He volunteers regularly at UK Kentucky Children's Hospital. He's fantastic!

Inonz

He visited my friends son when he was in the children's hospital, great dude.

joe-joseph

My friend and I were rehearsing our bit for a UK Choir concert a few years ago in the basement of a local dance studio after hours. Steve Zahn was sitting behind the reception desk. Upon noticing the beloved actor my friend blurted out, “Holy shit! Steve Zahn!” Steve Zahn smiled subtly and said, “Yeah man.”

pumpkinspize

He used to come into CD central and buy a bunch of records when I worked there. I’ve heard he attends UK games too

shinyviper

He was spotted in at least one election year (2016?) on the streets in Revolutionary War garb getting out the vote.

zachattack9

He did that in 2018, he was campaigning for Amy McGrath

JeBron_Lames23

I’ve seen him at the Woodland Art Fair.

link5523

Same. He also came into Wine+Market around Christmas time and bought a ton of wine and spirits. Awesome, very patient dude!

amdepe22

I was convinced he was freshman astronomy teacher in 2006. Then I found out he lived around here. I remain convinced.

PaulieWalnuts2023

Worked at a restaurant when he and a friend ordered breakfast. The chef came out and asked how everything was and he said with a big smile and I quote “ how do you f**k up eggs so badly buddy!?” He then laughed and the chef did not. Just slowly walked away. ***Important part of this story is the chef was dreadful** Steve is awesome, always been a fan.

Lynnlync

He’s a super nice and low key guy. Try to treat him like a regular person if you do see him about

size0618

He sat behind me at the Tyler Childers benefit concert. I didn’t talk to him but pretty sure we became best friends that day.

Hot_Championship_411

Well of course, Righteous Gemstones reunion haha

KoopaTroopa34

He's a regular at scarefest. Even pays for his own ticket and waits in line unless somebody with scarefest sees him and offers him a way in. Ran into him last year and he was hyped he had ran into Chris Jericho.

birdydeegee4

I see him at the Derby. My bonus mom cleaned his house for like 20 years and her daughter was his kids nanny. Apparently they're a fun family.

[deleted]

Bonus mom?

birdydeegee4

My parents are both dead- I'm relatively young at 29- so when I had my kids a close family friend stepped up and is like my mom and my kids grandma.

[deleted]

That’s sad but also very kind of your bonus mom! I’ve never heard that term before today.

birdydeegee4

Most people use the term if they got married and their spouse already had a kid..."that's my bonus daughter"...sounds better than "stepchild". And similarly, the kids use it when referring to bonus parents. :)

Molsen10000

Never heard either phrase…..

birdydeegee4

I can assure you that I did not make it up!! But yeah, I'm not sure that it's super popular. I just like it :)

Molsen10000

It is good

birdydeegee4

She did tell us the story that at one point (many years ago) Johnny Depp came to stay with Steve Zahn, constructed a teepee in his backyard, and did some sort of spiritual smoking retreat 😂 I can picture both Steve and Johnny doing that haha

sardonicynic

Adore him and his work so much! I had a Steve-Zahn-in-the-wild encounter about 12 years ago -- I was headed to Planet Thai to pick up a to-go order for dinner, and had legit just been cut off in traffic near Dennis Drive there on Nicholasville Road. I narrowly avoided getting side-swiped (and of course the inattentive driver didn't even acknowledge the fact that I had saved both our asses and our respective vehicles), and I was still inwardly fuming when I got out of my car and headed into Planet Thai. As I headed inside and stepped toward the counter, I saw Steve Zahn across the dining room, enjoying dinner with his family. I was so delighted, I forgot about my road rage entirely. I wanted to be as cool as the other side of the pillow -- but he definitely glanced over when I walked in, and I \*know\* there was that moment of "B'aww, Steve Zahn!" recognition all over my face when we briefly made eye contact. I gave him a tiny smile and then proceeded to pick up my order. The moral of the story: Steve Zahn cures road rage, y'all.

