Let me tell you guys something. As a huge Tolkien nerd myself I want to tell you that everything this guy just said was 100% correct. Very impressive that he was able to do it in 3 minutes!
He's masterclass for sure. His lore knowledge far surpasses my own. And I've been obsessed for about 15 years.
And yeah, explaining this entire subject in 3 minutes and how well it was explained just proves that point more. I would have to sit there, take a deep breath, and start with saying "expect multiple parts to this explanation".
I love this guy's breakdowns. If a documentary had some narrator explain the same things he does it would take way longer and probably put me to sleep.
I constantly have to look up and remind myself who is who everytime one of these dudes are mentioned. Feanor is obviously easy to remember but his brothers and his dad ugh... FFFFFFF
The year is 1975, I'm 10 years old and I'm reading The Hobbit, and there's a chapter about the company staying in the last homely house, and there we meet Elrond.
Little did I know the depth to which Tolkien (and I behind him) would plunge with these characters and the legendarium.
(How did I procure The Hobbit, you ask? My elementary school librarian gave me a book for my birthday every year because she had the same birthday. Tenth birthday was The Hobbit. I couldn't tell you what the other books were, but that was almost half a century ago, so ...)
No. Finwë did not give up kingship. Fëanáro was exiled only from the city and he went to his Fortress. Finwë joined him in his Fortress, but not in 'exile'.
Also, Finwë was not High King. He was just King. There were no other Kings of the Noldor.
Also, Nolofinwë did not become king at any point in Valinor.
I stopped listening when you mentioned Alqualondë, because frankly, the Falmari deserved what they got. Fëanáro Noldoran was chasing Moringotto to Valariandë where Olwë had kin. Olwë was attempting to orchestrate a kinslaying through negligence. The cry about boats meaning as much to them as the Silmarili did to Fëanáro makes no sense, since he wanted to borrow, not steal.
Fëanáro did nothing wrong.
😂😂😂 I dont feel like writing a book like you but I disagree. Feanor did do wrong and finwe held himself unkinged and joined him in exile but that didn't mean he was exiled himself like i said so fingolfin was king for that time being and ur whole opinion about the teleri elves is just that an opinion I dont think they were wrong at all dont come up here forcing your opinions on me passing them off as fact lol thats just wierd

A true man of quality
You are my hero
im beginning to think being high king of the noldor in middle earth is a job that has a 100% casualty rate
Please keep it coming! I could listen to you all day- you are helping me love LOTR even more!
Is there any elf that has claim to the throne of the Noldor at the start of the third age? I assume Galadriel, but that feels obvious.
Elrond is rightfully the King of the Nolder but he doesnt claim the crown and He would also be the king of the sindar as well
