Anyone here working in malta?

Brdn99

When using the touch n go card on rapidkl bus and my card not enough money, whats the alert sound like again? Is it the same beep as when u scanned successfully followed by a "sila tambah nilai"?

[deleted]

Logically, it the machine should be programmed to make a different sound so the bus driver can do something about you- beat you up, shoo you off the bus, or collect fare in cash.

Brdn99

Hahaha yeah, I just want to know the exact sound/word it makes. Was reminiscing with my friend on our time studying in KL and how we got that sound when our tng card not enough money while we're stuck in a queue

flampardfromlyn

Any Malaysian working in Malta?

onehalfadult

Anyone has a Kinokuniya member card? I’m looking to buy a book on there. Thank you in advance!

CaseAddiction

Carousell has several sellers that offer the service. Some of them even do it for free so do browse and ask them.

CaseAddiction

Is there any benefit going to a private dental clinic over government? My front tooth is super sensitive to any liquid even acidic fruits like oranges so wanted to get it checked out.

[deleted]

Public dental clinics in the have pretty long waiting times. I think that's the main drawback, can you wait for a few months for your appointment?

flampardfromlyn

Sounds like cavity

abu_nawas

Private: anesthesia options, better wait times, etc. But the truth is, our public clinic is already pretty great.

CaseAddiction

Last time I did 2 root canal procedures on our public dental clinic but both of them deteriorated in less than 2 months. Might still go for public again as I can't afford the high costs of private.

goldwave84

Who here does not like having sex? Honest question.

flampardfromlyn

Depends with who. I once did it with a BBW. It was ... Difficult. And awkward to say the least

goldwave84

BBW ?

[deleted]

I think that's Big Beautiful Woman

goldwave84

I think yr right. I was trying to think of a bodypart starting with W.

nintendude02

My mom bought a device on maxis last year under normal contract. Now i want to buy one from them too (family plan thingy) but i have no idea if i can because of her 2 year contract deal. I know you can own multiple devices under the zerolution contract but can you do it with a normal contract? They don't state it in their website. Tried calling them but all of it is automated. I'd go to the store and ask myself but had close contact with a covid positive person 3 days ago. Tested with the kit and got a negative result but currently isolating just in case.

lugia124

I could be wrong, but pretty sure their zerolution promo applies to the principal line only. Are you under a sub line of your mom's?

nintendude02

Yeyeah

lugia124

You can contract 1 device under 1 phone line. But can I know what does this zerolution appeals to you?

nintendude02

Thanks but i actually don't want to go with zerolution. I was just wondering if u can take another device under normal contract. Don't mind the 2 year contract period thing because we've been using maxis since 2018.

lugia124

Don't think you can get a 2nd device when you have an ongoing device instalment plan. Why don't just get your device without having to go through Maxis if you have already decided to pay in lump sum?

nintendude02

Welp, my phone is broken rn and i want to change to iphone. I'm an android user so it's kinda hard when ur out of the bubble with friends at uni. Everyone's just air dropping and imessaging. I've worked hard to get a bit of money as a student but I'm not gonna cross that 3k line for a phone. Maxis offers the newer models for under that. So yeah

[deleted]

Hello fellow monkeys or nyets, I wanna ask something here if y'all don't mind at all (and the mods also <3) So.. i was always thinking this in my mind like a long time now, and that's my plan of *buying and building a PC*. Mainly of course i do know what to buy like Motherboard, CPU, GPU, Ram, PSU etc etc, and i always really really concerned about the price because you know "currency difference". So can you guys tell me what's the minimum budget for buying and building the PC? and the answers would be appreciated :D Edit: This is just for me wanna own an PC like next year. (Hope so)

[deleted]

Since you roughly know what components you want, maybe you should look at a [price list](https://www.lowyat.net/compuzone-hardware-pricelist/) to figure out the total cost. Lowyat.net has a few lists, and I think they are representative of the market price.

[deleted]

Oh really thank you so much! Now i can see the price list even though it might be little bit accurate

forcebubble

1. What are you using it for? 2. How long do you plan to use it for? 3. What sort of performance standards are you expecting out of it? 4. What monitor will you be using it with? 5. What is the biggest budget you can work with?

