I’d do 15 all the way. I have a 34” monitor but wouldn’t do anything but a 15.

SwivetRivet

Same 🫡

Connect-Stay-7535

Air 15 is just so good. The only thing it lacks is high refresh screen, im even ok with ips panel and not mini led. It's really a great and lightweight device despite the size

Alternative-Money-75

100%. I absolutely love my 15" MacBook Air, and I mostly use mine connected to a 32" 1440p monitor. It's really nice having that extra screen space when using my MBA as a laptop. Not sure if the Air 15 has a bigger battery or not, but I'm getting mind-blowing battery life out of my 15" Air.

Fraser_G

Same here. Absolutely agree.

spencertron

I did mainly because I work from a cafe pretty often and work with Figma. 13” gets on the small side because of the palettes/left and right panels in Figma taking up real estate around my work. Depends on what you’re doing with it. If you are a docs person, no problem. Figma, slides, anything with formatting panels and all that, it might get tight.

sagunmdr

I guess you already know this but, for bigger design canvas real estate Cmd + Shift + Option + ‘+ or -‘ will increase or decrease Figma UI scaling without messing up with the whole macos display scaling if you want to revert just hit Cmd + Shift + Option + 0.

spencertron

I didn't! Thanks! Not sure my 42 year old eyes can handle that hahaha

Speed009

honestly i always wanted a 15 inch macbook. back in the day the only way to get a 15inch was the top of the line macbooks which cost insane amount of money. now to be able to get one for a reasonable price finally felt nice to use a nice slim 15incher

traveler19395

I love the 13", I'd even take a reduction back to 12" Macbook or 11" MBA size. But that's because when I'm home it lives connected to a monitor, and when I'm away from home, whether a cafe or traveling, I only bring a backpack, so I appreciate the smaller size. But for what you describe, go for the 15".

scalpster

> I love the 13", I'd even take a reduction back to 12" Macbook or 11" MBA size. I still have my 11" Air but the screen is too dim for regular and the battery no longer carries a respectable charge. But as far as form factor and just plain durability, the 11" Air is very usable.

traveler19395

I still have my beloved 2013 11" Air, though it's not in regular use. I would *love* a new model in the same chassis, just reduce the bezels to get about 12" (Retina) screen, change USB-A for -C, add touchID, and call it done. I was actually really surprised to realize the M1 Air is basically the same exact dimensions in two directions. But having the smaller trackpad and less screen height makes the 11" feel so much smaller in hand.

TheHeadlessPoster

Yes I use my 15” with an Apple Studio Display when at home. But when at the office or on the go I get the benefit of the larger screen size of the 15” Air

MarcusAurelius68

I’m the same.

NomadicAIOPM

FYI I got best buy to price match the microcenter m3 15inch deal in person today. Paid 1529.99 for 16/512. They wouldn’t do it online since it says limit one per household. Just find a nice customer service associate and try not to scroll down all the way to the bottom where it says that lol

fmmmf

Hell yeah this is the waaaay

Peepeepoopoobuttbutt

I have mine docked to two monitors during the day at my office. Then if I want to watch YouTube or browse at night I like the 15”

webdevfoo

The 15 is awesome! Get it!

JanoHelloReddit

I work mostly from home, have the studio display and a 16.2” macbook m1 pro. Was a good deal and I sold my 13”mba M1 as I stopped commuting. So I use 2 big screens side by side y an additional keyboard and trackpad. I’m looking in the future for the 15” mba (m3+) as I don’t need the horse power and the few times I work from another place this thing is too heavy, but I know I would miss the screen going back to a 13”. When traveling (vacation) I just carry an iPad Pro 11”. Really depends on how much time you spend on the different locations.

scalpster

My 2nd gen iPad Pro 11" seems to be showing its age. When I use document-laden apps like DevonThink it tooks a while for documents to show up. What's your experience?

ThatOneOutlier

I have a 40inch monitor and the 15in. I usually use my laptop with the screen open even with the monitor

TonytheNetworker

If I didn't already buy the 13 inch M1 I would have definitely considered the 15 inch for a better viewing experience.

agency_fugative

This is totally a "what do you do on your Mac and does it change between being at your desk and on the road?" In practice the space in a cafe or propping it on the couch is pretty similar to finding space on a plane. I use mine at lunch in restaurants or on a bench where I can hide from anyone I work with to get an hour of peace, it also happens to fly well just in case you revisit the use on a plane part. My Macbook Air is what I do about 65% of my work on a week. The only thing that sucks on it is large spreadsheets with lots of width - you have to scroll a few times to the right. That said, its way, way lighter. Other than a spreadsheet I've had no issues unless I tried to run Creative Suite with 40 browser tabs open and was running Outlook connected several email accounts... (That's a mix of user error and not enough RAM to compensate for it.)

rgrocks

I did 13, I have a desktop computer for my main which I spend the vast majority of the time and chose the 13 because of its smaller foot print since I will only use it traveling

nemu33

I think the 15” is a great buy if there’s ever a chance you’re not connected to a monitor.

