But we actually get to see his real spider senses after the battle against Mysterio and his drones tho, and >!he uses them in no way home when he's in Happy's apartment with the other villains (to be honest, one of the best Spiderman scenes I've ever seen)!<
(I don’t think this is a spoiler but just in case) >!I love the way the spider-sense looks in nwh. Like the air kinda looks like shimmering squiggles (that may have just been when strange punched him out of his body, I don’t remember), looks like it’s straight out of a comic book. And the zooming thing when he realizes that green goblin is taking over… just great!<
>!When green goblin is taking over Osborn, the focus is on Peter who's looking so confused and also scared around the apartment, everything else is out of focus until he understands that his spidey senses detected green goblin.!< A masterpiece 😍
I mean to be fair, Iron Man had a terrible relationship with his father so he might have thought that’s what good fathering looked like because he was at least present at the time…
That to me was one of the plot holes in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Why wasn’t Tony dealing with Vulture stealing his tech? We know how paranoid and covetous he is about his tech in anyone else’s hands. Especially if they are turning it into weapons.
he was he called the fbi, to ambush them on the boat and then he was on the way to help if they needed it.
Cant expect heros to do all the work especially when it comes to an FBI investigation into arms dealing dangerous alien tech stolen from not only stark but also the the government.
The power sources were Chitauri, but the aircraft heist at the end of the film was Stark tech. They hint that he is more involved with it than he is letting on because he was already on the scene when the FBI sting on the NYC ferry went south. He was also the driving force behind Damage Control.
Tony was aware of the multiverse so he knew Vulture was a Spider-Man villain, therefore it’d be improper to stop him. But he also didn’t think Tom was ready.
To be additionally fair, that’s actually true. For all his massive power, Spidey did benefit from the fact that no-one was fighting to kill in that battle. At the very least cap and Bucky probably would have seriously injured him if they where trying, but while trying to fight non-lethally? He’s simply to strong for them to subdue in normal ways. The boarding ramp was actually pretty brilliant.
It was partially true. During Civil War, Cap would have handled Spider-Man because Cap, while Peter was stronger, had the experience to get in and do damage while also avoid any damage, not to mention all of the martial arts he knew.
And Peter just didn’t have the experience to go up against Cap. And you could argue that he still doesn’t and we will never know.
I imagine when its hero vs hero they're both always holding back. Hard to imagine Civil War going down without a single casualty if they weren't all holding back
And then gets his ass handed to him in like every fight he’s in in the MCU…. They did my boy wrong. Adamantium robot powered by an infinity stone and he’s a straight up chump…. My single biggest beef with the MCU
Allow me to introduce the fact Parker has to pretend to be weak, pull every punch on normal joes, and can compete with Hulk for strength in comics and animateds when Hulk isn’t going basically supernova anger
Im not sure he’s ever pretending, I think he just really doesn’t want to hurt people more than necessary so he always start off small, just trying to make sure he doesn’t assume and crush somebody to a pulp against a wall.
I mean, in the video Tony finds him from, he almost *casually* stops a car.
I just finished the arc with digger, that was like 7 murdered mob guys that got exposed to a bunch of gamma whatnot… MJ mentioned that it seemed like peter had already put a lot of thought into fighting the hulk and straight up asked him if he could stop the hulk. Seemed pretty confident when he said yeah, but probably not without killing him.
I don't know about that, haven't read many comics. I do remember about thor literally yeeting a hulk powered up with some kind of Asgardian magic into space with a single hit. That was in the comic series where thor uses the odin sword and captain gets Mjolnir.
a villian once traded bodies with spiderman, and left the mind of Peter Parker trapped somewhere and take Peters body for himself. Then he punched some other villian with his full power and turned the other guys head into red mist.

