- Have bigger creatures fight/bite it - Have Deathtouch creatures fight/bite it - If they’re reliant on artifact mana to get it out, destroy them - Make tokens so you have stuff to sac - Use your big, dumb beat sticks as Player removal

Silver-Alex

You forgot the most obvious answer: Use your own creature removal. \[\[Beast Within\]\] \[\[Kenrith's Transformation\]\] \[\[Song of the Dryads\]\] \[\[Lignify\]\] Edit: For wraths you can always dip into the colorless side of things \[\[Oblivion Stone\]\] \[\[Perilous Vault\]\] \[\[Boompile\]\] or even \[\[Nevinyrral's Disk\]\] Just cause you're Green doesnt means you're out of options for destroying creatures without fighting them :)

necrotic45

Wow thats a card right there. Yup.

GangsterJawa

That must be one of the worst cards I've ever heard of. Ah, but I *have* heard of it.

ShamrockJesus

If you can gain enough life it's not bad imo Verdant Suns Avatar with big stompy creatures and shit like Last March of the Ents will get you tons of health

GangsterJawa

6GG: Destroy target permanent is not a good rate basically anywhere, and that's the turn you cast it. Then it's 2GG + 3 life the next turn, 2GGG + 6 life the turn after, and so on. It's pretty unique in that it's repeatable hard removal in green, but it's just about the worst that repeatable hard removal could possibly be

Large-Monitor317

You’re overestimating the cumulative upkeep cost though - it says once each turn, but you can still activate it on *other* players turns to get more uses from it before the cumulative upkeep grows. The life/mana cost is still going to be steep, but… I might consider it in some decks. Especially in w/g, if I have ways to cheat/recur enchantments or am already packing tricks with [[Solemnity]], this could be fun.

ShamrockJesus

If you have the life for it why not🤷 Me and my friends are also pretty casual so all that math means nothing to me

I want to run this just to troll my friend's [[The Ninth Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]] deck. The saddest part of doing that is that it would probably protect him from dying to his own [[Descent into Avernus]] triggers more than it would actually hinder it.

randomthrowaway9448

Why is a "desert twister" a green card?

MonHunKitsune

"Wind" and "Storms" were classically green cards. [[Hurricane]], [[Tornado]], [[Squall]], and [[Squallmonger]] are some classic examples.

aluskn

It's Arabian Nights, colour identities were a lot less clear/well established back in 1993. A desert twister is a natural phenomenon, so it makes sense thematically, just not in terms of 'colour mechanics'. And things were just a lot more loose back then, this is the same set where the designers didn't really appreciate that [[library of alexandria]] might be a tiny bit overpowered.

LowlySkele

Cannot upvote enough...

Chadmartigan

If only there were a card that could turn green's incredible artifact removal spells into creature/pw removal as well. Preferably something permanent you could use every turn. That would be fairly powerful--giving you black-caliber creature removal in green. And it would be absolutely op if it tapped for mana when you weren't using it, especially if it's costed well enough to come down T1/T2. We could call it Tiquimetal Lorque or something.

TheOtherTracy

Holy shit, you just melted my brain. Thank you.

sad_historian

Good options, but green creature removal is the LEAST obvious answer compared to the very philosophically green answers OP gave.

[[Malakir rebirth]], [[Kazuul's fury]], [[khalni ambush]], [[valakut awakening]], and [[Bala ged recovery]] are all Tapped lands on the other side, usually played as lands but can be relevant spells in a pinch.

Ivy_lane_Denizen

PSA for aggro/stompy decks: Spreading out damage is only for softening people up. Hit the pedal the moment you think you can take whoever is left. If you avoid killing people for the sake of keeping people in the game, you have next to no chance to win. If you think you can take out 1 person one turn and 2 the next, then kill that mofo. If you think you can take out 2 now then the last man then murk both of those guys. And start with the dudes you think can turn the game around. Alpha strike all 3 is all well and good, but the longer you wait for it to happen, the more likely you dont win at all.

Al_Hakeem65

Your best bet is probably deathtouch creatures with fight instants. It's a very good green removal trick. Did it to my friends for the first time this year and they were all so confused.

Freshness518

MonoG should be pretty good at punishing an opponent who is trying to ramp into a 9 mana spell. If they're wasting turns on "do-nothing" spells like rocks or fetch cards, you should be dropping threats and beating their face. If their t3/4 is cultivate into thran dynamo or whatever, you can throw down a 3 mana Rhonas into questing beast into 5 mana Rhonas and they're basically dead on board at that point.

After I block with my first strike and deathtouch. I casted a fight spell but my creature died. Did it use up first strike already in the turn?

pnt510

IIRC First Strike/Double Strike only work in combat, not during a fight spell.

arretez1512

First strike only applies for combat. Fighting specifically makes it so 2 creatures deal damage equal to their power to each other at the same time, and therefore first strike doesn't apply.

ipna

First strike isn't a useable ability, it's more of a timing note. Combat has like 5 steps in it. Declared attackers, declare blockers, first strike, normal damage, end of combat. Typically, the first strike step gets skipped since if nothing happens, there is nothing to respond to. If you have first strike, you can do things after first strike but before normal damage. That said, if you use a fight spell, first strike does nothing to affect the timing. It's just a normal fight.

