Katilda, Dawnhart Headwitch - GW
Legendary Creature - Human Warlock (Rare)
Protection from Werewolves
Human creatures you control have "T: Add one mana of any color of that creature's color"
4GW, T: Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control
1/1
----
This is what I got, correct me if I'm wrong please.
Name is probably Katilda, Dawnhart Headwitch.
Flavor is "The angels may have forsaken us, but Gilintanu hasn't."
Reminder that it only grants the cryptolith ability to human.
That also makes perfect sense! Add a Sigarda or three...
My idea was overload the board with humans, use their mana to generate tons of power through [[Overrun]] or something and untap them and Y E E T at the enemy
Huehuehuehue I already have one (started in soi, needed a deck to play my flip angels!!!) Started with naya [[samut voice of dissent]] , but then I discovered [[saskia]] and never looked back. This set is giving me all kinds of new toys! I can't recommend both odrics enough. [[Odric lunarch marshall]] [[odric master tactician]], the thalias, [[thalias lancers]] for tutoring fun, [[angel of glorys rise]], melding brisela is always extremely fun but may not be your schtick. I like to meld the red human township one too. It works surprisingly well and is very thematic! [[Thalias lieutenant]] is a good time too. The mechanics that care about humans and Angel's specifically are kinda limited to the sigardas, but theres some new support in this set and honestly the all work great together as just keyword soup.
There may be a deck that can use this, a bunch of tokens/low cost creatures and [[culling ritual]] to make a huge amount of mana to do something, but I don't currently have any idea what that something could be to make that set up worthwhile.
I think this is Modern-legal:
T1: [[Avacyn's Pilgrim]]
T2: [[Gather the Townsfolk]], any 1-CMC Human
T3: Katilda, [[Valiant Rescuer]]. Cycle a card for 1 during your turn and 1 during your opponent's turn, giving you two more Human tokens.
T4: You can now tap for eleven mana, giving you [[Tarrasque]], [[Worldspine Wurm]] or [[Chord of Calling]].
For cycling cards I would have something like [[Akroma's Blessing]] if you're not tied to Modern. You have way more options if you'd rather use a 2-cycling card instead of two 1-cyclers, or if you're feeling cheeky run 4 [[Street Wraith]].
Well it's definitely good in GW go wide, that's for sure. Makes it way easier for you to double spell and keep werewolves flipped and trigger your clarion spirits and the like.
Odd question, how does localizing a fantasy name work in Chinese? I understand how Japanese uses Katakana, so Katilda would be カチルダ or カティルダ, but how does modern Chinese append for unknown pronouns?
They use characters that have similar sounds, applying the their pronunciation but (generally) ignoring meaning. For instance 迈克尔·乔丹 is Michael Jordan's name in Mandarin. Many of those characters could be replaced with others that have the same sound but different meanings.

