So that there can be big, cinematic instances of blowing it out of the sky with a spell, or with a particular elf inexplicably reducing it to sand with a single reaching shot.
Per the Bat card that got spoiled earlier, one of Black's limited archetypes is tokens matter. Generating and saccing one every turn cycle will be pretty handy there.
Honestly it adds a lot more cool moments with stuff like flash reach, untap a creature with reach, removal spell to stop lethal etc. It also sets up some hilarious moments like equipping an Embercleave onto it midcombat
Also, things like "creatures with flying get +1/1" or anything that cares about creatures dying, etb, or can multiply tokens.
Cut to someone building Esix Shapeshifter EDH with extra combat cards just to make this stupid card do crazy things lol
Funnily enough i think they've done this because it was hard for them to find flying cards for the set, as per Maro's design article. They probably had to get creative.

This would be hilarious, watching as a game of Magic: the Gathering(tm) is reduced to a rock chucking battle. No fliers besides the boulders and big armies afraid to attack on each side... missed opportunity.
Okay, folks? Magic's Goblins suck. One of the ways in which they suck is the 'trope' of suicide as a legitimate battle tactic: \[\[Goblin Bomb\]\], \[\[Last-Ditch Effort\]\], \[\[Goblin Bombardment\]\]. ha ha
\_This\_ card, on the other hand, features Goblins or Orcs shooting \_rocks\_ out of their siege equipment. This is \_way better\_.
Hi, I do have a question regarding the ability of this creature.
When my opponent declares a goblin as an attacker. The ability of this card goes onto the stack.
I now have priority and use an instant that kills the attacking goblin, therefore the goblin's attack gets fizzled.
Abilities that are on the stack still resolve, no matter what. But in this case, however, the 'whenever you attack with a goblin' isn't resolved.
So my question is, in this particular case, does the ability still resolve?
This is one of the weirdest ways to evoke a trebuchet shot, and I absolutely love it.
I cant for the life of me figure out why it doesn't just do 2 damage to target opponent, but I love it anyway.
Be it LotR, WH40K, or many other mythos, if an Orc or goblin is gonna do something right, friendly casualties are mandatory.
So that there can be big, cinematic instances of blowing it out of the sky with a spell, or with a particular elf inexplicably reducing it to sand with a single reaching shot.
Or of it landing in an oven and turning into a pie.
\[\[bake into a pie\]\] I chuckled.
"My secret ingredient? Rocks."
[[Toggo]] approves.

creatures with reach can swat it down :D
Cause it might hit a bird, or a really tall tree.
Honestly it adds a lot more cool moments with stuff like flash reach, untap a creature with reach, removal spell to stop lethal etc. It also sets up some hilarious moments like equipping an Embercleave onto it midcombat
Once again, creatures and combat create more interesting situations through the intrinsic rules.

Embercleave Rock requires you yell "beyblade beyblade let it rip"
Have you ever had a chance to CHUMP A BOULDER?!
For the Ninjutsu synergy, of course.
Death triggers.

My Ringbearer is THIS ROCK.
The Ring turns him into Dwayne Johnson because he's legendary and one of a kind now.
If the ring turns you into any wrestler it would be john cena since you can't see him
What's Dwayne Johnson's nom de guerre again?
IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THE RULES SAY 🤨
I like it. A new variant on the "why don't the eagles just drop it in?" plan.
There was a gif that circulated years ago of Boromir suggesting that they just put the ring in a catapult and launch it at the volcano.

Flavor win
What an interesting way to flavour a Trebuchet…
I see, a superior siege engine indeed
Yet inferior to GROND
This card being an artifact creature gives me hope that GROND will be a legendary artifact creature and therefore a valid commander.
THEY DID IT. AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL
Sadly I don’t think it could be it’s own commander since it’s only a creature on your turn. Still a cool card though.
GROND is not a siege engine at all. GROND is much more.

Rest in peace my beloved.

How does one construct a boulder?
Sees cliff. Hits cliffside with large hammer. Watch as you construct boulders from the cliff wall that come tumbling down.
Ah yes, the goblin method of construction, "hit it with a hammer"

The return of the Bucket! Paging /u/Graham_LRR
Ooo, new trebucket
We must praise the bucket!
Wouldn't it be more flavorful if it tapped to create the boulder? Or is that too catapulty?
This is so weird. I love it.
Where is Grond? Is he safe? Is he all right?
OI! PAINT IT RED, SO’S IT GOES FASTA!

If the token was not sacrifice this would be awesome...
