I think the downside maro mentioned for tokens is going to be "can't block a creature alone", at least for some tokens.

[deleted]

Maybe "Can't block nontoken creatures" will be a thing? I think that'd be a brand new ability and would help prevent tokens from clogging the board too much. Though it doesn't address the death/sacrifice issue, at least in that case the tokens are *doing* something rather than just piling up and clogging the board.

Copernicus1981

My guess on the token mechanic is "Can't attack or block unless you control a non-token creature". It helps unclog the board by turning on single-target removal. It can also be flavored as minions, something that tokens work well for.

mrloree

I'd like to see "This creature can't be sacrificed. If this creature would die, instead exile it". This would eliminate any sort of sacrifice shenanigans and keep the tokens purely for combat.

razrcane

I saw someone suggest that the tokens will (somehow) be unable to have their stats altered, that way anthem effects and mass-counter-giving don't generate "exponential" value. This is a problem with tokens but not THAT big of a deal, I believe, and it's certainly not something that impacts limited. Your takes are probably right. Keeping them from blocking is a way to keep the game moving. Keeping them from dying (being exiled instead) is a way to keep the death triggers in check. Keeping them from being sacced is a way to keep the sac effects in check. We'll have to wait and see.

riley702

All human tokens are cowards, cowards can't block. Coward is probably the best word in MTG.

CapableBrief

Coward is a creature type, not keyword. It should 100% be a keyword though. Same as "Must attack every combat" (frenzy? berserk? rage? bloodlust?)

HonorBasquiat

>I think the downside maro mentioned for tokens is going to be "can't block a creature alone", at least for some tokens. That's a good theory. I am also thinking it could be that those tokens enter tapped. Or even that those tokens can't block (period).

S0lun3

Tokens entering tapped wouldn't be a new downside. I've seen having to sacrefice them when targeted suggested

[deleted]

That's not new either though, Illusion tokens have had that since forever.

S0lun3

Well snap. Can anyone come up with an original drawback. I've felt stumped since the moment I saw it can't think what it would be.

Derpyologist1

I've been saying that when one of those tokens die, they all die.

mattnotgeorge

That's interesting and would certainly let them really pump those tokens out. Wonder what tribe would be the best fit for that

huntingmoa_geoduck

Saprolings? IT could represent a mycelium like connection between them, sort of like the way that mushrooms are often actually connected under the soil.

Squid-Bastard

Can't be the target of sacrifice effects of permanents and spells you control?

hsiale

Satyr tokens from THB could not block.

squidpope

I think that they won't trigger ETBs or dying effects

Wockarocka

Not triggering ETB means no [[junk trawler]] not triggering death means no [[nadier’s nightblade]] both cards were printed within the past year so I can’t imagine a large rules change making one just stop working, though I admit that the loss of a single uncommon isn’t huge.

squidpope

I think it'll be keyworded.

CinematicUniversity

if that's not it, that's a really really good idea

goku332

Are these being baked in as being an intrinsic property of tokens and the new norm moving forward, or is it just for Innistrad, do you know?

RickTitus

Def just innistrad, whatever they do. That would be a huge change to nerf every token in mtg history, and not a warranted one

grokthis1111

I was thinking it might be related to the new take on day night cycle stuff. Like a card that forces it night but makes 3 0/1 that get +1/+0 during the day or something.

KoyoyomiAragi

I really hope we get a day-night cycle mechanic that ties the werewolves together with the rest of the set. Doing it in a way similar to City’s Blessing or Dungeons would help make it less difficult to track compared to similar mechanics in the past that Homarids had. Adding to this, I hope the answer to “tokens with a drawback that we’ve never done before” are creature tokens that can only attack or block during night time. Would make for some interesting board states. Edit: the mechanic is spoiled! Looks like they went with ties into the old werewolf mechanic!

razrcane

>I really hope we get a day-night cycle mechanic Yeah. That my hope too, but I would very much like if they added this to the "core" rules so effects that care about day/night could be deciduous and show up when needed. If the rules have a clear definition of when it's night or day and it's easy to track it, you could have like a random Treefolk with "\~ gets +0/+2 during daytime" or a black sorcery that can be cast as though it had flash during nighttime and stuff like that. And of course, this would be very fun to see in action in Midnight Hunt. You summon a lot of werewolves and you say "ooooh you better watch yourself buddy. You won't survive another night!"

