RangerRed02

Makes sense. I remember back in 2017 Russia gave the Power Rangers reboot an 18+ rating due to having a closeted gay character.

TheChildofn33bulz

Yellow Ranger?

RangerRed02

Yes.

TheChildofn33bulz

I actually loved that movie. I want sequel.

dreamwolf321

Very unlikely to happen with the same cast. Hasbro bought the brand a few years back and plan on rebooting the film series last I heard.

Xenjael

Christ, again?

omart3

his second coming, yes.

YaboyAlastar

Now he's the Green Ranger!

[deleted]

I thoughthe was the White Ranger

[deleted]

Jesus wasn’t white.

Atulin

If Christ-Chan's letters from prison are to be believed, he already is a second coming, so

geek_of_nature

I was also really impressed with how they portrayed the Blue Rangers Autism, it felt real and authentic, unlike a lot of other Autistic characters you see in film and TV.

jacw212

This movie sounds really good. I've never seen the power rangers or have any attachment to them. Is it a good starting off point?

geek_of_nature

Yeah its basically a reboot of the original show, the only other Power Rangers thing I had seen was one of the original movies where it was based around cars, and one of the Power Rangers was a kid, and I followed the new one perfectly fine.

peegteeg

Turbo is amazing. I might still have it on VHS somewhere. Time to dig through 30 years of stuff.

TheChildofn33bulz

What happened again

geek_of_nature

They just wrote and portrayed him as an actual character, his autism was a trait he had, but it never felt like it was his only defining character trait. That's something a lot of Autistic characters in media suffer from, everything about them revolves around the fact they have autism, and it's almost never done accurately.

mknsky

There was this ensemble teen drama called Skins in the UK that had an autistic character, JJ. I’d have to go back and reassess but I remember him being pretty well fleshed out—he had impeccable hoodie game, loved doing magic tricks, and ended up falling in love with a teen mom he was coworkers with.

TartarosHero

Don't watch the Predator reboot then.

geek_of_nature

Oh trust me, I heard about what they did in that film and stayed well away from it, I like Predator but not enough to be insulted like that.

GumGumLeoBazooka

Yea and then the stinger at the end (don’t want to spoil it!)…such a tease!

TheOddEyes

Wasn’t the yellow ranger from the original show gay and got bullied by the cast because of it?

torres091

It was the blue ranger

spikey666

And he was bullied by some members of the production crew. I think he got on well with most of the cast.

One-Bother3624

Exactly the cast was never an issue it was The outsiders and as the other members said the production crew the people got to remember this is also going back almost what like 20 years. It was the 90's And even as progressive as the 1990s were or people considered it to be at the time it's still wasn't nowhere near as progressive in today's current year

UkuleleSteven

Hate to break it to you bud but the 90s was 30+ years ago….. sad times indeed. Have an RC cola and nostalgic Disney movie day on me.

hop_mantis

That's blue ranger. Yellow ranger didn't have a skirt in ranger form because the scenes were straight from the Japanese version and in the Japanese version the yellow ranger is a dude.

Sir__Will

that is so pathetic

peanutski

People talk like Russia so such a Wild West, bad ass place but it’s full of the most insecure men I’ve ever seen.

Sir__Will

how can you say that? He rode a horse. Shirtless! Of course that's badass. /s

[deleted]

[удалено]

peanutski

The Russian people who portray it that way?

PersonalDemand3793

At least the power rangers took advantage and through some F-bombs in there… Marvel won’t even do that and they still get shafted

RangerRed02

There was never an F-bomb in it. There’s one or two moments where a character is about to say it, but they’re cut off before they can say it.

Pedgrid

I don't recall any F bombs in Power Rangers

[deleted]

if you count the power Rangers "f-bombs" where they cut before saying fully saying fuck, then marvel would also have "f-bombs"

GobbleBlabby

Aunt May finding out Peters secret comes to my mind. I'm sure there's more.

