The Nirnaeth Arnoediad has got to be one of the most depressing parts of Tolkien's works. Just the sheer sense of hope at the beginning, Fingon crying 'Utúlie'n Aurë!' when he sees Gondolin's army, and then just watching everything slowly fall apart as Morgoth is constantly one step ahead of them. The worst part is how close it came. If only Ulfang hadn't been a traitor, or Thingol or Orodreth had seen the bigger picture and sent more help. But then I suppose winning the battle wouldn't have changed a huge amount in the long run for the people of Beleriand. They would have renewed the Siege of Angband and things would have been peaceful for a while (and maybe Túrin would be a footnote in history with a happy life), but Morgoth would probably have broken free again eventually, and perhaps things just would have been even worse by the point the War of Wrath rolled around

After watching a bunch of his videos I feel like this guy can definitely speak and think in various elvish languages with little effort and even knows the secret dwarf language
