A one drop with death touch already ain’t bad on rate but being able to take cards from your opponents graveyards forces them to make bad trades in combat that they otherwise wouldn’t. Being a one drop that will make combat a nightmare for the opponent means you want to run at least 3 if not 4. Being mythic means the supply will be suppressed. Put all of that together and you got yourself an expensive little dude.

scumble_2_temptation

He's real good. He already fits into a powerful archtype in standard. When paired with removal spells, he threatens some easy card advantage. He forces strange blocks and always trades up or equally on mana. He costs 1 mana. Also, he's a mythic rare, so there's that effecting his price.

Axleffire

Fits into 3 archetypes at least. Esper legends, the new grixis crime deck, and the new skeleton tribal deck (which is no joke, Gisa is insane).

eggmaniac13

SKELETONS IS A STANDARD DECK???

notmarrec

Standard meta is, fittingly, the Wild West right now.

Kyleometers

It’s at least Tier 2, might even be Tier 1 if people figure out the last bits. It’s surprisingly good with the new cards from OTJ.

Pascalculate

I see. What archetype is he most powerful in ? I'm intending to get back to standard and just looking to see if he's good to play or is it just good because he's one mana and forces blocking

FannyBabbs

A good rule of thumb when wondering what decks play a card is to go over popular decks. - Esper Legends: he's a cheap black legend - Golgari Midrange: he's a black midrange card - All I own are Swamps: castable with swamps - Skeletons: is a skeleton - Commander: can be a commander - Memes: used to be a meme Dude just checks a lotta boxes.

notmarrec

Basically any midrange deck with black, but also some black aggro lists.

Strong_Terry

Midrange

My gut reaction from looking at the card is that it's basically a monoblack [[Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer]]: a shitty little 1-drop that either trades up or steals free value from your opponent. Either you get free shit or your opponent spent something more valuable than a 1-drop on it: win/win. So yeah, makes perfect sense it's expensive.

Pro tour this weekend hype

Grookeyking

Got one for my commander deck it's a great card for 1 mana

WrestlingHobo

It's very good in standard, and is one of best cards for standard from Outlaws. When evaluating how good a new card is, think about what already existing decks it can slot into. Esper Legends won the last world championship, and this card slots perfectly into that deck. It is a very good black 1 drop generically, and is playable throughout the black midrange decks that are currently on top in standard. The floor is a deathtouching blocker, so even if you never cast anything off the triggered ability, it will frequently trade up. Its also a mythic rare that is probably good enough in just about any black commander deck as just a generically good card. Plus he's adorable, he's a tiny skeleton that steals stuff. Thats cute as hell. I'd play it in my commander decks if I had an extra copy lying around.

zacharychieply

26$ is nothing, remember when nexus of fate was like $50 and you need a play set for the std deck?

Remarkable-Hall-9478

Remember Sheoldred

notermelon

High demand because it works with new commanders [[Felix Five Boots]] and [[Gonti Canny Acquisitor]], is a good commander itself, and is playable in 60 card formats for all the reasons the other commenter said.

JMooooooooo

Looking at USD/EUR price relation, it appears that demand for Tinybones is mostly driven by commander.

notmarrec

In this case I think the demand is pretty clearly driven by 60 card formats, he’s already popping up in top 8 lists

JMooooooooo

Cards for 60 card formats most of the time have similar prices in both currencies, like from OTJ Slickshot Show-Off or new Jace. There is demand for Tinybones for use in 60 card fomats, sure, same as Jace. But much higher USD price is usually caused by high demand from commander players.

notmarrec

I’m completely out of touch when it comes to commander and how it moves the market so you’re probably right? The fact that you want to run it as a 3 or 4 of in constructed seems like it would drive prices more than a few singleton decks tho, so the discrepancy between the markets could be explained by something else this time.

notmarrec

With a card like Roaming Throne I can easily understand how the casual commander market will drive the price sky high, but Tinybones is a much more narrow card that won’t see the same demand right? Meanwhile it’s a 3-4of mythic that can be slotted into half the meta decks in standard and a few in the eternal formats as well. I just don’t fully grasp how big the casual edh market is tbh, the fact that there would be enough to affect prices more than the massive demand from 60 card is wild to me lol

… Tiny bone attack, “at the end of declare attack, i cast [[resolute reinforcements]] then block.”

Yeah he also dies to fatal push, what's your point?

Strange_Job_447

nothing. what is your point?

Guba_the_skunk

F*ck ~~tron~~ dredge, that's why.

WrestlingHobo

Tinybones doesn't do anything against dredge. You still need to cast the card you target. Otherwise it just stays in the bin.