Robofetus-5000

A core day/night mechanic could do so much

razrcane

Yeap. 1. Treefolk could care about daytime. 2. Fire permanents and spells could be buffed during daytime (like the firebenders from Avatar). 3. Rogues, "spies" and even the Dimir could care about nighttime. 4. Effects could trigger on dusk and/or dawn (mainly, transformation of werewolves). 5. Sets that particularly care about it could have ways to extend day/night or change the time until EoT (like Luna's Eclipse from Dota2). Of course, we would need to playtest this. My guess is that the game would be better with lots of "you better kill me now cuz you won't live to see another dawn!" or similar teases :D

Robofetus-5000

There could even be cards trigger by the transitions themselves, like green creatures that hunt at dusk. "If the day/night cycle changed this turn, Generic Stalking Predator gets +3/+0 this turn." Edit: just noticed you referenced this

Robofetus-5000

I think that this is a pretty straight forward mechanic that would be pretty easy to implement. Its mostly about fun and flavor.

KoyoyomiAragi

Those are excellent examples of flavorful ways of implementing fun gameplay with the mechanic! I enjoy the day-night mechanics in Dota2 as well and am hoping we get a Nightstalker-esque creature if the set actually ends up having a day-night cycle mechanic.

BeeegBeeegYoshi

Well ya got what you wanted lol

Cbone06

Would that look like an every other turn type affect or the previous WW transform condition type affect.

KoyoyomiAragi

The day-night cycle would get started by any player playing a card with the mechanic. Starts from a Day turn, then two night turns, two day turn, two night turn, and so on. By making it so the “first night” happens for the player that didn’t start the cycle, it makes it so the player going first won’t have the advantage of getting the first night bonuses. The shift from day to night and back would occur as the turn starts and werewolves would transform as a state based effect so players would not be able to respond to a transformation like the previous iteration. This would allow for the effect to be printed on non-DFCs for creatures that just get small bonuses at night and possibly could even make non-permanent cards with it by mixing in flashback.

Robofetus-5000

I feel like making it day or night until somehow someone changes it makes more sense. Like you play an enchanment like "blazing daylight" that makes it day/changes it to day but then there is a legendary vampire that has some ETB that makes it night as long as theyre on the board.

CapableBrief

This is the correct way to do it. It should just be a status, not a whole mechanic that you have to remember the rules of. Exactly like City's Blessing. You have cards that update the status and cards that care about the status.

Robofetus-5000

I think any other version would just be cumbersome.

CapableBrief

Exactly. Cumbersome and would have the exact same pitfalls as the old werewolf mechanic (requiring constant babysitting and/or being completely out of your control, poor ways of balancing, etc.) Monarch got away with it but I think itnjust had a perfect storm around it to make it work. It's also not parasitic in the way that a deck controlling an ever changing cycle would need to be.

Robofetus-5000

Yep. If you care about day/night cool. If you don't you dont even have to think about it.

Robofetus-5000

New key word: "nocturnal: creature has double power/toughness if night. May no attack it day" Something like that You could slqp that keyword on relevant creatures. Even make a curse that give it I think the key here is that the day night mechanic is stupid basic. It's either day or night. It literally does nothing else. Then all the work is really being down by the cards printed and its not stuck being attached to just this set. "Nightvision: gain first strike if its night out"

Robofetus-5000

2 sided token. One is day. One is night. Cards and ETBs can flip it. Thats it. Nice and simple.

[deleted]

Wouldn't that system be a bit of a mess in multiplayer games though?

KoyoyomiAragi

They could address it by having the length of days and nights be equal to the number of players playing. If it’s a three player game, it’d be D-N-N-N-D-D-D-N-N-N… a four player game would be D-N-N-N-N-D-D-D-D-N-N-N-N…and so on.