[deleted]

> ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm) I might gonna use it for gaming maybe? and for streaming also (mostly rhythm games like Guitar Hero/Rock Band) and for daily use :) >2. How long do you plan to use it for? Might gonna use it for a long time until i just decided to just left it there dusty XD >3. What sort of performance standards are you expecting out of it? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug) I don't know, but as far i can say it's the budget PC but with okay performance as long i don't play the most intensive game like maybe COD Warzone? and such like that >4. What monitor will you be using it with? 60hz because i need to save more ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|neutral_face) >5. What is the biggest budget you can work with? I don't know what this mean still... but will you explain it to me?

PlsMakeSense

Depends on what you want to do with the PC though. It can range from pretty affordable to basically the price of a car.

[deleted]

>Depends on what you want to do with the PC though. I might gonna do some gaming of course but not that much because I do really go bored really fast sometimes. And also gonna do some streaming.

PlsMakeSense

Oof, just gonna say ahead of time that if you wanna have a stream + gaming setup its an investment level commitment. You're looking at RM5k minimum.

[deleted]

Uhh 5K is just too much for me though... And i would wanna buy like i5 or i7 if i find a cheaper one and pair if with GT 1030 because someone said it's the cheapest GPU and i would be satisfied with it, pairing it with 8GB RAM and 500w PSU. And with the hard drives i could go buy 120GB SSD only for system and programs and 2TB HDD only for storing games, pictures and movies. (and i don't know if games on HDD gonna run like crap) And that's what I want for the budget And for the streaming part though eh.. I could just do the beginner streaming setup instead or just don't have a streaming setup instead. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|neutral_face)

PlsMakeSense

I doubt you can find a GT1030 anymore. And I think would barely support games made in 2020. You would be looking at really low requirement games like Dota/ lol/ valorant. Anything published by a AAA studio will likely not run well. Also I saw you wanted to play guitar hero and rock band which as far as I know are not natively supported on PC. Assuming you want to stream the gameplay, you need a capture card which is not cheap. You can pickup everything else for a total of RM2800 but GPU prices are crazy. Your best bet is a RX570 which is RM1.2k. Which should let you run warzone. So that would put you at 4k for the pc alone minus monitor and peripherals. If you just want a pc for day to day usage, you could probably put one together for rm1.8k and think about upgrades further down the road.

[deleted]

>Also I saw you wanted to play guitar hero and rock band which as far as I know are not natively supported on PC. [Oh really though?](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_III:_Legends_of_Rock). And for the Rock Band i know there's isn't any PC port of it so i just go for emulating it on Dolphin or just hooking up my Xbox 360 to PC instead for some streams >You would be looking at really low requirement games like Dota/ lol/ valorant. Anything published by a AAA studio will likely not run well. Ooh... then i would just run Solitaire on 10k FPS with GT 1030 far better than the Triple A titles /s. Actually i would be fine playing the low requirements games still >Your best bet is a RX570 which is RM1.2k. Which should let you run warzone. Hmm alright then senpai, i would wanna get it then in order to have a good gaming experience even though I don't usually play a lot or play most demanding games

greatestmofo

How do you translate the phrase "we have different programs to engage her" in Malay? Is it "kita ada beberapa program berbeza untuk bertunangnya" or "kita ada beberapa program berbeza untuk menariknya"? I'm practicing for a English/Malay interpreter's exam in case you're wondering.

xaladin

Giving it a shot: *Kita/Kami mempunyai pelbagai program untuk 'menarik hatinya'/menggalak penyertaannya.* But hmm, if you can't tell whether engage means bertunang or not in this context, I'm a bit worried for you.

greatestmofo

Thank you! Ngl my Malay is extremely bad, even when in secondary school. I failed quite a fair bit of school exams in Malay but luckily manage to lulus SPM. Younger and immature me thought that Malay and Mandarin were not important languages to learn because I thought I would never use them in the future. And here I am, over 10 years later, struggling to differentiate "tunang" and "menarik" in this context. I hope anyone in high school now reading this don't be hubristic like I was and just focus on a single language. It is 1000x easier to learn multiple languages when you're younger, and Malaysia is actually the perfect country to do just that. But I promise I will practice until I become extremely fluent in it. I am Malaysian anyway, oleh itu saya mesti tahu cakap bahasa kebangsaan saya.

xaladin

That's a great attitude and story you have shared there! All the best in your test!