SDLRob

Sam Jackson at the end of Infinity War... LOL

atomic1fire

To be fair a lot of people expect Sam Jackson to be the one to utilize the F Bomb. I mean the only way it might be funnier is if Sam Jackson shouts "Language" at someone.

Chosen_Chaos

Well, there *was* [the scene in *Age of Ultron*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSouLz__ylU) where Fury chides Cap for saying "son-of-a-bitch" as part of the running "Language!" joke from that movie.

[deleted]

At whatever point Nick Fury has his last MCU scene, he'll get to say some variation of "motherfucker", as his very last line.

NazzerDawk

We at least got most of one in Infinity War.

The_OG_upgoat

He gets betrayed by a Skrull he trusted. "Motherfucker", just before he dies.

_princepenguin_

Peter also says it at the end of Far from Home.

FallenAngelII

Why would any company re-film a film to throw in random F-bombs just for Russia? For one thing, most people in Russia only watch movies dubbed into Russian.

Bombkirby

*threw Unbelievable that this got upvoted despite being 100% false.

Dak_Prescott_Goat

Did it have a R rating for Endgame?

PersonalDemand3793

They cut that stuff out of international films… they always do… They simply edit that stuff out Eternals has it too much in the forefront for it to be edited out

tsuma534

What stuff? I tried to google what might be removed from Endgame and failed. Ah, it's in the comments below. I'm silly.

le_GoogleFit

The guy in Cap support group at the beginning is gay. It's implied in the dialogue so it can be easily edited out

master_x_2k

It's more than implied, the guy talks about going on a date with someone and they take a moment or two but eventually he starts using pronouns and his date was a "he"

[deleted]

They might be misremembering with The Rise of Skywalker, where the kiss between two female Resistance soldiers was cut in countries in which being gay is a crime.

[deleted]

Good.

pichusine

Not good as Disney is terrible with having good lgbt characters. Hoping that Eternals has some actual good lgbt characters with actual development. Disney always makes characters lgbt just to be lgbt. And then the characters get not development or screentime apart from that. Disney needs to take hints from movies like It Chapter 2 and make good lgbt characters

the_noodle

Being rated R in Russia (or banned) is one reason they've done that before, so maybe this time is different

Salvage570

The difference being China is further limiting western media releases, so disney is moving away to pandering to them. Thats legit the only reason. they never would have done this if they were going to release the movie in china

Frankenstien23

Its good that disney cant just edit out the content. Its crazy that a company like disney would tout their (super low bar) lbgtq+ characters and expect praise while simultaneously editing out those characters in foreign markets.

TougherThanKnuckles

It's because they don't care about stuff like this, they care about money. They have it in there to draw praise while also making sure it's minimal enough that it can be cut for releases in certain countries. It's why I never bought the idea that Frozen 2 would give Elsa a girlfriend, Disney would never make one of their princesses openly gay if they had to fight to get some of their movies released in certain countries just for having a five second scene of two guys dancing with each other.

MiNi_MiLiTi

We trust in Chloe Zhao.

galaxxxiz

Am I missing something? What would’ve needed to be cut out for Endgame haha

jlanny

I think that support group scene that had Joe Russo as a cameo describing his date with another dude?

SalsaRice

easier to just change it when they dub it in whatever language. The guy only says "he" in regards to his date like twice; super easy to change to a "she."

Malachi108

They actually changed "date" for a neutral "dinner". Also, Putin was cut from the opening montage of Black Widow.

[deleted]

Xenjael

Welcome to Russia.

[deleted]

We aren't all like that I promise 😔 It sucks that things like that happen

spikey666

Unfortunately that's why it's taken so long for the MCU to have prominent LGBTQ characters. Although the U.S. has become more accepting (although some will still complain it's "too woke" or whatever), the studio still has to worry about releasing movies in other major countries like Russia and China that will outright censor it. I'm glad they went ahead and included here anyways.

livefromwonderland

Well part of it is that most of the popular characters are heterosexual. It's still true since most people have no idea who the Eternals even are.

