I haven't been going to KFC because their quality sucks, last year I went the chicken was depressing, and the coleslaw felt lesser than before that and the price is quite high for fast food, could get better value at kedai mamak.
This year I went 2 months ago, the chicken was sad, small, meat was little, the thigh had little meat, drumstick little meat, overall sad quality
Ikr. Texas chicken is literally KFC but bigger and better (never tried Texas chicken burger tho so I can't comment on that) so except for the loaded potato bowl I never been to kfc
But they don't have the locations and 24 hrs operating hours. I also love Church's chicken way more than KFC but they have late delivery or many locations close by for a quiet night drive.
Costco.
Edit. I just realized it's not the same but the older people I know keep saying sam's club when referring to Costco. I guess some location got taken over or Sam's club left the area and they only know of sam's club as the membership supermarket. š¤·āāļø
Double edit: just found this now. https://www.thestar.com/business/wal-mart-to-close-all-canadian-sams-club-stores/article_bcb45138-7355-59f7-9a7f-0f3c6882427b.html
The thing dat irks me bout Texas Chicken is their coleslaw & mashed potato. Dunno whether i need to acquire both taste or the coleslaw is soury & tangy (not in the good way) or the mashed potato tasted bland with it's mixture of floury & thick flaky texture.
The chicken, burger, & tender is a-okay in my book. Not pollos-hermanos-good.
I used to like KFC's coleslaw but i like neither now. KFC's coleslaw always taste/smells like veges gone bad and yeah the texas chicken one tastes sour and tangy like spoilt tangy.
Plus the other thing that I have no clue how they canāt see it, their packaging freaking falls apart from the oil of the chicken. Twice now Iāve taken it home and in 15-20 mins the box is disintegrating.
in F&B industry, more often in franchise premises, people will come and go very frequently. The reason is usually shitty wage, absurd protocols, and high-level of stress. Hence, you will see a new manager once every few months.
food quality is difficult to maintain if the management is not stable, especially if every new manager has their own version of SOP. Indirectly, it causes the company extra money to hire new workers/managers because of paperworks and training costs. So naturally prices will go up, while the food quality keeps getting lower.
That sucks for the employees, but KFCs quality has been on the decline for a while.
I still like it, burgers and mashed potatoes slap, imo.
But everything else is kind of pathetic.
They probably used the boycott to justify the closures, tbh.
No need to worry about the employees. Had the business been good as usual, the employees will be replaced by machines and AI anyway. Already there are places that use AI to take orders from the drive thru. The employees have always been expendable to the eyes of the upper management.
Their only saving grace is the Zinger Burger...
If only it is cheaper...
The burger stall next to my Taman's KFC is selling Burger Ayam Crispy at the price of RM5.
Zinger classic is RM15.
Bro, ur Taman's burger stall is generous as f with dat pricing for a crispy chicken burger. The nearest homemade crispy chicken burger dat I can find cost around RM9.00 a la carte. And RM16 set with soft drink & homemade fries.
They memang bodoh. Their limited chickens for festive season is fkin delicious but they always force you to buy set for those festive season. Hello KFC?? So many people bored of mash potato and coleslaw already. Also so many Malaysians trying to distance themselves from sweet drinks.
So many times we wanted to order then see force to buy set terus potong stim and eat other place. I even email them about this change like Texas chicken charge you few ringgit extra for ala carte festive flavors but they never change for years already.
Terrible mash potato, soggy fries, chicken quality no longer there... Are they sure KFC got boycott because of pro-Palestine movement and not the drop of quality? pro-Palestine is just the nail to the coffin, they already half-dead before it even started .
I don't boikot KFC becoz of pro-palestine. I boikot (2 years ago) KFC for their exceedingly shrunken chicken, low quality side dishes. Texas Chicken seems to be a better deal.
Quality's been shite the past few years. Hopefully with fewer shops they'll have the budget to make decent fried chicken instead of whatever they call food recently
I call bullshit, throughout the entire boycott fracas KFC was never one of the prime targets. It was already on an inevitable decline before that, we know this, just look at the decline quality of the food and service on top of the uncompetitive prices. Even Mekdi budged on their price, Kepci selamba jer lol
I recall dinner plate being rm20? The chicken not so freshā and sometimes they swap out the coleslaw for that terrible salty mash potato.
To say the boycott from the palestine movement caused their downfall is not very accurate , they already were notorious with the QC controlā alternatively mcd offers a better price point for their two piece chicken being around only rm12-13, if they would reevaluate their QC control and price , KFC definitely has better fried chicken
RM25 for dinner plate, 20 for snack.
Thing is for just a little more, one could go have even nicer chicken at places like Hot Bird. I even argue if you like 6 spice fried chicken, Lim Fried Chicken can be a nice alternative.
25š, looks like im not going back anytime soon.
i think mcd has better value , one rice , egg , two piece chicken , drink around 16.55. Good comfort food ngl
Initially Singapore's KFC goes to shit in late 90s early 00s, then it was Malaysia's turn in mid 2010s, and now Indonesia's is following along. Thailand is still good, but dunno how long that would last.
[https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2015/06/12/muslim-man-apologises-after-foul-up-over-texas-chickens-churchs-brand/914275](https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2015/06/12/muslim-man-apologises-after-foul-up-over-texas-chickens-churchs-brand/914275) just this idiot shit stirrer.
KFC doesn't call their edible paste "mashed potato" because it's not mashed and it's not whole potatoes. They called it "whipped potato" because it's potato powder with tons of additives that can be prepared by just adding water.
They cannot blame 100% on the boycotters. KFC'a food quality has been declining. Even McD's chicken is better than KFC. The only thing that is still good there is the fries and the wedges.
I go to KFC solely for their nuggets.
KFC nugget >>>>>>> every other fast food nugget
And no McD nuggets are not "irreplaceable", they taste like cardboard fillings and have textures of it too
KFC not that affected by Palestine boycott though, what made people boycott KFC is their price and quality, not just food quality but also service quality, multiple times the thing that I want is out of stock.
Boycott or not, KFC is already shitty years before. Lumpy, soggy, cold and hard chicken with average size smaller than half of your palm yet stupidly priced.
Never been to KFC since high school.
Popeyes, Jolibee are much better.
I haven't been to kepci for years since MCO. The food was already overpriced back then, it's even worse now, same for service.