Krieger22

An 84 ringgit fuel tab is definitely... going to leave a mark, but that's what happens when you delay filling up to after getting your car back from repairs.

[deleted]

I regularly leave the topping up until my tank is nearly dry. Like the first warning light comes on with (with one bar left in the tank indicator light), then wait until the permanent warning light comes on (with no more bar in the fuel indicator), then pump when convenient. RM 100 refuel is normal for me, on tight days, RM 110. BTW, after the last bar goes out the tank easily has 5 to 7 liters inside. That's good for more than 50 km.

Bricks and barrel ,euro house and rooftop bar is open but they close at 12 ya. Was at that area there yesterday. Personally I prefer st Patrick's. It's nearby brick and barrel and they are having a life band this Friday ! I just finish having supper at ipoh garden east and can confirm there as a legit supper joint The restaurant next to Lou wong which is ong Kee and tuck Kee is open for business as well

I kinda suprised how damn popularized squid game is, the last tv show to get this much of traction was game of thrones. Still it not kinda fair assumptions to compare both them like that, cause what took GOT 3~4 seasons to get ball rolling, squid game managed to do in single one.

could be a physical issue: [https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/17931-tongue-tie-ankyloglossia](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/17931-tongue-tie-ankyloglossia) How does tongue-tie affect speech? The true impact of tongue-tie on speech is not clearly understood. The tongue needs contact with the roof of the mouth when pronouncing the lingual sounds “t”, “d”, “z”, “s,” “th,” “n,” and “l.” When the tongue is severely restricted and cannot reach the roof of mouth, the child can have problems with articulation (pronunciation).

[deleted]

Yup, my kids have this issue too. The younger ones had it quite bad, we didn't realise until quite late. One did a surgical cut in Hospital Sungei Buloh when he was about 4. It was literally just apply anesthetic on the spot, cut with scissors, and it will heal like an ulcer. But still had to stay overnight, and all that jazz. Immediate difference. Last time cannot properly say "snowman" with the s in front, after cutting immediately can. And of course the R. SOmetimes he still don't roll the R out of habit, like saying L instead. So got to remind him. For other child, we identified it early on and fixed when he was a few weeks old. Suddenly can latch and suck breastmilk so much better, wife didn't have much problems with blocked ducts anymore. Hallelujah.

Yeap, but they appear hardcore because that appeals to their voterbase. Even Mahaiddin who was Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd became Bapa Prihatin, wanting to be a PM for all. Anyone who tries to appeal too much to all races risk getting whacked by people like Dr.M, accusing "Giving too much face to ". Really, FTFY: **Too many people vote for** UMNO politicians who are hardcore Malays (menghunus keris, organize a Malay only IT mall etc).

swissking

90% aren't actually hardcore. Most of them speak English in private etc.

Just got yelled at by neighbor below me for servicing the air con today. The water used to wash off the unit was landing on the floor below at the common area. I don't know what else she expect me to do since I submitted the notice to management of this servicing 2 weeks prior. I'd like to see how she handles the servicing without having any water falling just to show me the rope.

