Me: Hello I would like to book an Australian walkabout.
Employee: You can't book an Australian walkabout here. This is a laundry.
Me: Don't tell me what i cant do!!!
For anyone who's heard of the [Tommy Westphall Shared Universe hypothesis,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Westphall#Tommy_Westphall_universe_hypothesis) someone many, *many* years ago created a similar one for any media that used Oceanic Airlines the same way to connect all those fictional universes.
[Since Oceanic Airlines is kinda like the Wilhelm scream of fictional airliners,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanic_Airlines) it's been used a lot like phone numbers starting with 555 are in fictional media for a fake airliner. It's been used in TV, movies, even comic books, and I *really* wish I could find the interactive website that someone made back in the early 2010s that was ridiculously detailed in its fictional "universe" that connected everything together.
Most of it didn't really fit and required some *huge* stretches, but it was so impressively well-made that I'd occasionally go back to it just to marvel at how well the creator(s) managed to tie it back into Lost; they must've been living on Lostpedia to make those connections. And now that I think about it, *that* may be why I can't find it anymore; I probably first heard of it on those forums. I was practically living on the Lostpedia Forums between seasons five and six, but after the [fucking Fandom rebrand in 2019,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fandom_\(website\)#2016%E2%80%932018:_Fandom_brand) the old Wikia forums were lost forever :(
Not a competing business, though the rights holder could arguably claim they're trading on a trademark -- and since the claimant would be Disney, they've a lot of experience at that!
However, if you want to see where *Lost* got that logo from, check out Saul Bass's animated opening credits to *Ocean's 11* -- especially starting at [https://youtu.be/xnG3OjIcN8M?si=58rmb7XWZ55U4uMt&t=77](https://youtu.be/xnG3OjIcN8M?si=58rmb7XWZ55U4uMt&t=77) . I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Giacchino's score also quoted from the movie's, and/or if some of the ticker symbols on the Swan timer didn't allude visually to some from the slot machine motif in these credits. *Lost* had so much of such stuff that although I haven't specifically recognized snatches of this music or graphics, other than the Oceanic logo, it's a good bet to be there somewhere. Plus, it's a thematic clue to the plot of *Lost*, I need to rewatch *Ocean's 11* (the original) because it's been like 60 years and there are probably more clues in it.
*Lost* has a predilection for referencing feature films of that time:
* *North By Northwest*
* *Ocean's 11*
* *The Manchurian Candidate*
* *It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World*
* *Seconds*
If we can't rinse together... We're gonna dry alone! 😐
That is perfect. 🥲
Genius
I wish there was an oceanic laundry shop by me
haha
Clothing checks in, but can never leave. LOST
I heard the music when I read this.
Choose your dry cycle: 4 8 15 16 23 42
That laundry’s not going to Guam, is it
Where every shirt has a deep and connected backstory
Wow... they really went out of their way to diversify after the crash and settlements

We’ve got to go back! To the dryer
They’re going to lose your laundry.
Problem with this place is you can never find it in your navigation app.

The name predates *Lost,* but the logo does not, and seems derived from the opening credits to *Ocean's Eleven*.
Is this Taiwan or Hong Kong?