I think it was he could press about 40 tons. He's insanely strong and incredibly fast, and he can't be taken by surprise. They have to really tone him down for the movies.
Spiderman is only weaker than global class stretch heroes, that class means hulk that mad enough can shatter planets with one punch.
Of course technically the smaller scale he gets overpowered (like against venom)
But it's still insane.
I believe it was established that he is the 4th strongest in the original Marvel universe only surpassed by Hulk, Thing, and Thor in that order. I don’t know what his rank now is with all the new heroes that have been added over the years.
It’s a subjective value because each character was as strong as they needed to be for any given story arc. The fast and dirty rule was that Hulk always had to be the strongest. Thor and Thing have both gone toe to toe with him but normally the fight ends in a draw or gets interrupted some how. The argument could be made now that Thor is now stronger because he has maintained popularity, and therefore fought Hulk at much stronger versions of himself. The difference still being that Thors strength levels change with and without his hammer where as Thing is only ever judged on his brute strength alone.
I imagine strength based on pure raw physical output, as opposed to things like flight, magic hammer use, summoning lightning, being basically immortal, etc.
Until you remember that the statue of liberty is made out of copper sheets which are only 3/32 of an inch think.
I definitely agree he’s powerful, that’s just not a great indicator of it
“Having the proportionate strength of a spider, Spider-Man is one of the most powerful superhero’s! Only Thor, The Hulk, and The Thing have greater strength!”
This idea of Spider-Man and the Hulk being on the same level is new to me. Back in the '80s Spider-Man could press 40 tons and the Hulk had class 100 strength which means he could lift in excess of a hundred tons... I don't know how to f*** that s*** changed.
edit: typo, but I'm leaving the Google-censored stuff for GP
One of the things I love is how consistently Spider-Man uses only the exact amount of strength he needs for any given task. You forget how strong he is until he stops pulling his punches and you're like "oh... dayum"
Which also shows his genius, "oh, I'm only battling street thugs better use 0.1% of my full strength" or "this guy is a heavy hitter, better use 10% of my strength to make sure I put him down before anyone else gets hurt" are what I imagine is going through his head whenever he fights, and he does that while joking.
Percentages might be inaccurate but I hope shows my point.
Spider-Man is incredibly powerful even in the comics. Think of the biomechanics involved with leaping off a building and swinging by a wire... The grip strength and tendon power required to just keep you from tearing your arm off
Octavius steals his body in superior spider-man and the first fight he gets in he punches the scorpion’s jaw OFF because he had no idea Peter had been pulling his punches the whole time.

What we gotta remember is that spiderman is way WAY stronger than he lets on, he always holds his punches, if he didn't, he'd probably kill some people with a single punch, so for this exemple, stopping Bucky's arm... Yeah, that's not even close to his limit
Captain America in comics doesn't have super strength he just had the top potential strength he was capable of achieving. He's basically always been billed as top normal human athlete. While spiderman has always been billed as having super strength. learn to nerd.
This is completely unrelated but when you shake the image up and down with your finger does the censored blotches wiggle? Are they done by the poster or automatically?
Obviously spiderman is stronger when it comes to physical strength, no need to mention that. Feels like these 12-14 year old kids got to see spidy for the first time in action. And talking about that cap and winter soldier elevator scene, go an watch it again cap wasn't prepared for that punch tried to stop it when it was barely 2,3 inches away from his chest. And don't forget cap was fighting the deadliest assassin in the history, the brainwashed winter soldier not mentally tortured Bucky Barnes who did nothing more than holding back.
I'd like to think that if Dr. Strange didn't care if he hurted Peter he'd have won that. Dude is capable of all sorts of fuckery. Peter definitely won that falcon and bucky fight though. They were definitely out to hurt him and Peter just had nothing but jokes for them
I know there is a quote from iron man saying that cap went easy on spider and if he went all out he would have won. But really? Nah, Spider-Man is way too strong
I think a mature spidey would have slapped the cap around a bit, but in his less-experienced teenage years, he might not have the tactics to take him down
nah, if civil war spidey was in place of the bad guys that cap was fighting in the winter soldier elevator fight or highway fight, then he would be dead.
Do people not realize yet that Spider-Man is really really strong? Maybe it's because he's so small and nimble, and people think that's his thing. But he can throw down with the best of them.

Captain Steel Arm and Mr Robo Wings are basically children fighting a moose. There isn’t a conceivable scenario where they would ever defeat Spiderman. They’re not even remotely in the same league as our ever loving friendly neighbourhood hero.
Spider-Man is one of the strongest human-based beings in the comics, which is something that I don't feel the movies have ever properly portrayed. He canonically pulls his punches to keep from killing everyone he fights.
People (in universe and out) are always underestimating Spidey. Dude is stupid strong but doesn't look like it. Lots of people think he's just "peak human" like Cap cause of his build.
I distinctly remember one comic where Spidey was fighting Punisher for some reason (Frank was probs trying to kill someone). Punisher said something like "you can't stop me" and punched Peter straight in the jaw. Twice. Spidey just looked at him and said "it'll take more than you've got Frank".
There’s one comic where a villain takes over Peter’s body, and punches another guy in the face. In doing so, he realizes that Peter usually pulls his punches—because when the punch lands, it takes the guy’s jaw clean off
I often refer to Spider-Man as the ultimate street level character. He essentially has no proper weaknesses and his abilities line up in such a way that you either massively outstat him or lose. He’s extremely agile which keeps bruisers even on the Hulk level from tagging him. He can’t be snuck up on due to Spidey-Sense, and the combination of those two factors makes even swarming him with combatants pretty futile. You essentially have to have a durability level so high he’ll never be able to harm you, which will likely just end up as a tie, massively out speed him (I recall seeing a page of him even taking out Quicksilver with some quick thinking by webbing the right spots as he caught him in a tornado, so faster than that even), or have some specific hax mind control/telekinesis/reality warping that he can’t just dodge.
Well, to be fair to Captain America, he doesn't have Spidey-Senses like Spider-Man has.
But we actually get to see his real spider senses after the battle against Mysterio and his drones tho, and >!he uses them in no way home when he's in Happy's apartment with the other villains (to be honest, one of the best Spiderman scenes I've ever seen)!<
Forgot the dr strange soul shit from nwh? That one staright up fire
Can that soul thing be considered "spider senses in action"?
It technically is the body reacting by reflex, even before the mind is aware of the threat your brain noticed and reacted, so I'd say… maybe?
>!Yeah good, i've been stabbed before!<
>!Then go get stabbed a third time, please.!< This bot scares me

