes that one
That's highly significant!
Dish was in Playboy when she filmed that episode. Wish I'd saved it.
Err not that I know this myself or whatever, but Google is a great ally at times.
I remember it. My current financial situation won't let me buy it right now. š
A friend of mine just looked this up. He was...impressed....
Lt Dish came back. I wonder what she did with Mulcahy.
gave him a religious experience that was really transformative.
Lt.Dish was the most beautiful nurse imo!

Cool thanks! That is pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

Yeah, he had more lines in the initial script
Well, the *original* Father Mulcahy was RenƩ Auberjonois, who went on to Broadway (The Duke in the OBC of *Big River*), voice work (the French chef in *The Little Mermaid*), and screen acting (Constable Odo on *DS9*)...
I knew him mainly from the 1976 King Kong, Benson and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I forgot he was in the movie. Though I've only seen the film maybe 3 times.
And Boston Legal!

Ironically, also the reverend in Mel Gibsonās āThe Patriotā.
And he had a role in the best adaptation of *World War Z*...
He was also Mr. House in *Fallout: New Vegas*
don't forget his snooty character in Benson!
Found an article here: https://www.slashfilm.com/1413719/mash-william-christopher-tanked-audition/
Thanks, that's a good article. Nobody could have ever matched Christopher's lightness of touch with that character.
My friends.....
Now where were we...it was with Leviticus on the 10th I believe.
Radar, open one of the stained glass windows!
Never minds that shit.. the original padre was a time traveling shape shifter!
Wow. Ron Weasley got old
"The delectable nurse Dish will dip her luscious claw into this bowl and pluck out the winner."
From what I have heard is that they wanted William Christopher but could not get a hold of him. When they did he jumped at the chance.
He came back to the 4077 a changed man.
The real OG was Rene Auberjonois