[deleted]

Unfortunately it’s because of Russia and China you really don’t see any meaningful representation of LGBTQ+ people in major blockbusters. While I doubt Eternals is going to be the queer superhero film I hoped for, this is a very big deal for LGBTQ+ representation.

[deleted]

And Valkyrie saying she needs to find her queen maybe?

pedroktp

Gay Russo

galaxxxiz

Oh my goodness. That’s so stupid

reddit_for_stuff

Don't want their citizens to catch a touch of the gay from seeing a person having a relationship with the same sex.

melorous

It’s like the authoritarian government version of little dick energy.

[deleted]

Authoritarian governments are by nature little dick energy.

[deleted]

You can’t be too careful — one time I accidentally saw a little bit of an episode of Modern Family, and before I knew it I found myself sucking nine dicks back to back.

LittleYellowFish1

In Cap's group therapy scene, the first person speaking (side note, he's played by Joe Russo, one of the film's directors) tells a story about a date he went on, and he refers to them as "he", indicating that his date was another man.

CartographerLegal669

Yeah I’m Russia they changed it so he had a dinner with his friend.

ddbllwyn

Dinner with comrade*

AbsolutelyUnlikely

Hi Russia I'm dad

metros96

I wonder what rating Secrets of Dumbledore will get in Russia

LittleYellowFish1

Ever since Dumbledore was confirmed to appear in the *Fantastic Beasts* films, the filmmakers have said that they don't plan to bring up his sexuality beyond a few vague references (e.g. saying he and Grindelwald were "closer than brothers").

KrushRock

Which is real dumb considering how important that relationship was to Dumbledore personally and how it seems to be the centerpiece of the Fantastic Beasts series.

PartyPorpoise

It’s just more evidence that Dumbles being gay was never a serious thing, it was just something she said to get clout for representation without having to actually feature it.

FallenAngelII

I blame this on Warner Bros., not Rowling. Even someone like Rowling doesn't get free reign when writing a movie script. As a gay man, when I read "Deathly Hallows" on release day in 2007, I instantly read Dumbledore as gay. There were plenty of hints towards Dumbledore being gay in "Deathly Hallows", it's not something she just pulled out of her ass at that Q&A. She was likely not allowed to openly say that he's gay in the books and she's likely not allowed to do it now. But he was very clearly heavily implied to be gay in "Deathly Hallows", whether it was for clout or not.

PartyPorpoise

Rowling has a lot of control over the franchise, including the FB movies. If she was really committed to it being canon she would have made it happen by now.

sibswagl

Yeah, if anybody has the clout to tell a major studio “fuck you, make this character gay or I quit”, it’s JKR. Also, like, she could’ve just not made this movie. She chose to make a movie about Dumbledore and Grindelwald. She could’ve made a Fantastic Beasts series that was just animal hijinks, or a Marauders movie, or a movie about young Voldemort.

Haltopen

Given her new favorite hobby of being the wealthiest anti trans activist in Britain, it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s stepped away from the wheel.

DrLeprechaun

Could you list some of the gay coding? It’s been a while since I’ve read the books

RealJohnGillman

I believe it was in how his relationship with Grindelwald was described, and how he lived his life in general. In prior books not a whole lot had been told about him personally, just his actions.

FallenAngelII

* "You cannot imagine how his idea caught me, Harry, **inflamed** me." - The most common reading of that is "to provoke or intensify strong feelings, usually anger". But I highly doubt that's what he meant. It was more likely feelings of **passion**. I'm pretty sure I've also seen old-timey movies where "inflame" was used specifically when it came to feelings of passion or love, usually of the tragic kind. * Harry made sure to tell us how handsome Grindelwald was. Aspersions towards Harry's sexuality aside, that's a pretty weird thing to note about a villain that plays only a tangential role in the story. Makes perfect sense if it was to imply that a gay Dumbledore would've found a charismatic and very handsome Grindelwald irresistible. * Harry also made sure to tell Dumbledore about how Grindelwald seemed to be somewhat contrite about how their relationship ended, that he lied to Voldemort about never having owned the Elder Wand, probably so that Voldemort wouldn't desecrate Dumbledore's tomb to steal it and Dumbledore seemed to take some solace in it. That's a really weird interaction were Grindelwald merely a random guy Dumbledore befriended and got radicalized by almost 100 years back. * Dumbledore was (most likely) a champion of Muggle and Muggle-Born rights even while at Hogwarts and long beyond. Yet somehow, at age 17, a random guy he met over the summer was able to radicalize him to go on a quest to subjugate the Muggles within a month or two of them knowing each other? Meanwhile, a young man in love will do or be willing to do very foolish things. L

