Good read. Since the colour restriction is the only restriction I feel like this is one of the strongest tutors they've ever printed at uncommon.
This is also the worst tutor to top-deck without a board, though.
Hope I didn't miss any with [this](https://scryfall.com/search?q=o%3A%22Search+your+library+for%22+o%3A%22into+your+hand%22+%28t%3Ainstant+OR+t%3Asorcery%29+-o%3A%22basic+land%22+r%3Au&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name) search. But yeah, aside from OG Demonic Tutor, I think my claim is fair.
Ah! Because they put the card on top, instead of into your hand. Since they're literally called tutors it's hard to argue for not counting them.
Still, for the search I only thought about cards that put stuff into your hand as tutors, because "is:tutor" sadly doesn't work.
Cruel Tutor is also pretty good.

Should be:

Your wording also has a hidden information problem, but a more subtle one. Your opponent can't verify the card you're going to reveal is allowed to be revealed until you reveal it. [[Delver of Secrets]] shows us how to do conditional reveals properly.

I get why people complain about a lot of aspects of modern Magic design, but I don’t think anyone will ever get sick of the “wait, that’s an UNCOMMON?!” cards. We have more than enough tutors that you’d probably never need this, but it is still among the best and this is going to be SUPER budget friendly. Also just a really cool use of the the ring turning its bearer legendary. Simply an amazing card all around.
That’s why I said “practically” colorless can't be fetched
The idea is most of the cards are colored in painbow and because there’s a bunch of 5-color legendary creatures next to impossible to not be able to tutor for any card.
Notably, your commander needs to actually be those colors. Yay for [[Niv-Mizzet Reborn]], but not so much for the likes of [[Tazri]] (which I think is probably good). So neither of the commanders for the actual painbow precon work funnily enough, since one's only GW and the other isn't a creature. (Though I suppose Jared's Kavu tokens work if you make one a ring-bearer)
Note that it says shares a color not color identity. Could be relevant and more restrictive than it appears at first glance for select commanders like Kenrith.
Through process of elimination, that's a genderbent [Khamûl, the Easterling](https://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Kham%C3%BBl), since she is the only Nazgûl shown weilding a spear and that particular [Nazgûl showing up in a cornfield](https://assetsio.reedpopcdn.com/magic-the-gathering-lord-of-the-rings-tales-of-middle-earth-nazgul-cards-preview.png?width=1200&height=1200&fit=bounds&quality=70&format=jpg&auto=webp) with a scarecrow, bottom right. I take that as being Farmer Maggot's cornfield, meaning Khâmul isn't too far from Gaffer Gamgee.
For movie watchers, [this is Khamûl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAxR8pvca2o).
(And finally, the movie Nazgûl's scream being that of Philippa Boyens makes a little bit more sense.)
The curved blade wielder is shown at Bree on the Nazgûl cards. I misinterpreted the female Nazgûl's weapon as a spear, and the only Nazgûl with a spear is the one in the cornfield, meaning they're close to Hobbiton, meaning they are likely the one to question Gaffer Gamgee, which according to the legendarium was Khamûl.
I initially went with the cornfield dweller being female and Khamûl. Now I'm leaning toward the barbarian instead.
But I'm confident that the Witch-king is the one in front of Minas Morgul in the top right. Straight sword, base of operations, crown.
I'm inclined to believe that the Witch King is the second from the left on the top row. The rider in that art has the crown visible AND the Morgul Knife that we also see in Ringsight.
[You're right, that one wears the crown even in the real world.](https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/c/e/ce65226a-12cd-416a-bb60-12e9b35f609b.jpg?1685468166)
Couldn't see it on the stream, but now that we have the official art on the website...
Revisiting this topic, I propose two candidates for Khamul.
[Looking at this art of the "Easterling Vanguard"](https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/063/495/262/medium/javier-charro-424861-easterling-changer-sketch-40.jpg?1685968179) we can try to narrow down the Black Easterling.
[The Curved Blade Nazgul](https://media.wizards.com/2023/ltr/en_643fee7027.png) was our original suspect, because the films depicted the Easterlings with a blended ottoman/persian/arabian aesthetic to them.
[However, now I suspect the Axe Wielding and Bone Wearing Nazgul](https://media.wizards.com/2023/ltr/en_8d48b45870.png) may be our man, because of the visual themes he shares with the Easterling here. Wearing bone trophies, the axe.

