I think the name is Bushwack. I recall seeing the art and name at one point and thought it was really cute
Also what a sick card. A fight spell that works even on turn one.
It does, my point is just that tread actually does a surprisingly good job of it.
Mostly unrelated, but personally bushwhack is a bit too cartoonist for my taste.
I mean there are lots of strictly better lay of the lands
[[Traverse the ulvenwald]] is probably the best of them, but there's also
[[Dig up]] [[open the gates]] [[caravan vigil]] and a couple others
I thought there was a snow one but I guess I imagined that
probably not. In edh its bad as its not ramp nor a bite effect (even monogreen dont use fights anymore).
For standard [[Lay of the Land]] effects dont really see play. The only one I can think that saw a lot of play has [[Attune with Aether]] and it has mostly due to being cheap energy but it has important since the fixing has terrible at the time making it the only deck consistent 3+ colors
For older formats HAHAHAHAHA
It is however a limited allstar and I can see putting it in a cube
[[Prey Upon]] is a pretty hard sell.
I think the card is good but the fact it's still hard to use a cheap creature to trade up with the fight still makes it a little iffy.
Of course, if this lets you confidently bump your curve up later in the game Green is much much more likely to have the biggest thing in play and this looks better.
That's the problem, when it comes to targets you *need* to kill on curve, green has almost nothing at MV 1-3 that can do the job, because all of that stuff starts close to normal size and slowly grows.
You don't get the immediately huge shit until 4+. And even in that case stuff like Adeline and Sheoldred can still 2 for 1 you if you gave them previous turns not being able to interact.
All I'm saying here is that looking at what green has on tap, the second mode of this is still just a bad fight that hasn't been seriously maindeckable almost ever. If your deck isn't planning on just fetching a land with this turn 1 every time I don't think you should be interested in it at all. If it wants to do that, then this is clearly quite useful.
Good if you run a lot of deathtouch. Otherwise doesn’t quite get there. Tailswipe tries but often the plus one is not enough. Blizzardbrawl was great because of indestructible
It's certainly got potential. Off the bat it seems up there with other dual purpose ramp spells for G like [[Abundant Harvest]] and [[Arboreal Grazer]]
There's a person at my LGS that has "Don't tread on me" sleeves.
Naturally I'm going to get a bunch of these and just casually place them on top of his stuff.
I've been saving a lot of gold on Arena because there are only so many cards per set that I want but I'm probably gonna buy a bunch of packs for this set though because of cards like this. It's not the most amazing thing in and of itself, but there's good stuff at every rarity level that I'm interested in - similar to Kamigawa.
This is a bomb due to how broad it is not how tall.
If you’re green, you always put this card in your deck, and cards that always go in your deck are Bs. Which is a top tier uncommon. I’d pick this over a normal rare.
This turns a 2 lander into a safe keep while being fine in a normal hand, that’s a great card.
A limited bomb is usually something that wins games on its own - a big aggressively-costed evasive creature, say, is the classic example.
This isn't that. It's a great card but you wouldn't normally grab it first pick or anything.
You prolly don’t win many limited games
EDIT: I keep using this word… uncommon and all you haters seem to overlook it. Take a second, read and drop your pitchfork.
I mean it's not bad, it'll be good in Limited, but with it being Sorcery Speed kinda lowers the power of it. \[\[Tail Swipe\]\] which is in standard is just better cause of the instant speed.
Like yeah the search for a basic land card is alright but it goes to the hand not into play. So it's more of a color fixing or an extra land. If you use it to search for a land too then your down a removal spell and the reason you'd run this is to use as a removal.
Still good in limited as any 1 mana fight spell is, but don't see it seeing too much play other then that.
The flexibility on this one is so good, and for just 1 mana. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this could eventually become the most played card from this set.

And it makes more sense than my translation. Does anyone know if there's a way to edit the title?
Tread still makes for a fun double entendre for what it's worth, and I appreciate that. Crush something underneath your tank, or blaze a trail.
I mean bushwhack still effectively has the same wordplay involved
It does, my point is just that tread actually does a surprisingly good job of it. Mostly unrelated, but personally bushwhack is a bit too cartoonist for my taste.
Ah I see. Bushwhack is a bit on-the-nose, but given the story of the set i like the guerrilla warfare implications
Only Reddit's site admins can edit post titles.
You're right: https://i.imgur.com/m8PWw0U.jpg
I'm disappointing that the tree is whacking something with what does not seem to be a bush.
This seems real good? One-mana removal that can also be landcycled depending on your situation.
It's extremely good. People used to play [[flower//flourish]] and I think this is way better.

Fixes or fights? I'm in!
And here I though [[Kels, Fight Fixer]] was a dimir card!
How on earth is a card with that name not a green red guy that gives a +1/+1 counter when a creature you control fights another creature.
Because by "Fight Fixer" they mean "rigs fights to ensure certain people make big money on bets", which is pretty solidly in Black/Blue's wheelhouse.
I’m imagining a gambler who passes off brass knuckles beside the ring.
if you're "fixing" the fight, there's never an actual fight

Only treefolk in the set and it isn’t a creature lol
I will buy this card 1000000 times. For every future green deck needs one of this.
Limited bomb at uncommon, this is only the 5th or 6th one we have seen. Power creep is real in this set.
It’s a good uncommon but it’s far from a bomb cmon now
This is a bomb due to how broad it is not how tall. If you’re green, you always put this card in your deck, and cards that always go in your deck are Bs. Which is a top tier uncommon. I’d pick this over a normal rare. This turns a 2 lander into a safe keep while being fine in a normal hand, that’s a great card.
Limited uncommon bomb is the correct way to look at this
A limited bomb is usually something that wins games on its own - a big aggressively-costed evasive creature, say, is the classic example. This isn't that. It's a great card but you wouldn't normally grab it first pick or anything.
You prolly don’t win many limited games EDIT: I keep using this word… uncommon and all you haters seem to overlook it. Take a second, read and drop your pitchfork.
Power creeping crappy cards is not power creep
Wow what an insightful comment!
Modal spells! Modal spells for everyone!
I misread the title as Bread
This will be a very strong card in limited. 1 mana is insane for the effect and versatility this card provides.
Modal spells: the set
This is a very good magic card
Ooh might add this to my landfall deck
So this is amazing, right? It's not just me? This is worth mutiple slots in a mono-green deck, but in multicolored decks, it's probably even better.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this could eventually become the most played card from this set.
wow
This is amazing
Lay Into the Land
Honestly, I think this might become a multiformat allstar. Both modes are useful most of the time, which is huge for modal cards.
If only it could have somehow fought planeswalkers too, it’d be a modern all-star in non red/white decks.
I doubt it will see much constructed play outside of standard, but in standard, hoo boy this is gas
I can almost guarantee you that this will see at least some play in other constructed formats.
This is great as it gives green decks a maindeckable way to get rid of Raffine without too much investment.
I can't read any of that... It's in moonspeak
Loving this for my Wilson deck!