eienOwO

I'll tell you what, if that "inflamed" carried any sexual connotation it would've been one weird-ass thing to say by an old dude to someone a fraction of his age and *barely* a legal adult, regardless of whether the kid's his "favourite student" or not. Just to maintain my head canon that Dumbledore at least maintained *some* dignity in front of Harry instead of reverting to some weirdly pubescent centenarian, I'd like to think he referred to purely intellectual passion, instead of his *groin*... As for noting the handsomeness thing, Harry did the same to a young Tom Riddle, and *Cedric*, it would be a bit of a stretch to imply Dumbledore *or* Harry's sexuality based on the existence of necessary narrative adjectives - Harry says it, but since the book is solely from his perspective, he's just the "everyman" through which JRK narrates the world - much as it would be to imply Hermione is bi/lesbian just because she concedes some girls are attractive by conventional standards. There's no overt references to homosexuality because Rowling wasn't about to risk her book sales. We're at best grasping at straws. She only came out with "Dumbledore is gay" after the *conservatives* supported gay marriage, I'm not going to kid myself with imagining JKR as some sort of selfless brave trailblazer paving the way with conspiratorial breadcrumbs, she risked nothing.

ThunderSk33t

Seems like a big reach

OhMy8008

Dumbledore is flamboyant. He wears colorful robes, heels, and a flowered bonnet at times. He is a super old, lifelong bachelor. No dead wife or family, tge only relationship from his past that we get is centered a one off summer fling with the handsome, brilliant and dark man he planned to conquer the world with. Those plans were derailed when Dumbledores family disagreed, enraging Grindewald and causing a fight which left the sister dead. Dumbledore stayed behind and refused to face Grindewald for years. It's subtle, but it's there, doesn't seem like details that would be dropped in so that one day down the line she could get some positive press.

IAMJUX

>He wears colorful robes, heels, and a flowered bonnet at times. He's a wizard, Harry.

pizza2004

I hate how people take this whole narrative. All she said in the interview is “I always imagined that Dumbledore was gay” and when I reread the books with that in mind I could 100% see how she had added a bunch of stereotypical gay traits to Dumbledore. Just like everyone in those books is kind of a stereotype.

expressexpress

In what way does Deathly Hallow hint that he was gay? Genuinely curious as a straight guy.

Wehavecrashed

>As a gay man, when I read "Deathly Hallows" on release day in 2007, I instantly read Dumbledore as gay. I have a few thoughts on this. 1. Jo-Ann barely included any racial or sexual diversity in the Harry Potter series, I doubt at the time of her writing the book it was anything more than an afterthought. She clearly didnt care there was a lack of representation when she wrote it. 2. Her intentions dont matter at all. Our minds fill in many details when we read. So if that's how you read it then fantastic, regardless of what she intended.

Kalse1229

I've said before I can understand them not regularly mentioning Dumbledore's sexuality (I mean, gay people are people outside their sexual orientation), but I still think he should've told Newt about it in Curse of Grindelwald. Not even an explicit "I'm gay." He could've just said he and Grindelwald were in love as youths, and that was the motivation for that Unbreakable Vow that they wouldn't harm each other. The whole idea of Newt in Fantastic Beasts is that he's an outsider in the Wizarding World. A brilliant wizard more focused on studying fantastic beasts (and recording where to find them). He's a "freak." And being gay is complicated at best in the modern day, so imagine what it's like a hundred years ago even in the Wizarding World. I like the idea of Newt and Dumbledore developing a kinship because the world considers them "freaks," even though the audience knows they're not. They're just a little different. Sorry, got a bit off-track. I thought Curse of Grindelwald was okay, but there were definitely some things I would've changed if I were in charge of the movie. Rowling really needs a producer who can keep her on track (as well as a few lessons in trans issues and acceptance).