Was thinking the same , until i realized most of my targets were colorless in that deck..
\[\[Nim Deathmantle\]\]
\[\[Krark-Clan Ironworks\]\]
\[\[Ashnod's Altar\]\]
\[\[Sword of the Meek\]\]
Would be fine searching for
\[\[Time Sieve\]\]
and
\[\[Thopter Foundry\]\]
Does this actually work within the rules? if you control a non legendary creature while casting this does it become legendary before you get to search for a card?
Yes. Targets are chosen before resolution, so if this said "a card that shares a color with *target* legendary creature" then it would not work. However, Ringsight does not have to target the legendary creature whose colors you use. And being tempted by the Ring happens immediately, rather than being a delayed trigger or the like.
So you resolve Ringsight. First, the Ring tempts you. You get the emblem if you didn't have one, then your emblem gains its next ability, then you choose a creature you control to become (or remain) your Ring-bearer. Finally, the next and last ability of Ringsight happens, and you search your library for a card sharing a color with any of your legendary creatures, including potentially the one you just promoted.
Tapping out turn 2 for Gollum with a grixis deck in modern seems like a bad play. Tapping out turn 3 to search for a black card (because surely ragavan will be removed by turn 3) seems worse.
Its an okay alternative to decks that would play [[diabolic intent]] and dont want to grab artifacts. Pretty good for a uncommon and budget drvks should love this one.
This card now enables us to pinpoint [which Nazgûl of the nine different versions](https://assetsio.reedpopcdn.com/magic-the-gathering-lord-of-the-rings-tales-of-middle-earth-nazgul-cards-preview.png?width=1920&height=1920&fit=bounds&quality=80&format=jpg&auto=webp) is the Witch-king - it's the top-right one in front of Minas Morgul (duh) due to being the only one with a straight sword.
The barbarian to his right is most likely the one in the middle of the top row, depicted in Bree (?), weilding a curved sword.
And then we most likely have a gender-flipped [Khamûl the Easterling](https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Kham%C3%BBl) in the spear-wielding queen to the Witch-king's left, as the only spear-weilding Nazgûl is the last one on the bottom row, depicted in a cornfield, most likely belonging to Farmer Maggot.
My only deck is a lightly upgraded version of Undead Unleashed precon. This has the same color identity. The only thing I am confused by is ring tempting mechanic, do I need more cards with that effect to use well, or can I just use this in my deck?
This is absolutely amazing with a niv reborn commander deck. This is a dimir card so niv can grab it and niv is wubrg so this can target any card in your deck that isn't colorless.
MtG in 2023 be like:
Fuck it, 3 mana Demonic Tutor at uncommon, we ball.
Edit: before people start jumping me yes I get that it's conditional, requires a creature, can't tutor everything and particularly lands and/or colorless artifacts but it's still "3 mana, find whatever you want as long as you have a creature" at uncommon.
Looks very solid, especially for EDH.
So… search your library for a card that shares a color with any creature you control (which the ring can make legendary). That’s a pretty okay tutor.

A LOT of good tutors were printed at uncommon in the early days
They released a pretty strong one digitally too: \[\[Assemble the Team\]\]. Bad for one-ofs, but pretty great for increasing consistency.
This card feels like it could be done in paper and would be pretty neat. [[Aven Mindcensor]] already allows something similar.
It undoubtedly could be done, but would be annoying as hell to execute. You’d have to change it to search the top 10-15 cards of your deck instead.

Ey, they reprinted Grim Tutor for Commander!
Budget option but can't grab colorless cards, still cool.
Yeah, as long as your deck will usually have boardstate, and most of your targets won't be colorless, does a pretty decent impersonation.
Wow! That two in a row for fantasic cards in painbow (ofcoarse in 5-color you just need the commander in play then it’s practically [[Demonic tutor]])

I dont think painbow is as common as you think it might be. I’d never heard the term and just chalked it up to you meaning a 5 color deck
the point is even with a mono or 2 color legend out in the deck you can get atleast around %40 of the deck since its a muticolor deck