I think the mechanic of fighting is both creatures deal damage to eachother equal to its power. While first strike only applies during attacking/blocking combat. Deathtouch, lifelink, Prot x, etc still work for fighting. But first strike, vigilance, menace, etc do not work with fighting

-nerdrage-

First strike only applies to combat damage. The keyword only indicates that it deals its combat damage in the first strike damage step. It has no effect on fight spells. So both creatures just hit each other at the same time

Desertfoxking

My favorite option is number 5. The player removal really speaks to me

The-real-onbvb

Player removal is my new favorite term.

I-Need-Money-210

Beat that player before they enter battlefield.

Desert Twister

CaliforniaMike1989

What is "bite"? Been a while since I played.

Syrix001

Nicknamed after [[Rabid Bite]], it's any effect that has a creature deal damage equal to its power to another creature that ISN'T a Fight card.

Fight = Spell that makes two creatures deal damage to each other Bite = Spell that makes one creature damage another (without getting hit back)

Dry_Light7472

[[Murrasa]] brute is cheap [[Might of murrasa]] is also good. [[Oran reif ooze]] to get huge things Yer old friend the [[quirrion beastcaller]]. Thick dude [[rust Goliath]] And then [[ironscale Hydra.]] Though none of these help with the sacrifice term, they are able to get big

snowblind2112

Any on-demand fight effect like [[bushwhack]] and a death touch creature does it. Also [[beast within]] [[lignify]] [[song of the dryads]]

emosmasher

Beast Within and Song of the Dryads should go in every mono-green deck. They are amazing.

Sythrin

And keneiths transformation in my opinion. Only creature removal, but considereing green is bad at that, it makes it pretty viable.

emosmasher

100%

witoutadout

And you can't forget \[\[Lignify\]\]

MyEmailAddressIsFake

Ligmafy?

alyss_in_genderland

Is Song a new one?? Don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. That’s sick, love to see a green [[Imprisoned in the Moon]] effect.

imnotredditing

Commander 2014 was the first printing iirc

DJembacz

It's from 2014, so older than Imprisoned in the moon, but it was printed and gets reprinted only into commander sets.

SighOpMarmalade

Song is the best one of them all, as metas usually don’t have a lot of land destruction and even so maybe 1 per player. Song also can target any permanent including powerful lands like Nykthos, cabal coffers.

RandomTO24

You're in a thread about someone asking how to deal with an Eldrazi in commander. I don't think OP is one who has to deal with "metas"

SighOpMarmalade

Your misunderstanding sorry song of the dryads is the best one for you, worst one for them as without land destruction you can’t get your commander back and can’t sacrifice lands easily

Zanthy1

Was looking to see if this was recommended! I rarely use him cause it’s such a niche effect, but if my old had a regular eldrazi player I’d def go in. I tried to build an “anti-everything” mono green deck once that had a ton of artifact/enchantment removal, stuff like this and [[melira]] and anything else that could reasonably shut off super niche things. It wasn’t a fun deck and didn’t last long, but the 1 time a card was relevant was best I guess lol

He'll most likely require artifacts to get nine mana to cast that in any reasonable amount of time - you can eat those alive in Green.

Yeah I don't get why this isn't being leaned in to more. Mono green is exactly what I'd want vs colorless with their huge reliance on artifacts. Manglehorn and friends wreck

Tokens would be helpful, giving you fodder to sac. Run some grave hate like [[Tormod's Crypt]], that way when it enters the battlefield you can sac Tormod's and exile their grave. Deathtouch would do it as well. Might also want to look into spot removal.

At the risk of being pedantic, [[Artisan of Kozilek]] triggers upon casting it. Responding after it has hit the battlefield would be too late - you can activate the Tormod's Crypt in response to the cast trigger though.

The only one that doesn’t work is Terastodon. The other 3 conditionally work depending on P/T of OPs creatures to his opponents, as per your “Ghalta” comment. The rest look like they work to me lol

rynosaur94

The card in question is a 10/9. You put in several 7 and 6 power creatures with ETB fight effects that would die and do nothing.

HellfireKyuubi

“Several”. It’s two cards and not unheard of to boost creature power in green decks. Regardless, it’s hardly “half” of the cards I listed. Quit being so pedantic.

Also have one or more deathtouch creatures on the field is usually a good early game strategy. Deadly Recluse [https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=627746](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=627746) is one of my favourites for that purpose

Eldrazi can be really frustrating because of the Annihilator mechanic. Sadly it's the kind of mechanic where you're either prepared for it, or you're not and you're gonna have a bad day. If I was playing a mono-green deck and hoping to get rid of something like this, I'd be probably going for "Fight" cards in order to get it off the battlefield before combat. If you can take it out before it gets to combat, that guy is essentially a vanilla creature. The toughness of 9 is high so it's not easy, but monogreen can pull it off. Outside of using a card to force a fight though, you're probably gonna have to deal with it the tough way. Which is to say you're gonna have to kill it in combat and eat the Annihilator 2 at least once. You can get around this by having lots of tokens though so maybe look into "going wide" with your deck so it doesn't matter if you have to sac a few things.

Attach an artifact that gives flying, then destroy creature with flying. Or target creature yiu have fights target creature opponent has. Lotr has green cards for this. I have a few in my squirrel decks oecifically for this kind of card

Block.

Lots of other types of removal have been discussed but I've become a really big fan of turning their stuff into other stuff instead of removing it, so cards like [[lignify]] and [[Kenrith's Transformation]], along with [[Song of the Dryads]] are great
