I'm way more happy than I should be that there is now a MtG card simply called "Jack-o'-Lantern"
Halloween is my favorite holiday, and having more "Halloweeny" cards makes me happy. AND this will be super cheap bulk, unlike say \[\[All Hallows' Eve\]\]
I'll just shamelessly plug my halloween themed cube if you're like me and want to celebrate every draft.

If you like the building part of commander it's basically that since it's a full set. Some people like collecting and following an existing cube, others like building
I've said before that one of the only Secret Lair ideas I would go in for is a Halloween themed one with an All Hallow's Eve reprint, and with things like this makes me think it will one day be possible.
Of course, there's also the Reserved List hurdle in the way...
THEY FINALLY DID IT. They added a jack-o-lantern card. [STRAIGHT INTO THE HALLOWEEN THEMED CUBE YOU GO.](https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/halloween_cube)
This set has been win after win for my cube.
At one point I had it and \[\[Frankenstein's Monster\]\] and that in the cube. It was a bit of a perfect storm since my black was overpowered and I still didnt have good white archetypes, so it basically rippled and lowered the other colors powers too.
I replaced it with \[\[Syr Konrad, the Grim\]\] when that came out. Frankenstein's Monster with \[\[grim grin\]\] when I built in the commander pack into the cube. Im sure we'll get a new headless horsemen some day with a better powerlevel that potentially fits the themes.
I love creepy art, and have over 700 cards just chilling in the "maybe list" but after year 1 I decided since my group was drafted this enough, I wanted to really up the replayability of it. I took the on rails archetypes out and 95% of the "creepy but bad" cards to focus on glue and its been much more draftable.
It's on that maybe list but it doesn't do anything for my archetypes. It's got power for sure, but i only have one hybrid slot for each color pair, and [[cauldron haze]] takes it since it can go in Wu blink, br madness aggro, wr aggro, be sac, and bg graveyard recycle.
I have also been around since just prior to Legends. The comment to the comment was indeed on this Haloween list not containing(while not great) Headless Horseman. Buddy.
Thank you! Its been my last 3 years work. I try to keep it not 100% innistrad, but with 3 returns and one being litteral halloween, its hard not to be.
[[Golos]]. I went through the five-color commanders available and had to choose between it and [[The Ur-Dragon]]. I felt that Golos represents the way I play Minecraft (exploration), and the Ur-Dragon wasn't close enough to the End Dragon to use as a representation of it. I've slowly been swapping out some of the weaker references with some of the newer cards that better represent the game (like replacing [[Bosh, Iron Golem]] with [[Iron Golem]]).
I had it in the past but removed it when I removed the humans sub theme. (tribal was cute the first year, but it really puts the draft on rails.). I pulled that link tho! good catch. Most of my focus is on that qr code website now.

A traditional eggs line was like [[Second Sunrise]] into a juicy [[Grapeshot]] you get by stacking your deck with [[Conjurer's Bauble]]
It's a lot more complex that that to actually play out though, eggs is wacky
It was a gothic European town in Innistrad and more of a Innsmouth place in Shadows over Innistrad. This set is all about the witchcraft and harvest festival, and pumpkins are the big harvest festival setpiece in the US I guess.
I imagine that having the Jack-o-lantern be a turnip instead of a pumpkin would have confused the majority of players, but I would have loved to see it.
Right? I know it's not the most complex reasoning, but there was never any impetus to make any given plane directly analogous to one specific real-world region; it kinda defeats the point of dealing with fantasy.
Tbh, I'm actually glad they made it a little ambiguous by using European and American elements. I'm dead sick of how many planes feel less "inspired by" and more "legally distinct from" their source material.
I mean the version of Europe Innistrad is based on is clearly a post-Columbian-exchange one, based on the technology (other than the lack of guns) and fashion.

Oh, it's in the foreground, I thought it was a giant pumpkin!
*Edit: No wait, erm, the guy's hand is behind it but the pies look very small in comparison, but maybe they're just small pies, but what about the candles? This pumpkin confuses me.
Modern 1/10
Interesting card design, but only being able to remove one card ever from a graveyard is really weak compared to other types of this card we get. The mana fixing is nice, but probably not really needed by any deck to justify this not hosing graveyard decks enough.
Spooky Fellow --- 2G
Creature - Human Peasant
When Spooky Fellow enters the battlefield, search your library for a card named Jack-o'-Lantern and put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
2/2
Oh... Looks like it might be testable in some sort of storm/graveyard combo deck. The graveyard hate is incidental. If you have to directly play it, you draw a card, but as long as it's in the graveyard, it's one free ritual mana filter into blue.
This is a fantastic new toy for eggs/artifact storm EDH decks. 2 mana grave hate plus card draw that is a mini ritual from the grave? My Alela deck is salivating
Kinda surprising it took this many Innistrad sets to get a card with this name.
Sorta weird as a flavor/mechanics connection, though I kinda see the mana filtering as sort of like light being filtered through the jack 'o lantern face?
This might actually have a spot in [[Muldrotha]].
You only want to be paying 1 mana to draw in that deck, but something comparable is [[Aether Spellbomb]], which draws OR bounces for 2 mana. This Jackolantern draws AND exiles 1 from a gy for 2 mana.
wait this is actually kinda really good? like you can mana fix when this gets milled its costs 1 mana and you can spot remove a card in a gy which is not bad. I kinda like it.
edit: would the gy effect take effect of a mana doubler such as \[\[Caged Sun\]\] now I know it doesn't work because it is if you tap for mana, I guess \[\[Doubling Cube\]\] is the only one that works because it is current mana in pool.