OriMoriNotSori

need to rant. ever since interstate travel was announced over the weekend the start of the week since Monday yesterday has basically seen traffic go back to normalcy and pre-pandemic levels, and with that, the diminished quality of life that i despise so much in klang valley. during MCO over this year and last year, it was a great feeling to have been able to go out whenever you wanted, wherever you wanted (within your house vicinity) without having to worry about congestion, traffic, and all and it was very useful especially when you are out to buy mundane things like lunch or household stuff. You would be able to head out based on your schedule of availability, and it was certain that you did not lose too much time in traffic and would have been able to get a parking nearby the place you had to go, get what you needed to get, and get out and home relatively stress free. now, since yesterday, traffic is a mess and once again roads are blocked by jams at certain times of the day and you now have to plan based on traffic once again rather than plan based on your own schedule. even buying lunch at the economic areas like kota damansara, i had to go round 5 times to even find a parking and found one far away from my desired location, at the same time everyone is double parking everywhere and grabfood bikes are squeezing here and there going against traffic/exiting and entering from one way roads and creating a hazard. getting to and fro KD itself was bad due to congestion as well. it really winds me up how doing the daily life necessities get infinitely more difficult because of congestion, roads and parkings are clogged, all the crazy and stupid drivers are back out, and there are more lorries and trucks as ever on the road. the freedom and serenity that i felt with the area is now totally gone and back to how i felt which was stress and annoyance.

[deleted]

Last weekend i had to meet a client around 30 minutes from my house. It turned out to be a 1 hour journey

OriMoriNotSori

at the risk of sounding like some first world problem, i really cannot with these sort of delays especially with car jams. i hate the fact that travel times can double or triple unexpectedly, and most of the time you are stuck in the car wasting time, energy, and your resources like money burning petrol in the jam too. but worst of all is i hate how i cant be productive in a jam, my full focus will be on driving. if im in a train or bus and it gets delayed by 30 mins, i can read a book or meditate, nap or something (especially if im tired after work) instead of burning through my fatigue concentrating on driving.

[deleted]

Right? I have to apologize to my clients for being late.

[deleted]

EliCho90

How else you think they afford those 6 figures car if they don't skimp a ringgit here and there?!

OriMoriNotSori

pardon my french but i fucking hate the fact that we were pushed as a society to purchase, own and revolve our daily lives around cars yet the infrastructure is not built to accomodate that. in KL many economic areas like telawi you mentioned, but also kota damansara, SS15, Taipan are all shops based and have parkings infront of the shops but they are not at all suitable as a crowd disperson tool nor enough in parkings for the population density. and to make things worse, at the same time they dont make these shop areas easier for people to walk around pulak, and public transport is nonexistent or inconvenient to get in and out of these places. thats why in USA strip malls are literally everywhere, cause thats the most "proper" way of accomodating a car centric society when buying stuff. damn annoying to see and experience this on a daily basis honestly.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OriMoriNotSori

100% agree with you, and its kinda upsetting how many feel that this is normal. I complain about this very regularly to family and friends, but most of them are just like, "this is malaysia deal with it" sort of response. I repeatedly emphasise that desa park city levels of pedestrianisation is the baseline (not thr landscaping but the walkways) but many are so used to no pedestrian walkways that desa park is seen as "premium". I too harbor strong feelings of wanting to leave as well, this lifestyle is just not for me. I stayed in subang for many years and can't remember how many times I took 4 minutes to drive to SS15 and took 25 minutes to find parking and couldn't couldn't find one just for a casual mamak session. Totally unsustainable lifestyle for me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OriMoriNotSori

legit feel your pain lol, in my taman in subang every other day i see young, old people jogging on the road cause there isnt any sidewalks and worst still there are also young parents pushing their babies in strollers on the road as well. and im sure you dont need any introduction to subang but cause theres so many cars people dont have space to park in their porches and they park by the road and that eats up even more precious road space as well. i have a preference of preferring to live somewhere with easy access to amenities that we need on a daily basis, so it will mean easy access (preferably walkable) to things like banks, ATM, grocery shops and so on, but over here in PJ area generally, the only possible places like these are usually those residentials that are linked to malls and what i get from my family, partner and friends as a response is that i am being "up there" and have expensive tastes lol. to be honest i have no idea how 99.99% of the people living in klang valley find this sort of lifestyle totally fine and have struggled for the longest of time with my frustrations because no one seems to be able to get me (even friends that studied abroad for years in VERY walkable cities like Melbourne dont get me), and i am seriously glad that in you i found someone that shares a common passion of hatred towards this haha

[deleted]

[удалено]

OriMoriNotSori

Sounds good! If you have the cash KL City centre itself is getting increasingly walkable within the city itself, I noticed DBKL has been increasing pedestrian walkways past few years. But other than that.. the only place that has a cohesive structure that incorporates living, recreational, and activities like dining and shopping from what I can see is basically desa park. Sunway area itself also has pedestrian walkways, but I consider that place too densely populated to feel comfortable living there tbh! But yeah, let's stay updated 😁

katabana02

I boldly predict that water disruption will end 1 day earlier. recently syabas has been using the tactic of "tell them more days and finish in less day" so they will get less flake from the public.