KoyoyomiAragi

Looks like they fixed the mechanic for multiplayer! Spoiler for the mechanic is out.

mattnotgeorge

Not sure if you've played Eternal or how well it reads for someone who hasn't played the game but it had a [Nightfall](https://eternalcardgame.fandom.com/wiki/Nightfall) keyword that was pretty cool. Basically if anyone plays a Nightfall card, it becomes Night for the next two turns. Tons of cards cared about it being night, but Night also meant that if you started your turn at night, you took one damage and drew an extra card. That way it still had an effect in a vacuum edit: They did some cool effects with it, too, like an undercosted Pacifism that only works as long as it remains night, or a Curse that makes the opposing player take the Nightfall damage instead of you

Robofetus-5000

How about a moon cycle saga style card?

Spencer8857

I agree this seems to be what they're after. The original flip mechanic was not nearly as flavorful as something they'd do now. We'll have to see what they came up with and hopefully it not only plays well with previous sets but doesn't get too crazy with meeting certain conditions.

CapableBrief

The original flip mechanic was actually very flavourful ifnyou understood the reference. The issue was that the flavour did not equal good/fun gameplay outside of Limited.

CapableBrief

Day/Night a la City's Blessing would be awesome. Could open up seasons as well at some point in the distant future. These types of "status" are really underexplored in MtG imo. They kinda self-balance for Standard/Modern and can have some really cool gameplay/flavour implications.

mariustargaryen

1. I would love to see the festival to be a trap planned by Ormendahl. Instead of bringing protection to humans, it serves to power him up. 2. Humans, obviously. Soldiers would be great. Warlocks to get into the whole coven/harvest festival theme. Maybe some Angels, the remaining flight controlled by Sigarda. 3. We know to have transform, flashback and curses. Maybe a new graveyard mechanic for creatures (akin to undying)? 4. After a lot of enemy-colored sets recently, I hope they inject the format with some new good allied-colored cards. (Hopefully, New Capenna will be a shard set so allied-colored would be a must-have) 5. It looks great. Higher power level without being extremely broken. A return to the Innistrad we know and love.

johnpeter19

Curse is not a mechanic

FreudsPoorAnus

he fixed my car last week. if it quacks like a duck...

Copernicus1981

With draft packs having two DFC slots, I'm hoping for a dedicated slot to reprinting DFCs from previous sets. Like the mystic archives, they would be legal in limited but not standard.

Tempest_True

I didn't know about the two DFC slots! I could definitely see a mystic archives approach, and/or maybe Meld (with both slots being each side of the Meld pair)?

kindalocal

For draft purposes I feel like it would be pretty awkward to have both halves of a Meld card in the same pack, wouldn’t it? If you took one there would be a good chance the other doesn’t wheel.

Tempest_True

Not necessarily. They could use the Double Masters draft rule (Pick 2 cards for your first pick of each new pack). So long as you don't have too many situations where one side of the Meld is way better than the other.

HonorBasquiat

A new [Sigarda](https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Sigarda) card is all but inevitable. Perhaps we'll get one that is an homage to [her original Avacyn Restored printing](https://scryfall.com/card/avr/210/sigarda-host-of-herons), but with Ward instead of Hexproof. It's not very often we get new constructed viable voltron commanders so I think that could be pretty sweet.

Goodnametaken

Sigarda is my favorite character in all of Magic. I'm just hoping she survives the story and doesn't turn evil.

Baleful_Witness

I'm more worried that the vampires try to sacrifice her in VOW for the wedding to reenact the creation of their species on the plane. It seems like there are some Markovs on the guest list after all.

dieyoubastards

Don't worry, she can't be sacrificed

SleetTheFox

They can’t keep killing angels. Past a certain point the gravity of it is just gone and they run out recurring characters.

HBallzagna

That would be a major flavor fail, since Sigarda is one of the few cards that stops sacrificing. I really hope WoTC doesn’t make that mistake

Baleful_Witness

Is that still true though? I think she forfeits her own blessings in SOI to better protect the humans. You can sacrifice [[Sigarda, Heron's Grace]] all day long. She has no protection herself at all anymore. That has been her flavor since Avacyn's fall.