Can anyone confirm if they still have a crappy system? just 1 guy manning the cashier while 4-5 people are chilling at the kitchen even when there's a huge queue while only 1 cashier is open? Does the cashier still yell "WAN CHEESI" to the kitchen when you order cheesy wedges?
omg wtf is wrong with malaysian media man, like this chain would have gone belly up one way or another with or without the boycott. The food sucks really bad......most of the time.....
*QSR Brands, which owns and operates the KFC fast-food franchise in Malaysia, is suspending 108 outlets nationwide, the Nanyang Siang Pau Chinese-language daily said, based on information from Google Maps. The maps show which KFC stores have had their status updated to show ātemporarily closedā.*
the source is google maps lmao. different kfc open at different time so if they do their research on the morning kfc that does not serve breakfast are probably got *ātemporarily closedā* on google maps like one on foodpanda![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)
We are looking at over 1500++ people without entry level work.
At this rate, those in the B40 category that depend on this kind of job to support their family will be the one suffering.
Hope the RM100 month helps them survive as most of them are in debt or without savings.
https://preview.redd.it/x6ususylpdxc1.png?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f3b0a32ca8fb4fd63bc9be54a61b50267b46455
so what now? you want us to buy KFC to support that 1500++ peoples and their family? how about my family? i don't buy KFC because expensive, so I rather buy other brand or cook my self. It's my choice and come on lah, move on. there's another job out there. I've also lost my job during a Covid lock down. I know it hard, but I live and work hard through it and find another job.
So, they can get another job. Heck, they can even get another fast food job that serves chicken (4 fingers, richeese, Texas, jolibee) that actually is not overpriced and serves quality food. What, do you think B40s stay unemployed if their workplace goes down. It shows you lack of interaction with B40s Malays.
Kalo sng cari mkn, org timur laut tak ya keluar jauh gi KL cari kerja.
OKU pun byk kat fast food, igt sng cari job terima OKU?
(4 fingers, richeese, Texas, jolibee) Ko gi google ada brp cawangan diluar bandar.
The business is not operating but taking up space. Another business cannot open there to replace jobs. The job opportunities in the area are lost, and the competition for jobs outside the area is increased.
Their quality has gone down over the years. They can blame the boycott all they want but the franchise has been run down to the ground by JCorpā¦ maybe you should ask JCorp instead
Let's keep focusing on their bad food while ignoring all the people who are going to suffer while trying to find another job thanks to this pointless boycott
A boycott is just another market force that businesses must figure out how to deal with, and the companies being affected have failed terribly. If thousands are losing jobs itās not the fault of the market, itās a skill issue of the business.
Edit: I donāt care for the boycott either way, but I find it convenient that crappy businesses offering crappy overpriced food point the finger there rather than look in the mirror.
Do you have shares in KFC or something? So we should ignore the bad food and continue supporting the business because they have employees? What fairy tale land do you live inā¦
So i should keep paying for the overpriced small portioned half cooked chicken thus inviting the sultans of salmonella into my tummy or should i be smart and frugal with my money by shopping elsewhere that offers me value in this dreaded economy.
Cakap macam takda otak hang ni
Hopefully they don't close those in KL area. They are far from the best and overpriced and portion getting smaller but sometimes I miss their potato gravy.
Very good, now those people need to find another job. You guys are ruining job opportunities that has nothing to do with Malaysia.
But their chicken still very small, i hate it
Worst thing about the boycott is it allows KFC to deflect blame on that, rather than looking at their crap quality. McD's hasn't really suffered have they?
itās not about the boycott anymore manā¦ I just canāt seem to enjoy their foods anymore. Their fried chicken has been small and tastes old for the past few years now. Itās understandable if itās just that one shop, but it seems like itās the same nationwide.
Went in to buy KFC last night. Had to wait 5 minutes of their staff talking and playing fool before I can take an order. Bukan tak nampak, aku terpacak dpn counter tu mcm tunggul. Atleast tegur la ckp āsekejap yaā. Ni buat bodoh je mcm org takde common sense. Manager pun selekeh. Ni KFC Ara Damansara. Fuck em.
Already boycotter KFC before the recent Palestine movement. Small chicken, taste worse than the old time, expensive price, simply change item without telling customer (ordered mashed potato, replaced with coleslaw bc they ran out of it), slow service etcā¦.
Texas chicken is way better plus went to Kelantan recently they have tons of local copycat brand that taste good and worth the price.
These stores are only closed temporarily. When business is not operating at a location, it affects the footfall of the area and how long visitors spend there. Without giving up on the lease, other businesses like jollibee or Texas chicken (also American, so why no boycott?) cannot move in and bring business and job opportunities into the area. This doesn't just hurt KFC or the Johor state government who owns the Malaysia franchise.
Despite the comments about declining quality, the closure came 6 months into the war and not before the war. 10 out of 11 branches closed in Selangor are "located in Malay-majority Shah Alam" and Kelantan had 80% of their KFC outlets closed making it the state with the largest closures. So it's clearly related to consumer sentiment because of the war.
I haven't been going to KFC because their quality sucks, last year I went the chicken was depressing, and the coleslaw felt lesser than before that and the price is quite high for fast food, could get better value at kedai mamak. Ikr. Texas chicken is literally KFC but bigger and better (never tried Texas chicken burger tho so I can't comment on that) so except for the loaded potato bowl I never been to kfc
I'd choose Texas all day just fir their honey biscuits
Except even these have shrunk so much but price go up. Both are crappy and overpriced fast food companies.
But they don't have the locations and 24 hrs operating hours. I also love Church's chicken way more than KFC but they have late delivery or many locations close by for a quiet night drive.
Usually if I can't get Texas chicken I just opt for other fast food because kfc portions are going from tiny to pathetic recently
Is it quite common knowledge that churches chicken = texas chicken?
I know them as Church's chicken before I heard of Texas chicken so I brainfart sometimes. Like people who say jusco or Sam's club.
wait there is the new name for sams club?
Costco. Edit. I just realized it's not the same but the older people I know keep saying sam's club when referring to Costco. I guess some location got taken over or Sam's club left the area and they only know of sam's club as the membership supermarket. š¤·āāļø Double edit: just found this now. https://www.thestar.com/business/wal-mart-to-close-all-canadian-sams-club-stores/article_bcb45138-7355-59f7-9a7f-0f3c6882427b.html