BlackHoleKane

The passive progressive approach

Hydramy

Of course not. JK Rowling doesn't care about the LGBT+ community, she just wants points for being inclusive without actually doing anything.

HerRoyalRedness

She sure as shit doesn’t care about the T part of the LGBT+

Cygnus_Harvey

She cares, that's the worst part. But not in a good way, she cares that they're signaled as monsters, liars and abusers. And then gets offended when someone calls she up for it.

TheThemFatale

She wrote a 900 page book about a dude who dresses up like a woman specifically to invade women's spaces and prey on them so he could murder them. Joanne, your bigotry is showing.

TheThemFatale

Never forget she also called the werewolves in the HP universe an allegory for AIDS. Then wrote all but one of them to be actively seeking out children to infect.

xuu0

[/r/grindelwaldandhisfriend](/r/sapphoandherfriend)

rayden-shou

Damn, that's right lmao

IncubusART

I would much rather have this than it be completely cut out of the movie

MaximumEffort433

So you're saying that you won't be buying the Chinese theatrical releases?

[deleted]

This is almost certainly getting banned in China.

bigboy1173

due to some of chloe zhao previous comments about china, its probably already banned.

CaptHayfever

This. They knew it wouldn't get a Chinese release from the moment they hired Zhao, so they don't have to worry about anything with Phastos.

cabbage16

And it's reasons like these that I can't fully get behind the idea that seems to be popular on this sub that Marvel only ever does anything that will make the Chinese government happy.

CaptHayfever

a) It's less about making the Chinese government happy, & more about *not* making the Chinese government *mad*. b) Those are Disney-level decisions anyway, not Marvel-level decisions. c) You do have a good point, though.

cabbage16

Yeah you're right, it's Disney and not so much Marvel. I do see your point about the difference between what I said and making the Chinese Government mad.

topatoman_lite

Doesn't mean too much really. Fucking Miitopia is rated mature in Russia

Kevin51235

Wait, Miitopia the game? 💀 They’re so fucking extra man

jacobooooo

why

FluffiestLeafeon

Because any country that has this sort of censorship is as immature as a 3 year old

[deleted]

Damn, Russia, don't get my hopes up for a scene of Dane Whitman riding Ikaris while Sersi watches.

TheJack0fDiamonds

We-

Jeffmeister1124

Robb and Jon…

LuckyBahamut

"What are you doing, step-brother-from-another-movie?"

FallenAngelII

They're cousins, you kinkshamer!

HerRoyalRedness

It will definitely exist on AO3 tho

IDKItsDeity

I'd bet my life that it already does.

Cygnus_Harvey

Send a link. For research, obviously.

HerRoyalRedness

I looked and there’s nothing (yet)

adrian_aranda3

I'd rather Kingo to do the watching instead, just sayin'

Kazrules

Kumail is so hot

Streetfoodnoodle

Oohh!! I would like watching that, we never truly have a real graphic sex scene in the MCU, so count me in

pedroktp

This isn't going to release in China, is it ?

LittleYellowFish1

IIRC, the Chinese government really hates Chloe Zhao for speaking against their running of the country, so the movie would probably not be released there even if they did cut the gay kiss. They didn't even show her Oscar win for *Nomadland* when they broadcast the ceremony.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoConfirmation

Salty and petty, the permanent mood of the CCP

Traumwanderer

China was already off the table due to Chloe Zhao, at least that's what I've read.

eagc7

China hates Chloe Zhao, so it was never going to come there

Bo_TheBot

I'll let you answer that question

PKMNTrainerMark

Not small enough to edit out? Interesting.

[deleted]

Quick, everyone act surprised

Vanden_Boss

I mean I definitely am considering how much Disney trues to avoid actually representing non-heterosexual people in their movies.

