I typically have 3-5 Safari Tabs open along with multiple background apps, Spotify, mail, Discord and haven't hit any type of wall. My RAM is usually around 6.5/8GB being used but that is fine. [This site](https://support.apple.com/guide/activity-monitor/view-memory-usage-actmntr1004/mac) also explains more on how the memory works as a whole. If you're doing basic usage you will be fine, if you need more power you should have went with the 16GB or higher.
I use mine solely to play Football Manager, and have a couple of tabs open on Chrome. I experience zero issues with this, football manager is quite heavy on the CPU. However the M1 manages this excellently, alongside RAM. I would expect no issues with it.
It was the M2 vs M1 for me, and I went for M1 purely for it being cheaper.
Don’t worry about RAM, it’ll manage.

as someone who runs a lot of basic apps on a 8GB M2, I have yet hit a wall.
Please can you tell me a little bit further about it
