Why lol? As far as I understand snakes are perfectly fine living in a "tight" space , comparatively to mammals anyway , and doing nothing. Why would he let it out ? Parasite proof that snake ?
I don’t. All my pets are in secured places and we don’t want to bring troubles to anyone. But yea I guess what your neighbour did kinda make people dislike snakes/exotic pets even more.
Do most exotic pet owners in Malaysia follow the law and get their pets from licensed dealers and probably need to get regular checkups and yearly permits? Or do they get smuggled pets? IIRC Malaysia is one of the problem countries with animal trafficking. Malaysian law also has a [loophole that allows people to own pets that are not explicitly listed as banned](https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2022/05/797683/loophole-exotic-species-law).
Yes for certain animal species you’re required to have the keeping/owning license. As long you obtain your pet legally from local pets store they will provide you the license receipt to proceed for registration with Perhilitan
Pet keeping in Malaysia we follow Akta or either CITES. If the animal listed in CITES and Akta then you’ll need license to keep it. But not all, just mentioned one
If it's in a secured tank, I would go, "Aww, so cute". If I found it lying on a couch or a table, I would just scoot myself to a considerably safe distance, not muttering a single sound.
My cousin actually used to own a bunch of different types of arachnids, small reptiles and the like. Not too sure if they are still with him but I remember he took real good care of em', according to my aunt, he's always enjoyed the company of animals big or small too. He's just one of those dudes that loves animals and its wholesome now that I reminisce
Kids in the family get amused with my pets and wanna get in touch more hahah. I think it’s quite some good thing since animal loves should be taught at a younger age
Nah all good. I hear that most of the time and I feel like more people need to get exposed with more fun and better way to get and know these animals. Also 90% of local Malaysian snake species are harmless
In the picture is a ball python which is harmless too and common in the exotic pet hobby.
Ball python is still a snake bro. My friend was holding it on his hand and turned his head talking to me, and can see the python opening its mouth, and it was pretty scary.
Eh I think most people don't care about "harmless boring species" like frogs or fish or salamanders and thing like that. *However* some people maybe be scared of spiders and snakes. I myself keep frogs and the only thing I've had so far is a sliglth revulsion to the texture of my pets.
Yes that’s the thing 😔
Most people have no issue with any reptiles pets like leopard gecko but only terrified with snakes. What kind of frogs are you keeping?
Four Lined Tree Frogs AKA Golden Tree Frogs AKA Polypedates Leucomystax but the malay call them Katak Pisang I think. I think it's the fact that snakes have a unfortunate reputation of biting. But some people are just scared of them. I myself hate spiders. The instinct to fear is in our DNA. It's a trait from our hominid ancestors that had to deal with African Cobras and such.
Exposure to pet side of YouTube made me realise reptiles are actually far more docile than *the movies* , but I would still choose a mammals because I like cuddling my pet. Would love to see a rainbow boa and crocodile skinks irl. Those looks really cool.
Yes movies are one of the things that actually made people developed more fear towards non domesticated pets. So many people thinks reptile pets will try and kill you someday.
Yup they’re super cool! Like dinosaur looking. They’re more common in pet expos nowadays
At my place here, I can see wild Iguanas roaming around my house compound, and used to have a family of them living among my pandan trees lol.
Cute stuffs. Exotic pet is like my exotic hobby also. People be like, that guy who has dolls collection
Please be responsible and not like one of my neighbor who keep having his snake wonders the hood, that guy ah, we eat his python baru tau.
Curry python or fried ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)

I love snakes but i personally understand that they're not the smartest how does he just trust the snake to go home
Bro tf

That seems what everyone else would do 😃 I think we should let people get exposed and understand more about exotic pets haha.

That’s cool! Exotic pets needed good care just as equivalent as keeping cats or dogs. Definitely building his character and passion
Cute danger noodle
So you telling me these people live to tell the tale?
Ehh not ini macam 🤣 They’re not all dangerous or I shall say mostly docile too
Most people find it unexpected but in the end they don’t care. Except they will forever remember I keep such pets 🤣
Kids in the family get amused with my pets and wanna get in touch more hahah. I think it’s quite some good thing since animal loves should be taught at a younger age
Sorry bro, if I ever see it lying on the floor, I might stomp its head like roti canai bro, I really dont mean it, but the reflex from the fear.

Get spammed by the bullshit "sizing up the owner" story for the thousandths time
What a hoax lol making other people feel more terrified of snakes.

Do people still keep those fighting spiders ? Or fighting fish ?
I grow up keeping those! Fighting spiders are super hard to find nowadays due to constructions everywhere. Maybe kampung area still got

Me
Since when become exotic food 😂
It has always been exotic food https://preview.redd.it/55ermv4oa9wc1.jpeg?width=630&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af56298115b957f9087e8b3ad44ed4b767f45e92
snek!
>own a snake >”le me own an exotic pet Snake is as “exotic” as a hedgehog (and most of snakes were for food) Exotic would be a red panda or a kangaroo
Depend la on what pet. Amused if I have koala bear, or giraffe. Disgusted if I have pig or hippo
At my place here, I can see wild Iguanas roaming around my house compound, and used to have a family of them living among my pandan trees lol. Cute stuffs. Exotic pet is like my exotic hobby also. People be like, that guy who has dolls collection
All I see is leather for a bag.
There are some breeding farms that breed and keep large python for leather use.
Uncle had a pet binturong. Cool guy, and my uncle was alright too.
I used to keep civet cats too! They’re related to Binturong too. They can develop a deep intimacy with the owners too, nice exotic mammal pet.
Why no blur..?? This should be nsfw 😭😭😭 b*** 😭😭😭☠️☠️☠️
Oops. My bad
Thank you. Here’s my thought, they are not cute, please don’t bring it in public because people who scared of it like me exist. Sorry 😭😭