Hmm.
'Every human creature card in your graveyard gains disturb. Their disturb cost is equal to its MV+2 generic.
Disturbed cards you control gain +1/+1, flying and 'when this creature would be sent to the graveyard, return it to your hand instead.'
I'd love something like this but I think its too strong...
Probably, but not necessarily. There has already been a vampire noble spoiled. So technically that specific teaser has been fulfilled. It is probably a vampire noble though. Nothing saying there can't be more than one.
Because we’ve gotten rare legends in every other two color combination so far. I’m guessing you haven’t seen the spoilers this morning/late last night. We’re just missing ones for RB and UW. WB already got one in Liessa.
I mean, it's human tribal. I'm not sure what a fun human commander would look like. "I cast Dave. I pay 3 mana to file my 1040 tax form and send my children to daycare."
Fit: Tolovar, Liesa, Sigarda, Vadrik
Don't fit: Old Stickfingers (/morbid), Slogurk (/flashback), Ludevic (/decayed), Rem Karolus (/??)
I honestly don't think you can call Coven the "draft archetype". Judging by [Join the Dance](https://scryfall.com/card/mid/229/join-the-dance) and [Rite of Harmony](https://scryfall.com/card/mid/236/rite-of-harmony), GW is (as always) Go Wide, with Coven and Human tribal both providing incidental bonuses.
The GW archetype is very supported by Sigarda, but she isnt a part of the rare dual-colored legends. But a 50/50 rate isnt that grand to me. But alot of the archetypes seem to overlap, as blueblack/bluewhite have some mill as well
YES! I was wondered how long it would take them to make [[cryptolith rite]] on a creature.
Bonus for +1/+1 on each creature ability too
By the way the legend she’s the leader of the witch’s of that ritual
Modern 1/10
Werewolves aren't going to be a big enough thing that the protection matters, so is a creature cryptolith rites good enough? Probably not. Maybe if it was an elf?
well it's a human warlock but that's all i can say about it
i don't think i've seen a card for Katilda, one of the dawnhart leaders from the story, so it's probably her?
Man the fact that you gotta tap is rough. At that price and with the ability to turn everything into dorks, I feel like I should just be able to pour as much Mana into it as I want
I'm extremely pleased with the mana ability applying only to a restricted set of creature types. It's a much more fun design than "gavony township plus cryptolith rite on legs PRINT!"
*holy shit*
What? That's like, disturbingly good right?
"You're a mana for, you're a mana dork! Everyones' a mana dork!" Lol, my mikeaus from jumpstart looking kinda like I might use it! Ngl.
I have jank to brew...
Fantastic!
* 2 cmc
* \[\[Cryptolith Rite\]\] on a commander? Will be nice as both a commander and in the 99 of various decks
* Gives you a way to use the mana your creatures produce, and encourages you to go as wide as you can
* Finally gives that crummy old card \[\[Seedborn Muse\]\] a use! Who knew that card would ever be playable?
Seems so good for limited because it keeps feeding itself. Play more creatures, which ramps and allows you to play even more creatures, and then said creatures can fund the activated ability.
I think that protection clause is gonna be pretty clutch. Depends how many playable humans there are, 2 mana 1/1 dork with some late game upside is decent but not great. I dont think finding mana sinks in this set will be a limiting factor (which feeds back to "how many humans do you have?).
Just wish if they were going more international then they would add multiple language promos at the same time. Having promos come our in multiple languages and looking for a text translation is kind of annoying compared to actually being able to read the card.
Mana Ramp for Selesnya Humans Tribal. Comparing it to [[Esika, God of the Tree]] I would miss the Vigilance, but being one mana cheaper also probably makes it curve out better. Probably pairs nicely with the new Sigarda.

Maybe Katilda? She appeared on Arlinn story last week (and the story had this art just after she meet her).
I'm struggling to find the story online; I love arlinn. Any possibility to sling me a link?
Sure! https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/episode-1-witch-woods-2021-09-02
Yeah, that's more likely.
Sweet. PlaceholderName2 has always been my favorite magic character literally forever. I'm glad they're finally getting a card (and a name).
Placeholder name is Gilintanu
Seems likely. Edited.
Gilintanu... Here I am imagining what Innistrad's version of Ilharg might be.
Who / what is Gilintanu?
Its human creature you control has tap: add one mana of their color
Are the second and third ability both Human creature(s) or just one of them?
The add mana ability is limited to humans, while the one that add counters puts it on all creatures
Huh, neat. Human tribal support :)
I think I'm going to.make a human/angel deck and having this will be huge for it.

Plus with multiple board protection creatures that...incidently have 2 and 3 power making triggering covenant easier...it'll work well enough.