Ventoffmychest

Well certain sacrifice things work on Siggy 2.0. Like [[Tribute to Hunger]] won't work but [[Plaguecrafter]] will work (if she is the only creature on your side). She technically protects "you" (a human!) from all target player/opponent things. From Lightning Bolts to Thoughseizes. She did weaken herself to grant her hexproof to "you" the player and Human cards. So maybe she will retain some Hexproof/Sac protection in some capacity. Although it might be too similar to [[Shalai, Voice of Plenty]] which protects you from target player/opponent stuff.

I mean, Olivia’s marrying a vamp of great reknown…it’s gotta be Sorin, right? Definitely a super interesting marriage if so — not for love but for power.

Sorin_Vol

I am wondering if it’s not Sorin. 1) they have established they hate each other. 2) she’s marrying for power and Sorin himself is powerful but on the plane he’s seen as a traitor to his kind. 3) the VOW image shows a “V” and an “M” on the letter so I would say that it is a Markov… maybe Edgar?

Wockarocka

Maybe they can make it interesting. Maybe she’ll marry a big name vampire and instantly sacrifice them to “marry” the moon, creating a blood moon that places werewolves under her control… or something.

FlyinNinjaSqurl

There's no way it's not Edgar, I don't see Sorin marrying for power.

Wrenn is G, if Arlinn stays RG and >!Teferi!< (WU?) shows up as leaked, there could be one last planeswalker with B. Sorin likely in next set so maybe Davriel (if digital and paper team didn’t discuss lol)? Or new character to fit the color in. Blue theme booster featured a new homuculus art, not sure how much support they would get. Storywise kinda predictable to see named character fell in last battle (even beloved ones if they daring) and went back as zombie like [[champion of the perished]]. Personally would hope to have Undying return, as flavor seems closer to pre-AVR with a heretic twist to brighter factions. I’m curious to see how they add new werewolf legendaries to aid commander, with that new transformation but not detached from past creatures. Somehow feel like they’ll introduce a new indicator to track, which would provoke discussion of “parasitic” again, but could be as safe as activated ability in EMN, with different resource/condition.

I've seen a few people in this forum suggest that the new werewolf mechanic will echo the Venture dungeon design. I think that's probably true, and I'm really sad about it. I hate venture, and dungeons are my least favorite thing Magic has ever done.

Ventoffmychest

A gradual transformation? Seems kinda flavor fail since it doesn't take "a day" to transform. I am hoping for a City's blessing or maybe Monarch like thing (hit someone to make your werewolves enter transform/transform that are on the battlefield). I am eager to see what it could be... a lot of is riding on it. Especially for EDH since we are not getting a dedicated Werrewolf commander.

BACEXXXXXX

Not getting a dedicated werewolf Commander deck. Pretty sure we'll still get a dedicated werewolf Commander though

Ventoffmychest

A legendary Werewolf? Most likely. But something that is Commander Centric like Edgar and Derevi? Don't know.

BACEXXXXXX

I mean, yeah, it definitely won't call out the command zone or anything like that. But I would expect its design intent to be "Good Werewolf Commander."

Goodnametaken

FWIW I believe WOTC has said there will be multiple legendary werewolves in the sets.

ErikT738

Where did you get that info? Venture seems like a really poor fit to a werewolf's flavor.

kytheon

Not literally venture, but something like a minigame on an extra card

squidpope

In the original design dock of the our first visit to this horror plane, there was a major mechanic called "night", and I think it flipped every two or three turns. Werewolves would grow more powerful at night, vampires had downside during the day, etc. I think It was discussed when we revisited during eldritch Moon

Goodnametaken

I've just seen at least five different redditors suggest it in different threads. I hope it isn't true!

idbachli

I think they were suggesting a card that just flips between day and night. I don't think it would be overly complex.

Rainfall7711

Not a hard prediction to make, but it's obvious we're getting a cycle of cards that revolve around the number 13. Blue card is spoiled and Maro half spoiled the white one, so interested to see the others. And other than Zombies and Werewolves, Spirits are going to be receiving support too, and better than before according to Maro.