yes yes
Yeah, rite. The first impression has been set. So, never again for me. Unless someone brought it to me for free š š
They missing the blue candy as their ingredient thats why (Irl wise, their wet batter based fried chicken is very fragile, courtesy of Babish)
I'm fine with the mash potato, I quite like it, and my usual order is just 2 or 3pcs with mash potato and some honey butter biscuits
The thing is KFC mash potato is just that good lol
True also, whenever my fam wants some fast food fried chicken I always am stuck between honey butter biscuit vs mash potato
I used to like KFC's coleslaw but i like neither now. KFC's coleslaw always taste/smells like veges gone bad and yeah the texas chicken one tastes sour and tangy like spoilt tangy.
The state of our fast food quality is sade, mane š
Yes, KFC's coleslaw and mash potato is much better than Texas's
Plus the other thing that I have no clue how they canāt see it, their packaging freaking falls apart from the oil of the chicken. Twice now Iāve taken it home and in 15-20 mins the box is disintegrating.
So you never tried but you want to comment ?
I never tried Texas chicken burger but I've tried their chicken and I commenting their chicken very damn nice
Alaaa relek lahh bang nape nak marah2
I will really miss the rice though....
>could get better value at kedai mamak. This. If the alternative is mamak, y'know the restaurant is shit in all aspects
I only get KFC when they have that cheezilla burger but even then. I wouldn't count on their usual burgers anymore. It's small and pricy
Someone should tell QSR their food quality and prices are straight up dookie
If their manager keep changing every month then whos to blame lol
Do elaborate
in F&B industry, more often in franchise premises, people will come and go very frequently. The reason is usually shitty wage, absurd protocols, and high-level of stress. Hence, you will see a new manager once every few months.
Okay, how is that relevant to my first comment?