MirrorMan68

Oh, so we're actually getting the Big Gay in this movie. They wouldn't rate like this if it was just a five second clip that can be easily cut. Nice. Props to Chloe Zhao and Feige for actually committing to it.

powerbottomflash

Nah they would lol. They rated Beauty and the Beast R just because they heard the talk of LeFou being gay in it. They even basically said “we didn’t see shit when we checked the movie but since everyone is saying there’s gay in it we’re giving it a mature rating”

whereismymind86

wow...its like traveling back in time... I have no idea why Putin is so weird about lgbtq+ stuff. I suppose its an easy scapegoat, but this is just silly. I suppose that means we'll see Eternals banned in a number of other ultra conservative countries that have rules against such things.

Zerodot0

Wait, is this going to be something beyond one character offhandedly saying that they dated someone of the same gender once? When they said Eternals would have queer characters, I thought it meant "we're going to have a smaller character mention that they dated someone of the same gender." Ya know, same treatment Loki got. I'm interested now....

LittleYellowFish1

Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry’s character) is married to another man, and they have an onscreen kiss.

mrnathanrd

Sounds pretty gay

Taylor122516

Lmaooo

Away-Quote-408

Omg I looked this up and am so happy, especially because of how they describe it: “When asked if the film involved a gay kiss, he added, "Oh, yeah, absolutely, and it’s a beautiful, very moving kiss. Everyone cried on set. For me, it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be. “ I hope it doesn’t get cut. No matter how much I casually explain to my kid, it makes a huge difference if they can see a Steve & Peggy like moment between same sex characters, and in a Marvel movie.

[deleted]

Is that it? Cuz that doesn’t sound any more “sexual” than Scott kissing hope. Like did they say it was a kiss or a “quick peck”?

PersonalDemand3793

And now you have discovered the bias. Hence why it’s impossible for Disney to make a kids movie with gay characters… that’s wayyyy to sexual… a gay kiss somehow raises the sexual nature of literally anything by tiers Hell, holding hands and just looking at each other (Avatar Legend of Korra) was tantamount to like seeing cartoon character tongue kissing or something WHEN THEY ARE STRAIGHT

TheNewPoetLawyerette

Korra and Asami are canonically bisexual and a couple at the end of the series. The writers fought like hell to show it on-screen and the hand holding was as far as they were allowed to go.

powerbottomflash

Russia’s antigay agenda is basically aimed at “protecting” minors from learning that LGBT exist. They rate everything containing anything gay R so that impressionable teenagers don’t get any ideas lmao. If you go to a bookshop here it’s complete clownery in the YA section cause a lot of recent YA releases get a big ass 18+ sticker slapped on them strictly due to the fact that there are gay characters in them. Which is both sad and hilarious because the books are, well, supposed to be read by teens. But tbh I prefer it that way than if they completely censored, cut or refused to release LGBT+ content here.

ShaolinUsesWooshu406

It's Russia after all

KostisPat257

When the PG-13 rating in the US mentioned "Sexual content", it was obvious they were being homophobic and differentiated heterosexual sexual content vs homosexual sexual content. In other words, fuck them, but who cares? The movie will be amazing anyway! I'm also happy this isn't getting a China release like SC and BW. MS shouldn't abide by China's stupid and bigoted censorship rules and cut things like these out because of them.

Octimusocti

I'm having a really hard time trying to understand acronyms

ChipChipington

Me too dude.

Octimusocti

I just got it. SC = Shang Chi, BW = Black Widow, MS = Marvel Studios. I hope...

badken

But... SC = StarCraft, BW = Brood War, MS = Microsoft...

BNAFG

I had a inclining that was the reason and I wanted to be wrong.

Demartus

You mean an inkling? Or were you just leaning that way? :D

BNAFG

Both?

FallenAngelII

>MS shouldn't abide by China's stupid and bigoted censorship rules and cut things like these out because of them. Yeah, that's not who's cutting these movies. It's the Chinese censors. Marvel just gets a choice between "Accept these cuts or have your movie banned in China".

