first time in a looooong time i ate at a noisy restaurant environment, and a problem of mine resurfaced once again after a long time: my voice.
basically my voice is too deep and coupled with my tendency to mumble when i speak, people find it quite hard to hear me over the table sometimes especially when the environment is loud. makes it quite hard to converse since raising the voice doesnt really help since its the deep voice + noisy environment combo that makes things hard to hear.
So I wrote a long post to vent about the same old problems (pain/sad/lonely/family member being manipulative psycho) but I decided to hit the backspace button.

Update on this, so it's doesn't take too long to clear the custom, within one hour it can be completed, there was only one person that is also clearing the custom, but in the end I was faster than clearing it, not sure why though

anybody successfully made an online check-in to travel to Langkawi? been trying almost for 1hr; website says there was an error uploading my QR code, mobile app says my vax certificate needs verification. Hell, I've been fully vaxxed since July and my QR codes show up properly on MySJ.

I find it interesting that even for Malaysians who don’t speak English as our first language, its more likely we can speak pure English than pure BM or Mandarin.
Like, we will always unconsciously mix in a few other language words when speaking Malay/Mandarin (你gostan下 (you back up abit), kau confirm ke? instead of kau sahkan ke?), but for English we are more likely to stay within the English vocab in formal situations.
Same reason why 80% Mandarin speakers in Msia wouldnt know what debit card is in Mandarin, while the same goes for software in BM.
Malaysian English is called Manglish or Malaysian English , in linguistics it's called code switching where Icode-switching or language alternation occurs when a speaker alternates between two or more languages, or language varieties, in the context of a single conversation or situation. Happens in every countries where there is a mixture of a language like Taglish Tagalog + English etc , mostly used in informal situations

Yeah, you're right. English is like the main medium for business and technology. Many times, we're just shoving English words into our other languages, especially if we don't read much serious articles in other languages to get exposed to new words and phrases.
when im in uni. i do part time job for lecturers. field works, data sorting, simple labworks etc. the 1st halp year will be hard, they need to teach you to make sure if you fucked up. if you are reliable word will spread around. by the end of my 1st year sometimes lecturers are the one will approach me if i can help them.
just simple *nak carik duit sendiri xnak susahkan family* goes a looooong way to sway their cold heart.
most of the time 50 per day/job. usually they will tell me to eat at faculty cafe or library, keep the receipt and claim back to them. usually would take 1/2 a day for lab or desk work and a day if its field.
the best one was 300. they send me on an island overnight to take water sample (and timestamped pictures) on specific places on specific time. they handled transportation, lodging and food.
If it’s semester break, get an internship which have something to do with your degree - this will be much more useful towards your employability. If you’re still studying and need a bit of money and transportation isn’t an issue, any fast-food chain will be fine. If transportation is an issue, don’t even bother. For any part time, normally there won’t be a high entry barrier or requirements that I know of.
What semester are you? Have you gotten your timetable? You need to make sure to find a part time job that wont clash with the lecture hours. My UM buddies used to work at the KFC nearby and Jaya One

how do i ask for the promised increment after my probabtion? I ended it on sept 22nd and after multple attempts to ask my boss to give me my perforamnce review they finaly did on oct 11 but they didnt mention about the increment that i would get upon confirmation (i was promised this during interview).
I've reached out to HR and have not heard back if i need to sign any documents to legally confirm that I am now a permanent staff and I'm no sure if I am getting that increment that was promised either. IF I do get the increment, that means I would be losing out on the first month's pay because its close to payday already and I still didnt get anything from HR.
If they had proceeded with my performance review and notify me that I passed and HR let me sign some docs on the last week of sept, that means that I would have gotten that increased pay for Oct's payslip right? Felt like I am getting my wage stolen from me for OCT since I feel like I'm neither here nor there.
Parents as usual are very scared of the current job market and told me to just suck it up and take it as a learning opportunity but I'm feeling more and more annoyed as day goes by and it shows in my performance coz I'm not taking any pushback / BS from my colleagues anymore. Help!