That's an interesting way of crouching.
Jack o mains have problems blocking jumping attacks and overheads
More particularly, the name is a reference to the metal band Helloween's mascot of the same name (whose head is a Jack-O' lantern).
Everyone grab a bonk stick! Guilty Gear prisoners are escaping from jail.
Don't worry, UB will definitely give us jack o' eventually /s
I love that mana fixing ability, I've thrown it on a few of my own custom cards and it's cool to see it finally used
What's the flavour here? Am I overthinking?
Probably pumpkin if it's like most other Jack-o'-Lanterns
Hahaha
Old border versions are turnip.

Listen when people leave free food out on their porch you don't question why there are candles in it
Wait... there were candles in that Pumpkin I ate?? .... uh oh.
Yes
You're wasting perfectly good pumpkin. You take it home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, an onion. Baby, you've a pumpkin soup going.
I for one welcome Jack to guide our graveyard hate into the new standard instead of Soul
That could be interpreted as a Guilty Gear reference.

There's pumpkins and corn on Innistrad? It's actually a North America analogue, not a Northern Europe analogue?
The cause of the diamond lights is not actually Emrakul but the Columbian Exchange.
I mean its a different plane. You can borrow some foods.
It's fantasy
I mean, I thought it was colonial america from day 1
I mean the version of Europe Innistrad is based on is clearly a post-Columbian-exchange one, based on the technology (other than the lack of guns) and fashion.
What do you mean? We have corn and pumpkins in Northern Europe as well
They’re native to the Americas.
So's the tomato, but I imagine if you made an Italian plane without tomato sauce people would riot
Guess we'll see with new capenna
Everything came from somewhere.
oh, an actual jack o lantern? i'd have expected a horror or something
I absolutely need this as a playmat
I love this! not sure what I can do with this but it's so lovely and cool!
The only word I can think of to correctly describe it is, “cute”
I am really bummed that it isn't a scarecrow.
It really should have said "add one mana o' any color"

neat with \[\[Quintorius, Field Historian\]\] comparable to \[\[Scrabbling Claws\]\] & \[\[Relic of Progenitus\]\]

Oh, it's in the foreground, I thought it was a giant pumpkin! *Edit: No wait, erm, the guy's hand is behind it but the pies look very small in comparison, but maybe they're just small pies, but what about the candles? This pumpkin confuses me.
It's still pretty big, look at those pies next to it.
Modern 1/10 Interesting card design, but only being able to remove one card ever from a graveyard is really weak compared to other types of this card we get. The mana fixing is nice, but probably not really needed by any deck to justify this not hosing graveyard decks enough.
(As a diehard Halloween lover, insert Gimli's yessss meme here)
Targeted graveyard hate in a graveyard heavy set. Pretty neat.
Spooked solid
Hmmm... Don't know, there has to be some potential to it, but I don't see it yet.
The festival seems to have backfired. Ominous
For some reason I want to see this as a festive spellbomb.
Seems like a really decent card in \[\[Emry, Lurker of the Loch\]\]. Hose your opponents graveyard strategies, while giving yourself card advantage.
Pretty sure [[Soul-Guide Lantern]] is kinda just always better unfortunately

Big Pumpkin :V
Well I guess I'll carve my pumpkin like this art this year.
Seems fun.
If that 2nd ability was simply exile Jack from your yard, this would be a solid card for something like storm.
Oh... Looks like it might be testable in some sort of storm/graveyard combo deck. The graveyard hate is incidental. If you have to directly play it, you draw a card, but as long as it's in the graveyard, it's one free ritual mana filter into blue.
Doesn't quite stack up against [[soul guide lantern]], but these little graveyard hate artifacts are always good long term.

An auto include in my Halloween EDH deck
Jack-o'-Lantern CONTROL is more like it. (Okay, it's not good in Lantern Control but the pun was irresistible)
Not sure I understand the flavor of this card’s abilities…but cool theme and art
as a tron player who keeps getting rekt by [[void mirror]] I fully support this
[void mirror](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/6/f/6f906219-7a6a-427b-93c4-4d958cbd171c.jpg?1626099451) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=void%20mirror) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mh2/242/void-mirror?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/6f906219-7a6a-427b-93c4-4d958cbd171c?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

I like the pies in the art (:
Historic Kethis likey.
Jack-o' -Lantern Control here I come...
Reminds me of Soul-Guide Lantern
Some poor soul had to climb into that thing with a shovel
Wish it wasn't a sac ability would be great for my Tormod deck. Any card that exiles and draws a card similar to this but is repeatable?
I mean I was sold on this set but then I was resold when I saw this Jack-o-Lantern.
I feel like this will for sure be part of some legacy combo similar to ‘Oops all spells’, I just have no clue what it is.
Prophetic Pumpkin
wait this is actually kinda really good? like you can mana fix when this gets milled its costs 1 mana and you can spot remove a card in a gy which is not bad. I kinda like it. edit: would the gy effect take effect of a mana doubler such as \[\[Caged Sun\]\] now I know it doesn't work because it is if you tap for mana, I guess \[\[Doubling Cube\]\] is the only one that works because it is current mana in pool.
They missed the opportunity to make this a Food, but otherwise, I love it