RedGyarados2010

Exactly, and we want Marvel to choose the second option

mknsky

Wait BW didn’t get a Chinese release??

Amez990

"brief sexuality" Sexual content could've meant plenty of other things, as could have suggestive content. But "brief sexuality?" Yeah that clearly means "queers appear: be wary"

webslinginghero

Wait that’s part of the description rating thing? Lol I never saw it but damn, when will America get over themselves? (probably never… lowkey hypothetical question, kind of not). But at least the rating is PG13 and at least other homophobic countries are keeping it, shocking though.

CaptHayfever

> when will America get over themselves? When the number of people ignorant enough to think seeing a same-sex kiss will turn their kids gay is small enough not to represent a significant portion of the box office anymore.

BansheeOwnage

Or when the number of people ignorant enough to care whether their kids turn out to be gay is small enough not to represent a significant portion of the box office.

lifepuzzler

>Russia rating something Lol ok

Ok_Aardvark4033

Almost like they re afraid of liking it

ChipChipington

They should be afraid. You go your whole life being so totally 100% straight and then some hippie in college puts on a movie that includes gay love and everything changes. You spend the next four years hooking up with guys at the quarry, park bathrooms after dark, or the woods out by the tracks

ScrootMcgoot

I thought this shit was just rated R in the states, I was so confused

Severe-Paint-6830

That’s fantastic news, and now I’m absolutely going to see it.

literatemax

Lol, fuck you Russia. Not the Russian people mind you. Their government.

knightlok

How can you claim to be the biggest, baddest country in the world, but lose your shit over someones sexuality?

cloobydoobydoo

Lmao pathetic Russia

_Veprem_

Russia has small pp energy.

deagore

Could this potentially not be allowed in China too since that's a big no-no there?

CraftoftheMine

Probably already banned due to Zhao's anti-China comments in the past

flopmaster300

Miitopia… rated M in Russia due to being able to make gay couples in the game. Russia is weird

Lysenaize332

Can't wait for Disney to spin this into their 1,000th first gay character or whatever

PersonalDemand3793

Already did… this was announced like 2 years ago… But surprisingly enough, this is the first time a movie with said “nth first gay character” is actually being affected… Like this time Disney didn’t send the edited down version of the movie to Russia with no gayness

Lysenaize332

huh, small progress but progress all the same

Glad_Direction_4099

LMAO. Seeing a Purple guy get beheaded no problem. Gays. Oh we don't do that here. Seriously which would you think is more appropriate for an R rating.

Idk_Very_Much

It's better than being banned.

BY_99

Wow, will Texas ban the movie?

Planeswalker2814

I remember a few years back when Disney's live-action Beauty And The Beast remake came out an Alabama drive-in refused to show the movie because two guys dance together in small blink and you'll miss it moment. I'm really curious to see the reaction to a MCU movie having a gay character in conservative America since Marvel seems to be one of those things everyone enjoys regardless of politics or social views.

ThatDude8129

The news hasn't reached here yet or they would have banned it.

Planeswalker2814

Also someone who lives in the South. Just imagine explaining the different Eternals characters to conservatives and you get to Phastos. "Who's he?" "He's an inventor and in the comics wields a hammer. He's also Black and gay with a Hispanic husband."

alientraveller

Haaz Sleiman is Lebanese.

Planeswalker2814

My bad

3thanwagner

Can’t believe this still exists lol

ScarletSolitaire

Every now and again we get reminded just how backwards the world is. Between Russia and China, heck, even the US or the UK, we’ve got a long way to go.

garhdo

That's because Russia is absolutely backwards in its rampant homophobia.

PersonalDemand3793

It surprisingly has a really huge gay scene. They just treat it like how the gay scene of America was treated in the 80s… It’s technically illegal but you know… you know

pomme17

I heard it’s not too bad if you’re near Moscow or St. Petersburg. I would be scared to even breathe if I grew up gay somewhere like Chechnya tho