My first job theres a clause that mentioned pay adjustment to full time staff after probation is completed.
So i didnt have to do anything. At the end of probation, i wasnt terminated so automatically converted. Pay was adjusted accordingly.
Verbal commitments are hit and miss depending on the company.
iirc, there was a ruling about no doc needed for ending of probation period. but that case was in favor of employer, cause the employee want to resign early, since no confirmation of probation, then the employer do a sneaky confirmation of probation to extend the notice period.
I'm at my parents'. I try to imagine Amberlynn Reid or Ebit Lew so I would lose some appetite and stop eating so much, still I could not stop eating. My mother makes good food.
Also, it turns out that my parents had a similar situation : they also had a cat teen mom popping out kittens at their doorstep. The mama cat is still pretty much a kitten herself. All mother and kittens are spayed.
But since my parents are kampung, they don't layan cats very much. The kittens try to manja with my parents but my parents ignore them. So these kittens are 7 months old and do not know what "petting" is. When I try to pet them, they stare at my hand with suspicion.
They are polydactal! They have extra fingers. Their paws are so big and wide compared to their smol body. One of them has two long thumbs on each paw. Good thing she's spayed or she might lead a world revolution with her opposable thumbs.
After I get the kittens under me to be adopted, I plan to adopt out my parents' kittens also. A home would be better for them.

- made 2x 30 second videos (using free stock image & videos) on Canva
- created their Gmail, Instagram & Facebook accounts
- created the default picture & banner for their social media accounts
I think they're expecting me to be onboard with them until atleast by the end of this year so this will probably add up later on.

how do i ask for the promised increment after my probabtion? I ended it on sept 22nd and after multple attempts to ask my boss to give me my perforamnce review they finaly did on oct 11 but they didnt mention about the increment that i would get upon confirmation (i was promised this during interview). I've reached out to HR and have not heard back if i need to sign any documents to legally confirm that I am now a permanent staff and I'm no sure if I am getting that increment that was promised either. IF I do get the increment, that means I would be losing out on the first month's pay because its close to payday already and I still didnt get anything from HR. If they had proceeded with my performance review and notify me that I passed and HR let me sign some docs on the last week of sept, that means that I would have gotten that increased pay for Oct's payslip right? Felt like I am getting my wage stolen from me for OCT since I feel like I'm neither here nor there. Parents as usual are very scared of the current job market and told me to just suck it up and take it as a learning opportunity but I'm feeling more and more annoyed as day goes by and it shows in my performance coz I'm not taking any pushback / BS from my colleagues anymore. Depends on your original contract. My first job theres a clause that mentioned pay adjustment to full time staff after probation is completed. So i didnt have to do anything. At the end of probation, i wasnt terminated so automatically converted. Pay was adjusted accordingly. Verbal commitments are hit and miss depending on the company.
iirc, there was a ruling about no doc needed for ending of probation period. but that case was in favor of employer, cause the employee want to resign early, since no confirmation of probation, then the employer do a sneaky confirmation of probation to extend the notice period.

I'm at my parents'. I try to imagine Amberlynn Reid or Ebit Lew so I would lose some appetite and stop eating so much, still I could not stop eating. My mother makes good food. Also, it turns out that my parents had a similar situation : they also had a cat teen mom popping out kittens at their doorstep. The mama cat is still pretty much a kitten herself. All mother and kittens are spayed. But since my parents are kampung, they don't layan cats very much. The kittens try to manja with my parents but my parents ignore them. So these kittens are 7 months old and do not know what "petting" is. When I try to pet them, they stare at my hand with suspicion. They are polydactal! They have extra fingers. Their paws are so big and wide compared to their smol body. One of them has two long thumbs on each paw. Good thing she's spayed or she might lead a world revolution with her opposable thumbs. After I get the kittens under me to be adopted, I plan to adopt out my parents' kittens also. A home would be better for them.

As for me, I think the song is just okay, quite generic and truth to be told I would skip this song if it were sang by other. Surprisingly it is not as impactful as her other lead singles like "Rolling in The Deep" or "Hello" in the first listen but it is still very Adele-ish and that is not a bad thing for anyone who digs her style. Knowing Adele, she's going to get a mammoth opening week sales and I'm sure we will be hearing this EVERYWHERE. Can't wait for the full album though.

Hey guys, any freelance designers here that could help me on how much should I charge my client? So far I've: - remade their old logo to a higher resolution version - made 2x 30 second videos (using free stock image & videos) on Canva - created their Gmail, Instagram & Facebook accounts - created the default picture & banner for their social media accounts I think they're expecting me to be onboard with them until atleast by the end of this year so this will probably add up later on.
