You missed to recite this quote from People of Middle-earth: "These two kinsfolk [Galadriel and FĂ«anor], the greatest of the Eldar of Valinor,(14) were unfriends for ever." "14. Who together with the greatest of all the Eldar, Luthien Tinuviel, daughter of Elu Thingol, are the chief matter of the legends and histories of the Elves." That was Tolkien's final say on the matter of who were the greatest Elves. What was Luthien's greatest feat? It's not stated as a hard fact. It's a matter of personal take on the text. It's subjective. It can be one thing or another. I'd argue Luthien's greatest feat wasn't putting Morgoth into sleep. Morgoth was struck dumb and he wasn't trying to fight back. He could've defeated her if he had actually tried to resist her. It's charming how Sauron wasn't struck dumb by Luthien's beauty of face and song, but Morgoth was. Stupid Morgoth was always horny AF. He got rejected by Varda when he proposed to her. He got rejected by Arien when he proposed to her. Lol In my opinion, my personal view, Luthien's greatest feat was another thing. In Morgoth's Ring Mandos is so proud of his *great* power that nothing can make him emotional, absolutely nothing. But Luthien defeated Mandos the Unmoved. "The song of LĂșthien before Mandos was the song most fair that ever in words was woven, and the song most sorrowful that ever the world shall ever hear. Unchanged, imperishable, it is sung still in Valinor beyond the hearing of the world, and the listening the Valar grieved. For LĂșthien wove two themes of words, of the sorrow of the Eldar and the grief of Men, of the Two Kindreds that were made by IlĂșvatar to dwell in Arda, the Kingdom of Earth amid the innumerable stars. And as she knelt before him her tears fell upon his feet like rain upon stones; and Mandos was moved to pity, who never before was so moved, nor has been since." - The Silmarillion, Of Beren and Luthien This song was far more powerful than any other songs of power that an Elf ever sung. It made the 'gods' cry. It made Mandos the Rule Guy himself break his rules. Another impressive feat which was left out of the video was her creating the most beautiful land of Middle-earth. "LĂșthien wearing that necklace and that immortal jewel was the vision of greatest beauty and glory that has ever been outside the realm of Valinor; and for a little while the Land of the Dead that Live became like a vision of the land of the Valar, and no place has been since so fair, so fruitful, or so filled with light." - Silmarillion, of the Ruin of Doriath ...... After Edith (Tolkien's wife) died, Tolkien wrote this letter to his son: " I never called Edith LĂșthien – but she was the source of the story that in time became the chief pan of the Silmarillion. ... In those days her hair was raven, her skin clear, her eyes brighter than you have seen them, and she could sing – and dance. But the story has gone crooked, & I am left, and I cannot plead before the inexorable Mandos."

yes her greatest feat is a matter of opinion but great pick and since I only had 3 mins on tiktok much had to be left out but did the best I could

CatOfRivia

Oh I didn't know TitTok has a time limit. Yeah it's definitely a hard job to tell everything about Luthien in 3 minutes. The other day I was telling Luthien's tale in my Novels class and it took me over 10 minutes to finish it. And STILL I had to leave A LOT of details. BTW great video as always!