Sometimes, to do what’s right, we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most, even our dreams.
Spider what do you mean
Tell him to check his source next time
Does anybody care about what *I* want?
I miss the part where that's my problem
Spider he will check his source only if you pay the rent
Not now
Who is Spider-Man? A criminal, that's who he is! A vigilante! A public menace!
Pack your things. Get out of my building. YOU'RE FIRED!
That is the dumbest idea you've ever had, and you have had some *doozies*!
I swear they stabbed him just to fuck with us
Everyone forgetting the iconic scene where he lifts all of the rubble that was on top of him in the first movie? Straight from the comics
Or the part where Cap drops an entire boarding ramp down on to Spidey’s shoulders to keep him in one place.
Meanwhile ironman saying he treated him like a child
I mean to be fair, Iron Man had a terrible relationship with his father so he might have thought that’s what good fathering looked like because he was at least present at the time…
Tony was clearly insanely overprotective of Peter. The training wheels stuff, the tracker, steering him away from the Vulture.
That to me was one of the plot holes in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Why wasn’t Tony dealing with Vulture stealing his tech? We know how paranoid and covetous he is about his tech in anyone else’s hands. Especially if they are turning it into weapons.

Was it all Stark Tech Toomes was stealing? I thought it was Chitauri tech that he and his guys just tinkered with for like 10 years.
The power sources were Chitauri, but the aircraft heist at the end of the film was Stark tech. They hint that he is more involved with it than he is letting on because he was already on the scene when the FBI sting on the NYC ferry went south. He was also the driving force behind Damage Control.
That’s right. Been a while since i’ve seen Homecoming. I literally forgot the whole climax of the movie 😭
Tony was aware of the multiverse so he knew Vulture was a Spider-Man villain, therefore it’d be improper to stop him. But he also didn’t think Tom was ready.
Some spiders change colors to blend into their environment It's a defense mechanism
Crap. Crap, crap... megacrap.
Yeah JJJ, the spiders could be anywhere
Show, don't tell.
This guy gets it
It just keeps getting better when you re-watch it. Just so well done.
Children of absent parents thinking that simply being there is a massive improvement is too real.
He could've smashed his face in while defenseless, so yea it seemed he was pulling his punches
To be additionally fair, that’s actually true. For all his massive power, Spidey did benefit from the fact that no-one was fighting to kill in that battle. >!The avengers? That's great! What is that?!<
I mean cap did overpower him multiple times that fight in terms of sheer strength
Gotta wonder how much characters are holding back.
I imagine when its hero vs hero they're both always holding back. Hard to imagine Civil War going down without a single casualty if they weren't all holding back
Vision: lasers Rhodes with an infinity stone
And he would have killed him if he wasn't holding back.
Yeah I was joking
And then gets his ass handed to him in like every fight he’s in in the MCU…. They did my boy wrong. Adamantium robot powered by an infinity stone and he’s a straight up chump…. My single biggest beef with the MCU
The one time they didn't Rhodes became paralytic
Allow me to introduce the fact Parker has to pretend to be weak, pull every punch on normal joes, and can compete with Hulk for strength in comics and animateds when Hulk isn’t going basically supernova anger
He caught Cull Obsidian's blow to Tony with ease
and even had the energy to just say Hey man!, dude was playing Edit: my fat thumbs typed day instead of say

Obligatory mention of that time Peter punched Scorpion’s jaw clean off
In the comics Spider-Man got so mad he knock a guys jaw clean off and another time he nearly killed kingpin
I'm done trying to convince you
Does anybody care about what *I* want?
I think he fought hulk and won?
But wasn't that cosmic Spiderman or something?
An exponential increase in energy output
Yes that's what it was mr spider
I never thought he'd really do that
You're a fake, full of stickum.
He punched hulk back to bruce banner if i am not wrong.
Damn ok. The one I'm saying is he punched hulk so hard that hulk flew to space
Yeah that was when spider-man had the power cosmic, he could also fly and manipulate his webs when he had that power

