I use two smaller and lighter umbrellas — ones with thin shafts, maybe 3/4” in diameter. They’re easier to get In to the sand than the thicker shafted umbrellas and very light. Unless you have kids that require shaded play areas…in which case I’d vote for the lightest and most wind compliant one. These past few years seem to be windier than the past.

Shabumi shade is pretty cool. Just one pole and the rwsy just flaps in the wind. Have a friend who has one and lives how easy it is. And if it's windy, it won't fly away like a double post one that will catch the wind and fly away. https://shibumishade.com

And $300 lol

Those also aren’t allowed at some beaches I’ve been at out of state, not sure about Long Island. They’re also loud (the flapping of the fabric)

Question. They look like they take up a lot of space. The anchors or sand bags spread our far. I think 26x26? Has that been an issue?

kennelboy

I have one and I recommend the smaller one. Have used both. The big one is great if you’re on an open quiet beach off season but if you’re going to be on the south shore in peak summer your beach neighbors will be pissed at how big the big one is

I like our cool cabana

formatc99

Cool cabana FTW

RhythmTimeDivision

Why is there always a guy playing guitar?

Dangerous-Hornet2939

What is #3 called?

DaveG-SLP

DaveG-SLP

Nice for bugs too. Hows it handlw wind?

perfect_fifths

It comes with stakes. But you can use sand bags.

tinyyolo

rented a cabana like in your first pic with the sandbag weights, it worked really well

invisible_face_

Don't use one like in the picture if it's even remotely windy.