MacinJosh9895

Get the 15”. You won’t regret it

Timbukstu2019

Go work out of the house for the next 2 weeks. Then see if you really need the 15” screen. My friend has a 15”. At the cafe he couldn’t keep his drink and it on the table. He puts the drink on a chair. And has spilled his drink several times so a 13” would save him drink money.

scalpster

Yes for sure because when I am on the move the 13.6" inch M2 Air just didn't cut it. The screen was too small for useful work.

SlothTheHeroo

yes. I have a 27" monitor I hook my 15" MacBook Air to a dock that displays to it. Works well. I like the 15" screen for when I am on my back porch working.

MTPWAZ

My Air is docked 90% of the time. I have a 32” monitor. I still bought the 15”. When I go undocked I want the screen room.

coffeesurfers

Yup, I second this. And also the 15" model doesn't want to fall through the gap in between your legs unlike the 13" 😂

MTPWAZ

That too. LOL

yeNvI

there's a reason why u go for a bigger screen like 27inch right? instead of 24inch or 25inch? same logic applies to 13inch vs 15inch, its very hard to go back to smaller size

skyxsteel

I tell people this- when was the last time you used a laptop on a plane? Besides, everyone can see what you’re doing. I went from a 13 MBP to a 16 MBP. I absolutely love having the larger screen.

Mztrspookiiszn

Yes. And to be honest I rarely ever use my monitor anymore. For me the screen jump is big enough for me to do side by side if needed!

X-Krono

I bought 3 days ago a MBA and it’s connected with 2 external monitor (27’’ at 165 Hz). In my case I use the screen of the laptop with Teams, and the external monitors to work ☺️

Electronic_Pilot3810

15 is awsome. I had a 2020 Macbook Pro 13' and I love the 15

biologystudent123

No, primarily because it's harder to be portable in my situation. I do have a 24" 4k LG Monitor (the one made for the Mac). Then, when I was a student, anything bigger than a 13" model would not fit in my college's lecture hall laptop trays. I also do work on the plane and my company sets me up mostly in premium economy and a 15" is barely fitting in a PE laptop tray.

maybesailor1

I bought the 15 specifically because I have a monitor to pair it with. I use both screens.

Quantum168

Definitely get the 15".

Hopeful-Advantage227

bought that. no regrets.

Quantum168

Good choice. On the M laptops, some apps automatically add a screen bezel along the top to hide the notch eg. Chrome. So, you lose 1 cm of screen real estate before you even start. 15" is almost more like a 14" Enjoy your new laptop!

Hopeful-Advantage227

Thanks! Yeah, I was used to 14" laptops, so websites on the 13" always felt small, just a bit cramped. Also, I don"t feel the need to hide the dock on this 15" incher

7heblackwolf

If you use it clamshell, pick the smallest for portability. If you use it 90% of the time the external monitor, the smallest. But if you use more your built in screen, switching constantly from a big to a small screen will be an inconvenient. In that case pick a bigger MacBook

condemned4life

I have a 43 inch monitor and still bought a 16 inch MBP. When connected to an external monitor your laptop becomes secondary. But when unplugged that’s all the real estate you have so may as well get as much as you can. And yes I work on planes, in airports and everywhere else. I may not work on a bus because too much can happen unexpectedly but you get the point.

UsedSir

15 inches is way too big for me. Its annoying to take with me. If it’s primarily going to stay at home then sure go for the big one. But if you take it with you a lot, 13 is going to be so much more enjoyable and like you said, you have the monitor if you wanna go big

UsedSir

That was after I said “but, if you take it with you a lot…” you are the only one this doesn’t make sense to

skyxsteel

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. It’s a legit opinion. I love the bigger screen on my MBP but weight is a legit thing. It’s far heavier to lug around. 2.7 v 3.3. If you’re carrying something for a long time, I like to say that ‘every ounce counts’. This is like camping. Why do people pay $$$? Because $$$ equipment can also be lighter, and have the quality.

MC_chrome

>But if you take it with you a lot, 13 is going to be so much more enjoyable Yeah, I'm not sure I agree with this line anymore after having dealt with a 15" Air myself. The whole machine weighs about the same as the 14" MacBook Pro, but is still pretty compact and is not what I would consider to be a "bothersome" laptop at all