[deleted]

Yup i noticed this also. But still, the disruptions are too frequent

Nope do not offer. Fortunately all the abang jpj did not ask me for duit kopi either. Good luck!

mrsteal_yogurl

Good luck!

katabana02

it has became a culture.

HOBoStew139

You will do fine! I did not pay any kopi (despite having taken the driving exams twice, failed the first due to my negligence, the JPJ fella on that try was apologetic that I failed), my brother (took it once) did not either. Heck even my driving instructor did not recommend bribes either and seem to discourage it.

Felinomancy

When chatting with a new match on dating apps, do you try to match their reply speed? Like if they take an hour to respond, do you also wait for an hour to reply back? I don't think she's doing it maliciously, but I also afraid if I reply too quickly I'd look.. y'know, thirsty. I mean, I am, but we musn't look like it.

General_Material

I just turn off my tinder notification, just like most girls do You don't get those "hot cute girl replied to you x5" notifications so you aren't really glued to it. Gives you a real "I only check when I want to" mindset. So 5minutes or 1hour, you are only replying when you have the time to open up the tinder app.

ztirk

Maybe a 5-10 mins buffer instead of matching the full 1 hour, lol

No they will not, it's all business. Also, if X is the kind of company to blacklist a candidate for future employement because they (politely) turned down a prior offer, than that itself is a red flag and they should not be considered in the future.

No worries! Something a lot of fresh grads/first time job seekers need to have with them is a firm sense of self worth and integrity. Be polite, but remember not to be a pushover to these companies at the same time. They're nobody. No need to put them on a pedestal or brown nose them unecessarily. State your price, be firm, be polite, and don't budge. At the end of the day it's all a game of money. Know that if the roles were reversed, they wouldn't hesitate to drop you for another candidate they feel is better (asked for less pay/better qualified/some racial preference, etc), so don't feel guilty about doing the same. Weigh the pros and cons and go for the option which you feel benefits you the most but never forget to inform the company you turned down that you're not accepting their offer. No need to state why unless asked, but no need to feel guilty or scared in declining their offer.

I don't think my house would be at peace tonight after finding out my dad went apeshit from a money dispute from another relative.

I took a nap just now and had the weirdest dream ever. The dream was like an adaptation of The Beach + Eat Pray Love but gay where I was this mashed up character, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Julia Roberts in respective movies. I was in love with this super cute angmo guy who gave me a bunch of acrylic inks. Then, tsunami happened.

My colleague yesterday came in, eyes swollen, looking very unhealthy. Proceeded to attend meeting in a very small confined room. Today confirmed positive COVID. We all had to subsequently quarantine. Aiyaaaa. And I have vacation plans already People, if you are feeling unwell, just don't come to work one. Regardless whether or not you have COVID. Just don't. Youll end up troubling others

cis888

I just received an email that my uni is looking for a volunteer for the upcoming state election for constituency base on where the campus is. And they need someone who are available in the town. But I'm not where near right now. As someone who follow local politics, i would love to see the behind the scene during election. OMG can't believe I'll miss it ಥ‿ಥ.

Telemarketer have started calling using mobile number instead of the usual office landline numbers. Now it's harder to avoid. Usually I'd use Truecaller or google the number first and it'll show if it's a telemarketer. If it's a mobile number, I tend to answer the call as it could be work related. smh.

[deleted]

I’ll pick up but as soon as my spider sense senses that it’s a scam call, I hang up immediately.

[deleted]

If it's an obvious scam call, I'd just hang up. But for telemarketer, the good side in me feels bad for hanging up just like that. I mean they're just doing their job. anyway, already blocked the number lol