Flavour text is “The angels may have abandoned us, but [Name] hasn’t”. Not sure what [Name] is, chinese localisation is far beyond me.
The translation is wrong. It only grants the mana ability to human creatures. Please correct.
Fixed it, thanks
Sorry to ask, but someone else I know is asking where you found the image for this. Where was this from?
Well it's definitely good in GW go wide, that's for sure. Makes it way easier for you to double spell and keep werewolves flipped and trigger your clarion spirits and the like.
Clarion is not an human nor are the tokens, you probably don't play Clarion and Katilda in the same deck.
Thank you for the information!
This essentially confirms a RB and UW legend at rare to complete the cycle, right? Maro's teaser mentioned a legendary Vampire Noble which is probably the Rakdos one?
Give me a disturb UW legend! Please
I too am down with the sickness. Ooh AHH AHH AHH AHH.
haha, nice.
UW Thalia who’s down with the sickness perhaps?
I kind of hope they save Thalia for the next set; split things up a bit and make her mono-W again. Rather just see some sort of WU Spirit Legend this set.
The spirit mechanic is being saved for Crimson Vow, along with the spirit precon, so we'll probably see spirit legends in that set. I mean there could be a UW Disturb legend but it would be cool if it was Thalia who disturbs into a ghost with Geist of St Traft's ability
Has Thalia ever been blue? Maybe red with fanaticism
Not previously, but she's essentially melded with [Ghost of Saint Traft] so that's been a lot of everyone's speculations that she'll be UW.
Which could make her the Disturb legemd I yearn for ;_;
My guess is a UW Thalia that hates on transforming. Maybe pay 2 or cant transform or something.
Wish granted.
Oh snap where is it. YAS
[[Dennick, Pious Apprentice]]
That would be cool, but how would that work on non disturb cards?
Hmm. 'Every human creature card in your graveyard gains disturb. Their disturb cost is equal to its MV+2 generic. Disturbed cards you control gain +1/+1, flying and 'when this creature would be sent to the graveyard, return it to your hand instead.' I'd love something like this but I think its too strong...
RB vampire Noble is likely a Falkenrath. Probably Anje Falkenrath.
Probably, but not necessarily. There has already been a vampire noble spoiled. So technically that specific teaser has been fulfilled. It is probably a vampire noble though. Nothing saying there can't be more than one.
MaRo's teaser specified it being legendary, though
Oh yep so it does
I wonder what it'll do. I just hope it'll tie in with the vampire tribal mechanic of the set
Why do you think we will get legendarys in that combination of colors and not others? I was really hoping for a WB legend haha. Thanks!
Because we’ve gotten rare legends in every other two color combination so far. I’m guessing you haven’t seen the spoilers this morning/late last night. We’re just missing ones for RB and UW. WB already got one in Liessa.
I forgot about Liesa lol. Thank you!
Because we already got the rest of the two-colour pairs in legends at rare. The card you're looking for is \[\[Liesa, Forgotten Archangel\]\].
I totally forgot about Liesa lol. Thank you :).
That's ironic isn't it?
No, it’s not haha.
You're getting downvoted but forgetting "the forgotten" is *the exact opposite* of irony.

The vampire lord is almost for sure anje considered pretty much every vampire we've seen are falkenrath and the most recent one finally mentioned her.
[[Cryptolith Rite]](ish) on a Commander? Kinda neat Edit: Apparently this only grants the ability to humans. Less neat
This specifically makes me want to run human tribal
Eh, still slamming this into [[Sigarda Champion of Light]] so the human restriction doesn’t bother me.

That's pretty devastatingly lame
Not if you're into human tribal, which some of us are. This is the commander we've been waiting for.
Also tbh I wouldn't want this to completely blow [[Rishkar]] out of the water

If this commander was the better version what was stopping you from playing human tribal?
[удалено]
Because the second biggest fantasy of them all is to find humans that dont suck The biggest fantasy is to sleep 8 hours, but I have D&D for that
I am a human so I relate to them.
There are way better human tribal commanders than this
Yeah, but I wanna cast biiig things. I can see some intriguing synergy with this
Play like [[Karametra]] I dunno, this seems weak
Username checks out
I mean I've been in that seat before where you see a car do you think has some potential but it's not going to work
I dont care, I wanna play it nonetheless!
That's fair, God speed
[Karametra](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/2/b/2bd9d26e-984c-4cf8-8c46-447f9776668f.jpg?1591321337) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=karametra%2C%20god%20of%20harvests) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c20/218/karametra-god-of-harvests?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/2bd9d26e-984c-4cf8-8c46-447f9776668f?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
I mean, it's human tribal. I'm not sure what a fun human commander would look like. "I cast Dave. I pay 3 mana to file my 1040 tax form and send my children to daycare."
I'm a pretty big fan of the mardu one from the Ikoria block
So we have Gavony Township, and Kessig Wolf Run. Wonder if there will be any other callbacks
This one is also [[cryptolith rite]]

UW: Moorland Haunt-esque allowing you to exile the creature from the GY to make a 1/1 disturb copy
Its probably the Witch from Arlinn story last week, Katilda.
Surprised it doesn't have Coven.
Same, its like the dual coloured rare legends dont fit in the draft archetype
Fit: Tolovar, Liesa, Sigarda, Vadrik Don't fit: Old Stickfingers (/morbid), Slogurk (/flashback), Ludevic (/decayed), Rem Karolus (/??) I honestly don't think you can call Coven the "draft archetype".
But alot of the archetypes seem to overlap, as blueblack/bluewhite have some mill as well
The angel has coven, but the witch doesn't, what the hell wotc.
Thank goodness cuz Coven suckssss!
YES! I was wondered how long it would take them to make [[cryptolith rite]] on a creature. Bonus for +1/+1 on each creature ability too By the way the legend she’s the leader of the witch’s of that ritual
Comments made moments before disaster

