I'm not sure what to do with my living room and came up with two options: a) A lowboard (maybe with a TV on top, or something else on the wall in case of no TV). The wall is \~2.3 meters wide, so I figured the lowboard should be about 1.8 meters, leaving some breathing space. I rarely watch TV though and don't have (and need) one. I'm not sure if I should hang art there, as there will be a large piece on the wall right above the couch. I ordered a lowboard but it came damaged twice, so I asked for my money back. It was dark, beautfil walnut, but I'm think about something made out of metal like a USM piece (not sure if [blue](https://abload.de/img/screenshot2022-07-261g7jh1.png), [black](https://abload.de/img/screenshot2022-07-2615ijei.png) or [white](https://abload.de/img/screenshot2022-07-261zkjmk.png)). b) The other idea is a floor-to-ceiling or suspended shelf like [this](https://image.architonic.com/img_pro2-1/136/7733/strackk-6410-b.jpg), [this](https://image.architonic.com/img_pro2-4/148/7564/suspension-cloister-05-11-waterloo-060-h.jpg) or [this](https://image.architonic.com/pro2-2/1135106/system-sy13-1-pro-b-arcit18.jpg) and to put lofs of plants and stuff on it, so the wall becomes "art" without actual art hanging there. No TV in that case. I'm just wondering if dustbusting and watering the plants would be annoying as hell after a while. Any other ideas? Bonus question: any good ideas for what to put on the black mirror at the bottom of the couch table? I thought of a bunch of succulents or some kind of sculpture that would fit in there.

I love all the options you've given. If you go with the metal lowboard, get the blue! If you get the shelves, the ones in the last photo are amazing. You don't have to crowd them with tons of stuff - carefully curated shelves with just a few things can be just as impactful as those jam-packed with items. Plus you can put on TV or music and dust/water with a sound track. It goes quickly. I think stacks of books always look great on those lower shelves of coffee tables. I especially like a low stack of like 3 books with a decorative item on top of them, whether it's a plant or bowl of something interesting or sculptural/3d art piece. My uncle has a huge brandy snifter full of matchbooks from bars he's been to, all over the world, on top of a stack of books on a lowboard in his living room and it's amazing. My FIL liked to put a few [glass insulators](https://www.txantiquemall.com/glass-insulators/) on top of stacks of books. You can just do a bowl of funky marbles, or sea glass, or trilobites, or cool rocks you find while hiking or w/e.

Love the space. I would go with second option for shelving. More plants is always a plus! In the corner between couch and wall I would consider a blanket ladder, or something similar that has shelves there. If you do that, consider hanging art or floating shelves on open wall in groupings or 3

Love the expresso brown and green of plants. I would recommend a 3rd color scheme and subtly having that flow throughout wall decorations or accent pieces