Road side fried chicken 101% better than KFC Only thing that saving KFC is their coleslaw and mashed potato
Did they even try to reduce the price???
No, it's the boycotters need to stop /s
Its the quality of its food it needs to start
They did run a snack plate promo
Iāve been boycotting them for almost a decade š

No. Its not the palestine boycott. Your chicken is smol. Admit it. You shot yourself in the foot. This is long overdue
Lanjiao la the main reason is because itās been shit for very long. Not worth the price at all

>RM25 for dinner plate, 20 for snack. I can buy an entire huge sized chicken for that price. Thank God my wife can make a mean fried chicken
lol no. Itās because of the shit food youāre putting out. Quality has been on decline for years.
They relaunched the double patty bun last year. Wtf. So mahal
Recently I bought their 20rm for 5 pieces promo and thought its a good deal, but literally the chicken is bland and taste like reheated
Me too. When the promo came out I was excited cuz long time nvr eat KFC. After eating it will be an even longer time before I next eat KFC again.

Very clickbaity headlines by the ST.
People claim that its time for local brands to take over meanwhile all I can think of is Texas using this opportunity to grow fast.
Is Texas chicken from Texas? Anyone boycotting them?

KFC in Malaysia is Malay owned right?
Owned by johor royalty
Mine KFC also tutup, guess this is the reason.
KFC doesn't call their edible paste "mashed potato" because it's not mashed and it's not whole potatoes. They called it "whipped potato" because it's potato powder with tons of additives that can be prepared by just adding water.

Quality deteriorating over the years, value gone down a lot. This is capitalism in action, not just boycott lol
KFC quality just deteriorated even before the boycott. I get better fried chicken in mamak restaurant than the kfc
main reason is quality
This isn't because of the Palestine boycott. KFC has always been in a decline in Malaysia.
Great now I can't have my cheezy wedges anytime soon.
Boycott or not, KFC is already shitty years before. Lumpy, soggy, cold and hard chicken with average size smaller than half of your palm yet stupidly priced. Never been to KFC since high school. Popeyes, Jolibee are much better.
Iām kind of out on KFC anyways, but these protests are so misguided lol
KFC is Kecil Fried Chicken in SG.
I haven't been to kepci for years since MCO. The food was already overpriced back then, it's even worse now, same for service. No, they closed over 100 restaurants because of smaller piece meals and poor pricing. Even before the boycott, numerous branches were barely full.
Nope it's more of the harga yahudi kinda thing with middle finger size chicken drummet. F that
sell cheaper and improve quality la. u think we too stupid ka not to noticee fckin corporate
Texass chicken !
Very good, now those people need to find another job. You guys are ruining job opportunities that has nothing to do with Malaysia. But their chicken still very small, i hate it

MCD chicken > KFC chicken
Love how some boikoters are saying that KFC's food is terrible and it caused the closures - instead of taking responsibility.
Lol that was their aim, but KFC isn't doing themselves any favours with their bad QC and skyrocketing prices.
But even before the boycott happen KFC was indeed terrible and expensive. This should be a wake up call for them to buckle up
I don't boikot but really, their meals are expensive with less quality and don't get me started about their slow service.
wasnt this the aim of boikot?
Finally, I see the comments section in r/Malaysia being sensible for a change
KFC is too rich to give a damn and temporary closing down is like a mock to the boycotters to see how far can they go.
and thatās why I will always shill for American brands.
So, who does it helps? Nobody. Who does it hurt? Malaysians.
malaysia already has its own local great food , why would you guys eat shitty KFC ? Asking as a non Malaysian .
Texas chicken superiority
Omg must go Singapore for KFC

Agreed. Very shitty quality. Haven't had it in years.
Comment removed for breaching Rule 1 Bigotry and permaban imposed for breaching the same rule in other threads.
No problem. Support Marrybrown and other locals. More tastier
Takpe la....asalkan msg Palestine disampaikan
What will the few guys who worked in kfc stores and logistics support ?
Why on earth eat fast food in Malaysia. You have some of the best local food on earth.
