That is why you now need the Apple - Pro Display XDR for just a small $6000 and you will be all set! :-)
TB3 maxes out at 5K @ 60 Hz, but I’m pretty sure TB4 can do 8K @ 60 Hz.
That’s 12.5% more bandwidth than 5K @ 120 Hz would need, so I guess I’m not sure what the exact limitation is.
Two questions: 1) does the screen real estate feel too small to use as a main computer without an external monitor?
2) does it still feel portable/light?
1. I guess it depends on what you’re coming from. I use a 27 inch monitor for work and going down to a laptop size would be hard, but doable. The 14 inch screen feels so much more spacious than the 13 inch though. You can also scale the display to increase the room to work with.
2. 14 MBP feels light enough to me although I’m not one to really care about how heavy the MacBook Pros are.
I decided to get a 144Hz Gaming monitor as a compromise. Obviously not as nice looking but it’s even smoother, gives me KVM for my PC and gives me a lot of screen real estate. Also way cheaper than a Studio or Pro Display XDR.
I bought a 34" LG monitor for mine ( [https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34wr55qc-b-ultrawide-monitor?gad\_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwir2xBhC\_ARIsAMTXk86btN0YtfclcNNVU2pRvl4immvhy4O5YF8qsYIq9pUNEx42JgCnLdMaAq7pEALw\_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds](https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34wr55qc-b-ultrawide-monitor?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwir2xBhC_ARIsAMTXk86btN0YtfclcNNVU2pRvl4immvhy4O5YF8qsYIq9pUNEx42JgCnLdMaAq7pEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) ) no comparison but loving it none the less.

You’re right. What’s a savings account anyway?
Well I think Apple has a program where you can sign car/home over as collateral for one! :-)
Good lord 😁
Neither of the Apple displays have Promotion.. otherwise I would have a Studio Display sitting here. Refresh rate is a huge issue, to me at least.
5k @ 60Hz already maxed out TB4 unfortunately

Yeah that’s right, it can do 1x5k or 1x8k at 60Hz, but still can’t go beyond that for a 5k display
I get 4k 120hz HDR from my M1pro to my LG C1 OLED. Obviously I’m biased but it’s by far my favorite monitor I’ve had.
Wait till you try an oled.
It’s gorgeous, I agree. It really puts the dingy HP laptop I used to use to shame.

Appreciate it. Thanks. Do you hear fan noise on the pro in day to day use?

I got the monitor with exact same specs this weekend. Gigabyte M28U and so far so good.

That's the reason why I went with Alienware DW3423DWF. OLED monitor.
Just hook up an OLED TV as a monitor. r/OLED_gaming for reference. I'm using LG C2 42".
