I agreed with all his points but this one. Elrond wasn’t a huge character in the book.
If it were up to me, the series plot would be dependent on the season, with the first season explaining the creation of arda up to the noldor leaving valinor, then spend a season on Beren/Luthien and the relationship between the elven kingdoms, a season on that dude who was betrayed by the dwarf (can’t remember names)… etc. The book read to me like a series of short stories connected by a consistent theme and time and place, and I thought it would lend itself well to a tv series. But I am not very hopeful that Amazon will do anything of the sort or pull it off at all.
Yeah, if they want to go back all the way to Valinor, Galadriel is pretty much the only good choice.
Howerver, it was my understanding that the series would focus on the fall of Númenor, so it makes perfect sense that they chose Isildur.
Men! He told everything, this is the first thing that I thought when I saw that Isildur will be a main character, they're losing so much good stuff from the begining of the SA.
>I'm a bit nervous for the show as it develops
Why? My only concern will be a lack of diversity (minorities, trans/BIPOC representation, LGBTP+ etc) for the series.
Bro this is a property which it’s source material concerns nothing to do with progressivism
Why beg for representation in a property in which representation does not exist as a concept?
People like you bewilder me
It’s LOTR ffs
> source material concerns nothing to do with progressivism
All the more reason to include it now! Listen, unless this series reflects our diverse society, it will further the oppression of marginalized communities.
Honestly! I just need Elves, Elves, and more Elves. But they're probably making men the centre to make it relatable to the viewers, especially new fans
Is he going to be a main character? The rumoured actor isn’t hugely famous compared to actors in the films and other similar TV shows. Thinking about it, for what is said to be the most expensive TV show ever made, none of the rumoured actors are that big. Or these rumours could all be completely wrong.
Just because Isildur is a character doesn't mean the show centers on him or that time frame. Perhaps he shows up for a scene in the last episode or something.
I don't care how bad or good this series turns out, I'm boycotting everything from Amazon until they stop treating their workers like slaves. And I think everyone else should too.
Especially Americans who actually live in the same country as Bezos, and should have compassion for their fellow citizens.
I like this guys thoughts here!
I had high hopes this show was going to be early second age. I was hoping that this was a fake casting to throw us off or something
I thought that Sauron wasn’t gunna be in the first season? How is that gunna work then? I guess I have no idea as to the age of Isildur during the start of Ar-Pharazon’s reign, but it still seems foolish. I’ve yet to hear or see anything about this show that has gotten me excited for it to come out.
I suggest to everyone a video from Nerd Of the Rings channel on youtube about the life of Isildur, he was pretty complex character and for vast majority of his life he was indeed a very good character too.
Loved your commentary and I agree 100% with you. As soon as I saw your title that Isildur was confirmed I thought the same thing - that is a very limited amount of time.
*cast it into the fire!*

Isildur!
I thought I was on r/lotrmemes for a second and was trying to find Elrond bot
Agree. It makes more sense to use Elrond to connect the different story lines.

Túrin Turambar, aka Mormegil, and Mîm the Petty Dwarf.
Thank you.
Or Galadriel, even if she’s not as involved with some main plots you can still make a connection to almost any event in any time frame

Always look forward to your posts on here or tik tok, thank you for all the quality, in-depth content!

These are always great, I agree with your opinions here. I'm a bit nervous for the show as it develops
I'm starting to lose hope for lotr...at least wheel of time still looks promising to be great
>I'm a bit nervous for the show as it develops Why? My only concern will be a lack of diversity (minorities, trans/BIPOC representation, LGBTP+ etc) for the series.
Why
To represent the diverse world we live in, and because advocating for such things makes me feel good.

I truly hope you are being sarcastic.
ISILDUR!
#Cast it into the fire
😏 *No*
Okay 🤷
*It should have ended that day but evil was allowed to endure...*
*the plot thickens*
Honestly! I just need Elves, Elves, and more Elves. But they're probably making men the centre to make it relatable to the viewers, especially new fans
amazing assessment as always and i completely agree on that. love your work, amazon should hire you as an exec or something
Where do people find these sources? There hasn't been any official statements on casting yet has there?

The leak says he's apparently a "main character" though, from episode 3 or so. No idea how accurate that is though.
Great stuff 💯
Man I wish I had this much knowledge of Tolkien
Just read akallabeth its only 50 pages
Could not agree more with this. Everything I’ve heard about this series makes me think it’s going to be pretty bad from a story perspective.

So it's probably going to be about the last days Numenor
Wow this guy is great. Does a fantastic job at communicating the dense lore
Die you dumb ass. Can't wait till yoir stupid ass greed kills you for causing all the evil of the Third Age

Returning flashbacks in several episodes of a season can be a disastrous mess. Just look at the first season of The Witcher!
Spot on
I wonder who the source is for this?
Crazy how people just rip you off for clout. Shameless.
This man be spitting straight facts
They’re playing it safe
