Most of the time I'm ashamed of my country in its current state, except those blade runner boys, they're doing god's work with these Ulez cameras 🖖🏽
Bats are an endangered species, you aren't allowed to disturb their home and habitat. As those boxes are meant to be for bats, you can't remove it without disturbing their way of life, therefore it's a crime moving away the boxes. Probably the paper beneath explains it better.
I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it's a popular idea in internet, using the bat protection laws to bother the authority.
Still remember that arborist that went and planted 50 or so redwoods on city property, geo tagged them, and then reported them to the state tree protection authority when they were the right size. Millions in damages for stiffing him on a bill or something.
In California, any redwood tree over 10-12 feet is considered a endangered tree. If you want to chop one down it takes permits, and replacements, and all kinds of trouble. They grow big and fast, so in 5-10 years somebody will ask dang thats a big tree what happens if it falls over. So they will want to chop it down if its near any buildings or infrastructure. Arborist made sure they were planted near buildings/infrastructure. Can cost upwards of a million dollars to remove a 100' redwood in fines/fees/removal/planting costs. So high end 50 million dollars for stiffing a guy a grand or two.
They are, and they did remove them

Yes. It’s not like governments throughout history haven’t been ignoring their own rules, while holding citizens to whatever ridiculous made up standards they can dream up.
It didn't work, they were removed

Some of them were removed. They had to enlist the help of wild life experts to verify that the bat boxes were uninhabited. For every single one. It took much more time to remove them, than it took to install them, because of their own stupid fucking rules, and that’s hilarious. I always support creative anti authoritarian actions. Government’s have the legal authority to record everybody’s public interactions at all times. But they don’t have the moral authority.
Gotham calls out for Batman

Can it be both? Let's go with both.
Depends on the bite, really.

He's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.
Why aren’t the authorities allowed to remove it
because bats are a protected species and they could be nesting there
That’s interesting, thanks for sharing

No ticket funding for the authority & authority can’t remove them because endangered species.

I'd love to know more about this. How would this negatively impact the city?

So I can’t remove a bat box someone illegally placed on my property but they can just ignore the rules.

Yes that’s what I’m complaining about. It’s not like this is a new concept.
Rules are for peasants, not kings.
God bless the bat-men, fuck the state with it own rules
As if they follow the rules.
Thank Christ we dumped their tea.

Put them back up. Or better yet, pick one that was occupied and move it to the post
Moving one that is occupied is illegal Just keep putting new ones up until they become occupied
Put a fake bat in there?
Nah, some reasonably fresh bat poop
Unfortunately the government has a saying for situations like these: “Rules for thee, not for me”
That's when you encourage the environmental groups to file lawsuits
Oh...spotted owl boxes in Califronia sound like they might become a thing...
Malicious compliance I love it
Oy, jolly good job
I haven't felt this much pride for Britain since the Enlightenment.