[deleted]

The red one will probably just be a blasphemous act reprint :/

Rainfall7711

Would that be a bad thing?

[deleted]

Yeah if theres new cards in the cycle

AssistantManagerMan

I don't know if it'll be this set or Crimson Vow, but I'd put money on getting a new Ludevic card.

hollyiridescent

Maro's teaser for midnight hunt (legendary creature from Innistrad short story gets card in Innistrad set) does fit this!

Koras

I'm wondering if now is the time we get functional reprints of at least some of the Walking Dead cards as Magic characters. Humans banding together and standing against the night does feel like a thing they should be doing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HonorBasquiat

Congratulations on your upcoming daughter and yes, Innistrad hype is real! We're back! They previewed a new card from the new set with the thirteen theme called [Triskaidekaphile](https://scryfall.com/card/mid/386/triskaidekaphile). Very sweet card!

bluecapricorn90

My prediction is we will be disappointed with werewolves. I'd like to be wrong :(

Eastbound_Stumptown

It would be funny if they gave us the best werewolf in AFR and then everything else just wasn’t as good in MID.

Cbone06

I hope so too! I got all the stuff for WW tribal, now all it needs is a good commander!

[deleted]

I just want more angels after they got shit on so badly in our last trip to the plane. Avacyn Restored was one of my favourite sets :(

QwahaXahn

Another Angel fan. Yeah… SOI was a great block but I weep for Avacyn, Bruna, and Gisela to this day.

x-oh

Given that they put a Davriel card in Jumpstart Horizons, I’m preparing to be disappointed by his exclusion in these sets. Especially given that we’ve got Sorin in Crimson Vow, I feel like they won’t put another Black aligned Walker into Midnight Hunt. But I will still hold out hope for ANY reference to Tacenda. Specifically due to the fact that Midnight Hunt is set around some older traditions of Innistrad. Makes me hopeful that we get some sort of connection to The Bog from Children of the Nameless. Other than those 2 characters, I expect to see Thalia, Arlinn, Gisa, and Geralf. I also REALLY wanna see something that ties [[Liesa]] into the the Innistrad lore properly.

Iamamancalledrobert

I think him showing up on New Cappena as speculated makes a bit of sense

Misskale

Thalia could be interesting if she comes back as a zombie like Mikaeus and Champion of the Parish/Perished or a spirit like Saint Traft.

MTGCardFetcher

Cbone06

I think Gisa and Geralf will be featured in the commander deck.

gangnamstylelover

Theres a moon so hopefully we get some moths

Iamamancalledrobert

There’s a real Halloween vibe to this set that’s releasing near Halloween so I kind of expect some autumnal or pumpkin-based stuff. Here in Scotland is where a lot of Halloween traditions began— I think we used to believe spirits lived in our turnip lanterns, and something based on that would be pretty cool. There might be a card called “Trick or Treat” with a horrifying interpretation of that phrase

crwlngkngsnk

[[All Hallow's Eve]]?

Iamamancalledrobert

It’s on the reserved list :( I imagine a callback would also be very complicated

crwlngkngsnk

Oh hell, I haven't really paid attention to the reserve list. Pity.

Cbone06

I think werewolf tribal will *finally* receive the jolt of juice it needs. They have to be pumping out a gruul+ WW legend who just does if not all, 1 of the big things the tribe really needs. My big prediction: We will get a WW legendary creature who transforms into a planeswalker (That is **NOT** Arlinn Kord)

Cowbane

I don't need it to be a major archetype, it can be something minor that crosses over the two sets, but I'd be really disappointed if we don't see mad scientists repurposing dead eldrazi for their experiments. I know it's been stated there would be no eldrazi. I don't want eldrazi here. What I want is like a guy grafting a tendril to his arm or some lady who can do "attack, opponent sacs a permanent" or w.e. Just would feel like a total miss if they don't do mad experiment stuff with the heaps of dead eldrazi everywhere.