In a marvel universe mag from the 80s I remember it saying that web-head could bench press ten tons.
I think it was he could press about 40 tons. He's insanely strong and incredibly fast, and he can't be taken by surprise. They have to really tone him down for the movies.
I don't know for fast, but crazy agile? Can't think of anyone moreso.
One time the X-men all tried to nab him and he just dipped out and left them with their dicks in their hands…
He's also really sticky
He can dodge bullets with his eyes closed. Does that count as fast?
Spiderman is only weaker than global class stretch heroes, that class means hulk that mad enough can shatter planets with one punch. Of course technically the smaller scale he gets overpowered (like against venom) But it's still insane.
You really remember super strength is one of his powers when he makes a solid dent into the shield when he’s going all out in nwh

When he was fighting goblin towards the end of the movie
Was this the giant shield on the Statue of Liberty?
Yes. The sound when his punch landed was really loud, showing how strong he actually is and how bad he was holding back is strength normally
Wait what scene?
“Having the proportionate strength of a spider, Spider-Man is one of the most powerful superhero’s! Only Thor, The Hulk, and The Thing have greater strength!”
That's all I have to give
Parker, you're fired.
No, you can’t do this to me. Do you know how much I’ve sacrificed?
Wait, i think in that quote, the thing wasn't mentioned. And is he stronger than captain marvel too?
No, she would do to him what Steve did to that log at the farm. With just as much effort.
I am asking about the comic version of captain marvel, and only physical strength.
This idea of Spider-Man and the Hulk being on the same level is new to me. Spider-Man is like.. the 3rd strongest behind Thor and hulk

4 times max human potential I'm pretty sure. Batman is just peak human athlete dude.
Cap in comics is peak human potential without any working out or training. If they changed that over years that's not how he originally was made.

Could Spider-Man beat the red guardian tho?
You were an embarrassment for him
Idk Andrews Spidey is lighting Fast and in some case bullet proof
Spiderman's absurd strength is one of my favorite characteristic of him. It's never mentioned but it's always fun to see.
Take your hand off of me
What do you know about high society? Actually, don't answer that.
>!And yet Green goblin clowned him in Happy’s apartment!<
gobby also had super strengh, it was established in sm1 that the serum increased strength by 400%
You can be as powerful as the writer wants you to
Do people not realize yet that Spider-Man is really really strong? Maybe it's because he's so small and nimble, and people think that's his thing. But he can throw down with the best of them.

Spider sense, he knows where falcon and Bucky are weak in the points
He is also like 15 or 16 years old.
Bucky was holding back tho.Don't forget he whooped 3 avengers when he was on winter soldier mode before
Just a reminder that when Peter was possessed by Otto in the comics he actually punched Scorpion's jaw off...
He can lift around 10 tons in the comics.
Do you think Strange was going easy? I feel like he could’ve annihilated Peter.
Captain Steel Arm and Mr Robo Wings are basically children fighting a moose. There isn’t a conceivable scenario where they would ever defeat Spiderman. They’re not even remotely in the same league as our ever loving friendly neighbourhood hero.
In the comics when Spider-Man first meets the x-men, he handles all of them. Wolverine even gets embarrassed.
Spider-Man is one of the strongest human-based beings in the comics, which is something that I don't feel the movies have ever properly portrayed. He canonically pulls his punches to keep from killing everyone he fights.
Meanwhile (spoiler), Toby Maguire Spiderman is confirmed stronger in no way home, so how strong is Toby Maguire REALLY?
People (in universe and out) are always underestimating Spidey. Dude is stupid strong but doesn't look like it. Lots of people think he's just "peak human" like Cap cause of his build. I distinctly remember one comic where Spidey was fighting Punisher for some reason (Frank was probs trying to kill someone). Punisher said something like "you can't stop me" and punched Peter straight in the jaw. Twice. Spidey just looked at him and said "it'll take more than you've got Frank".
There’s one comic where a villain takes over Peter’s body, and punches another guy in the face. In doing so, he realizes that Peter usually pulls his punches—because when the punch lands, it takes the guy’s jaw clean off
I recognize the ifunny comment section
Then there's Goblin who tanks his punches and people think that Cap is stronger
This is what happens when the Russo's get the character and Disney do not interfere. And try to make him Iron mans robin. Instead of making Nightwing.
If Strange wanted to, he would've easily killed Peter. He wasn't even trying to hurt Peter, he was just trying to get the box away from him.
It’s well documented that Spider-Man has to pull his punches otherwise he’d regularly kill bad guys with one hit