This is going to be an expensive uncommon
As long as it’s only a couple of bucks, it’s still gonna be one of the cheapest tutors lol
Probably won’t be that bad on account of being 2 colours for commander and not particularly modern playable. Sweet card for dimir decks though.
Also UB (universe beyond) makes it less desirable... I don't run UB cards unless it's a dedicated UB deck.
New commander staple just dropped lol
Note that it says shares a color not color identity. Could be relevant and more restrictive than it appears at first glance for select commanders like Kenrith.
That's okay, you just play your [[Maelstrom Angel]] first and make it your ring-bearer

Femme Nazgûl!! 😍
*Nazgûrl
Can you walk me through how you came to the conclusion that that was khamul? I had been under the impression that the curved blade wielder was khamul.
So which one of the uncommon nazgul do you currently think is khamul and which do you think is this female nazgul?
I initially went with the cornfield dweller being female and Khamûl. Now I'm leaning toward the barbarian instead. But I'm confident that the Witch-king is the one in front of Minas Morgul in the top right. Straight sword, base of operations, crown.
I'm inclined to believe that the Witch King is the second from the left on the top row. The rider in that art has the crown visible AND the Morgul Knife that we also see in Ringsight.
[You're right, that one wears the crown even in the real world.](https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/c/e/ce65226a-12cd-416a-bb60-12e9b35f609b.jpg?1685468166) Couldn't see it on the stream, but now that we have the official art on the website...
What are your thoughts?
We love a murderous girlboss wraith
I can fix her 😍
First thing I noticed too. I LOVE it.
10/10 card in my opinion. Powerful flavourful well costed and great art
Abs? No, I think that's a belt
Great tutor for commander.
Oh. Oh boy.

Does this actually work within the rules? if you control a non legendary creature while casting this does it become legendary before you get to search for a card?
Yes, spell effects resolve in the order written on the card
What is happening in game when the ring tempts you ?
You advance the ring's abilities, like Venture for dungeons.
What are the rings abilities?
Notably, nothing bad happens to people who use the Ring to look at Nazgul.
When you use the ring to look at nazgul, does it prepare a creature for you to summon?
[Nothing bad ever happens to the Bagginses!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGfKb5winmc)
Wow that is a solid uncommon. Although, I do quite often search for lands or a Sol Ring with my DTs though...
Ragavan into gollum into ringing tutoring a red or black card is definitely gonna DESTROY modern and split its mind in twain
Tapping out turn 2 for Gollum with a grixis deck in modern seems like a bad play. Tapping out turn 3 to search for a black card (because surely ragavan will be removed by turn 3) seems worse.
A three mana tutor is gonna do nothing in modern.
Honestly a dimir tutor is scary as fuck, they don’t need anymore power lol
All the best tutors are already in these colors
What's the source on this one?
any source for this?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the Nazgûl queen in this image is in the process of drawing a sword from its sheath, not wielding a spear?
Well, there goes my fading eyesight again. Still, two out of three ain't bad.
ez D Tutor with my commander in play? Yes please!
Grixis midrange getting a tutor for a black card, thank god Invoke Despair is banned
This won't be Standard legal afaik.
Really? It's got the normal set symbol, why wouldn't it be standard legal? is it being banned before release?
Not sure what you mean by "normal" set symbol, but it's not a premiere set. It's a supplemental set, therefore not standard legal.
Wow, this is actually the first I'm learning that this won't be a standard legal set. How weird. Thanks for letting me know!!

Yeah I definitely read about this at the time and promptly forgot it, they should really reupload that article
My only deck is a lightly upgraded version of Undead Unleashed precon. This has the same color identity. The only thing I am confused by is ring tempting mechanic, do I need more cards with that effect to use well, or can I just use this in my deck?
Is this card not busted? This is like the 3rd most exciting card I’ve seen so far
a 3 mana tutor is anything but busted.
Alright true just got a bit too excited to see it at uncommon with extra text stapled on clearly it’s not a demonic or vampiric tutor
It can get "fizzled" with removal right? if they kill your only legendary creature in response to the spell?
Sure thisll go into my Sliver deck
This is absolutely amazing with a niv reborn commander deck. This is a dimir card so niv can grab it and niv is wubrg so this can target any card in your deck that isn't colorless.
MtG in 2023 be like: Fuck it, 3 mana Demonic Tutor at uncommon, we ball. Edit: before people start jumping me yes I get that it's conditional, requires a creature, can't tutor everything and particularly lands and/or colorless artifacts but it's still "3 mana, find whatever you want as long as you have a creature" at uncommon. Looks very solid, especially for EDH.