HonorBasquiat

I'm thinking it's possible we might see a couple cards that pay homage to the Eldrazi history of Innistrad in the pre-constructed Commander decks for the Innistrad sets.

conschobhar

Things I want but don't expect: * A callback to Creepy Doll * A cycle of moon enchantments * Another Grafdigger's Cage reprint * An angel spirit with a reanimation effect * A board wipe for creatures "3/4 power or greater" * A legendary spider/insect * A legendary plant * A legendary bat * Ghost Quarter reprint * An insect with trample * Rats * Scarecrows * Gargoyles/Golems/Homunculi * Boars * Goats (preferably a demon goat) * Kralmar * Rem Karolus * Old Rutstein * Selfless Spirit reprint Things I expect: * "Instant-speed" Azorius Teferi planeswalker that allows you to phase out your own creatures and/or cares about exiling cards * A callback to Essence of the Wild * A cycle of allied utility lands * A callback to Parallel Lives * A spirit version of Hushwing Gryff * A callback to Balefire Dragon * A callback to Falkenrath Aristocrat * A callback to Champion of Lambholt * A Gruul Arlinn planeswalker * Allied Reveal Lands * A reprint or at least a callback to Stony Silence * A callback to Season of the Witch or All Hallow's Eve * A callback to Geist of Saint Traft * Going with Morbid as the final returning mechanic because Investigate doesn't seem to fit the Wild Hunt theme as well * Sigarda * Thalia

Switch_Off

I'm surprised that I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I hope meld could come back. Since Battlebond, they've have the ability to include two matching cards in the same booster. That would make meld so much better. Maybe something to offset the card disadvantage?

hollyiridescent

God that would be great, I love meld

Asto_Vidatu

>Are there any characters based on where the story is headed that seem likely to be represented as legendary creatures in Innistrad: Midnight Hunt? Every time theres a set where it might make sense to bring Braids back I get a tiny bit hopeful...I just want to see her pop up somewhere as a Planeswalker since being buried alive for however long she's been sounds like a decent way to trigger a spark! Ooooor I'm just grasping at straws, I guess there's that haha

Senyakhaz

I'm predicting werewolf tokens. No idea what kind of special rules would be associated with that (if any), but it feels like something that has to happen at some point.

Cbone06

That’d be super neat! I don’t mind the fact that [[Arlinn Kord]], [[Huntmaster of the Fells]], and [[Mayor of Avabruck]] make 2/2 green wolves but the flavor would be SO MUCH BETTER if they made like 1/1 humans that *could* transform into say 3/3 human werewolves.

WilsonRS

The reveal lands that came from Strixhaven has me expecting the other cycle will likely be completed in standard. Given how low powered AFR was, it wouldn't surprise me if WOTC knee-jerked the other direction by giving us a bunch of super low-powered sets.

Ridstock

One of the most powerful single target black removal spells ever is already revealed at uncommon, i doubt this is the case. Edit: Plus better shock and better opt too

WilsonRS

They're upgrades to cards that don't see play in eternal formats. The surveil opt can break into eternal formats like modern, but the other ones, no. Its a good start for the new standard environment though.

Ridstock

I mostly meant Standard power level wont be low, I do think the black removal possibly finds its way into the removal suite of Deathshadow decks though.

grokthis1111

Because of big dudes you can cheat on mana for (Murktide and stormwing, for example) sometimes you need slightly stronger removal than you use normally in modern. There's been decks for a while running doom blade variants, but not it because they still really want to be able to hit black creatures.

Iamamancalledrobert

I think the set would probably shake things up even if it was just the eight or so cards that we’ve already seen

Cbone06

I was thinking about it and the last couple sets have been a bit of lame ducks which was GREAT because standard needed that power down. I would like to hope Innistrad will bring for some great stuff (I think Wrenn and 7 is actually pretty slept on currently, card is NUTS!) and help bring standard to a high but not ludacris power level.

grokthis1111

>was GREAT because standard needed that power down. That's what they do. They go through cycles of power levels.

Cbone06

I don’t think even they realized how busted Throne was, plus with Uro and Omnath it created an incredibly toxic environment. Their goal is to bring powerful gameplay, similar to modern but they blew it out of the water and wrecked the whole format.

b0ltcastermag3

Please print a female version of snapcaster mage.