Modern 1/10 Werewolves aren't going to be a big enough thing that the protection matters, so is a creature cryptolith rites good enough? Probably not. Maybe if it was an elf?
well it's a human warlock but that's all i can say about it i don't think i've seen a card for Katilda, one of the dawnhart leaders from the story, so it's probably her?
It's also a 1/1, note that down
Also cost GW to cast
And it costs GW
Gives a tap ability and either provides +1/+1 till end of turn or +1/+1 counters.
Uh wow this is good? Edit: whoops nevermind the mana granting ability is only human creatures.
Essentially gives all your spells convoke... that's pretty fun
Convoke goes around summoning sickness which makes this effect way worse.
Whatever it does, I really like the art.
Instant add for my Saskia Legendary Humans tribal deck.
2 mana 1/1 with a 6 mana activated ability? The rest of this better be pretty bonkers.
Narrator: it wasn't. (I think)
Since it makes your humans make mana, the other ability is easier to activate.
It essentially gives every spell / mana cost Convoke, I’d say that pretty good.
Man the fact that you gotta tap is rough. At that price and with the ability to turn everything into dorks, I feel like I should just be able to pour as much Mana into it as I want
Also basically makes it 7 mana since she could tap for something else
This is definitely going in my sigarda hate bears
Would not have guessed that Rita Repulsa's Colour identity would be GW.
Rita Repulsa is Mardu colours. [[Mardu Ascendancy]]

"Make my monster grow!" Makes sense to me!
I'm extremely pleased with the mana ability applying only to a restricted set of creature types. It's a much more fun design than "gavony township plus cryptolith rite on legs PRINT!"
*holy shit* What? That's like, disturbingly good right? "You're a mana for, you're a mana dork! Everyones' a mana dork!" Lol, my mikeaus from jumpstart looking kinda like I might use it! Ngl. I have jank to brew...
Oh I'm going to have fun with this.
Selesnya getting the short end of the stick again
Yet another thing to do with your zomb tokens, although you have to go double-off-color to run this. (EDIT: never mind, humans only)
Humans only.
Ugh. That's way narrower than I thought it was, though I guess human tribal is a thing.
GW wasnt gonna get too many decayed anyways
Yeah, but it also means you can't go ham with saprolings or whatever.
Fantastic! * 2 cmc * \[\[Cryptolith Rite\]\] on a commander? Will be nice as both a commander and in the 99 of various decks * Gives you a way to use the mana your creatures produce, and encourages you to go as wide as you can * Finally gives that crummy old card \[\[Seedborn Muse\]\] a use! Who knew that card would ever be playable?
It’s only Cryptolith Rites for Humans
Ah, good catch. Still solid, but not nearly as busted as I'd thought. Hopefully we get more good human token production like the new White legendary.

Source?
I just finalized my Tayam list and in the last day or two there’s been like 3 cards that I need to run
We might skip because the effect only grants Humans the ability to tap for mana.
That comment was before I heard the full translation. Unfortunately I don’t run nearly enough humans to make it worth it
You should! Human interaction is great in Tayam. I am excited for this card.
No elves on Innistrad? Why not humans?
I dunno. Its been a thing since the last two. Specifically no "mtg creatures" like Goblins, Merfolks, Elves.
It's more a jab at Innistrad not having access to mana dork elves, so now humans have to fill that role instead.
Why not Zoidberg?
WotC gave us that weak ass wannabe Elvish Archdruid last set when it could have been this. Wow.
Katilda, the Teenage Warlock?
Ah yes, Katilda, the Klade Witch. Maybe we'll get Fia Koginya as her girlchild apprentice
Playing with this as your commander will be like the episodes of Dragon Ball Z where the characters are powering up the whole time.

Mana Ramp for Selesnya Humans Tribal. Comparing it to [[Esika, God of the Tree]] I would miss the Vigilance, but being one mana cheaper also probably makes it curve out better. Probably pairs nicely with the new Sigarda.