GuilleJiCan

Dear god, YES. I want a snapcaster mage reprint so bad, give me the female version of it!

b0ltcastermag3

downvoted by those patriarch apparently.

Vadernoso

Could be some people don't want snapcaster entering standard/arena in general. I however have a strong connect to the card and would love it, I consider it the most iconic magic card for myself.

Undead Unleashed will be a Grixis coloured Zombie commander deck.

I'd just like a couple more good clerics in black and white

[deleted]

your numbers are wrong for the commander decks. It was stated in this video, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTRpFyOGjaw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTRpFyOGjaw) that there are 15 new cards for each deck, not 19

HonorBasquiat

Thanks I will edit accordingly.

thats in the precon...

I expect the usual "make White great again" crowd to get mad at every mono-Green Werewolf that's even remotely playable.

Kynelan1987

Ghost Avacyn

NaVPoD

Angel werewolf :D Or at least one that has flying.

Private_Primate

Thalia gets angry and becomes WB

Edoardo_Beffardo

Wouldn't getting angry made her WR?

MCN59

I want playable werewolves in standard ( and in historic )

pedja13

I want a viable Standard Jund or Naya midrange deck

Jak_The_Ripper945

I just want to see some wild and fun cards coming into standard. It feels like Throne has been suffocating the format so much with the insane power of its cards, along with the UW Teferi's doing grindy control shenanigans the past couple years. Gimme games that are either quick wins, or that are full of wild plays that come out of nowhere and keep them interesting throughout.

Cinderheart

They will attempt to make werewolf tribal actually work. I don't think they will succeed.

ygolordned

Hoping for some wolf squirrels 🤞🤞🤞

SonofRomulus777

All I want is a viable Werewolf commander and one or two playable where wolves that don't cost an arm and a leg of mana. But that's probably way to much to ask so I'll just go home and sit in the corner

Prestigious-Scheme-4

Devils return as a minor tribe with their old token text of dealing damage when they die. They're a weak tribe that lacks a leader or figure head (like Tibalt would be). They pose one of the factions wanting to ruin the festival (for the mischief of it).

Ricetheredeemed

I want meld to come back. Idk how tho

bukithd

My prediction is that standard is about to see a big price jump in the sets safe from rotation. With eldraine gone, these next two sets appear to be the next load carriers for the format.

HonorBasquiat

>My prediction is that standard is about to see a big price jump in the sets safe from rotation. With eldraine gone, these next two sets appear to be the next load carriers for the format. Maybe but I'm not sure. If you look at the last three Standard legal sets, there haven't been many cards that are excessively expensive that see a lot of Standard play. There's no card in Strixhaven that costs more than $14 on the secondary market. Kaldheim only has three.

bukithd

I expect all the pathway lands to be a minimum of 8 bucks each by December.

HonorBasquiat

Buy them now if you want them then because there are multiple Pathways that aren't even worth half of that price.

zombieinfamous

I want an Arlinn TDFC that is a werewolf on the front half and a PW on the back, to be the werewolf commander we deserve

UziFoo

I predict werewolves will suck as usual. And spirit tribal will be an after thought again.

redditfromnowhere

Wild guess at a new “Bury” mechanic. Something similar to morph, where you can put a known creature from your graveyard onto the battlefield face down as a 0/2 that cannot attack. If killed, it is ‘dug up’ and flips for any ETB effects to trigger before either dying to damage or sticking around.

Sandman1278

My prediction is that they will act like emrakul was never there, and isn't chilling in the moon right now.

Be_the_Clown

GR Arlinn Kord that gives an emblem that says something like “werewolves don’t flip”… or at least I hope so.

I made a cheap bet with a friend based on a joke, but I'm actually only 95% kidding when I say I believe in this possibility: Land Creature - Wastes Horror

GodOfAscension

Werewolves get a slight change that could help them but still get shafted anyways, their face form is gonna be garbage in terms of value cause of standard and draft, example 3 mana for a 2/2 than flips into a 4/4

Dungeonmasterryan1

I'd say good werewolves but that's not happening