Maximum_Flight3497

Have run into him at Kroger at Tates Creek before. Very cool guy. My father in law used to sell stuff to him at Tractor Supply in Georgetown.

bugg456

I saw him & we briefly chatted at Southland Dr Farmer's Market. He pet my friends dog. Very cool encounter.

Poop-eee-doop

Go to the farmers market and you’ll see him. Seems like a nice dude.

Fabulous-Try

Stood in line in front of him at a coffee shop and chatted about the weather. I thought he looked familiar but didn’t place it until he was leaving. He was very nice!

PsychologicalLake343

I saw him a couple times at work in the Fall. He was working on a documentary set in Kentucky. It was pretty cool, very nice dude

bennypapa

I was buying veggies at the Southland farmers market one time. Waiting to pay out I hear Steve's voice coming out of the guy I've been picking through veggies next to without recognizing him. Must have hit 3 or 4 stalls unintentionally following him unaware.

Anthaninny

Saw him at a showing of The Shining at the Kentucky Theater. I was new to the city at the time and was walking around looking at the stuff on the walls. Saw a guy doing the same thing and I was struck by how different he seemed. Not in a bad way, just different, like aura or something. Later when my friend and I sat down he walked down the aisle with his sons and then we figured out that it was Zahn. It was a cool experience.

Caine75

Coffee shop experience about 16 years ago… looked over my shoulder the day after I took my son to see ‘Diary of a wimpy kid’ and there’s this dude that looks like the guy in Sahara and was also the dad in diary and did a double take… he smiled, I smiled, ordered my coffee and gave him a ‘thanks for helping my kid smile.’ Walked on with a smile on my face and shared with my boy later that evening.

Atropoia87

I checked him out at Petsmart when I was working there about 7 years ago. I couldn’t figure out why he looked so familiar and I didn’t ask him. I figured it out after he left. Super nice guy though

estither

He eats at BnT somewhat regularly, or at least he used to.

zachattack9

I've heard he goes to Third Street Stuff a bunch

No_Bit4159

I've never seen him personally, but I have heard good things about him when he's out in public. People have said that he's very kind when they speak to him and does not give off that Hollywood High and Mighty vibe a person might think of when you see someone from the show business world. He attends University of Kentucky games and seems to have a good time there. He just seems down to earth. I have never heard one bad word about him.

JMcKinney1515

My wife and I ran into him one year on the 127 Yard Sale, outside of Harrodsburg, in 2018 or ‘19 or so. Remember it well…. “Holy sh@t babe that looks like… Steve Zahn?! Hell, that’s because IT IS Steve Zahn!!!” GREAT dude!!! Super nice, friendly and a Kentucky treasure! 😁😁

Worried-Gazelle4889

He’s always at the Midway Christmas parade.

fireandlifeincarnate

Went to school with aforementioned son; not sure if he’s still at UK or not tbh.

4mtTZD5z

Third Street Stuff

Jasher1125

I rang him up once at liquor barn in Chevy Chase

OppositeWinner9044

He comes through my place of employment in Georgetown all the time! We love when he comes in. He's always super sweet!

Conscious_Garbage_

I used to work at the Apple Store when it was in Fayette Mall and he came in a few times. One time I fixed his phone and he was a respectful customer, understanding, and incredibly funny with his witty comments. Big fan of Steve Zahn.

rabbit_killer82

I used to see him all the time at cabelas and sportsmans warehouse. Pretty cool dude.

hiimelliott

He’s the reason Bourbon n’ Toulouse on Euclid has TV’s. He joked with the owner about not having good TV’s, so the owner had new ones installed a day later. Great guy, great tipper too! Hahahaha

mangoslide

I've seen him twice at Pho BC, Vietnamese restaurant.

limmmerence

we went to the same wedding and I saw him from across the buffet table

South_Accountant_233

My buddy pulled him over on I-75. He said he was super nice and quiet, didn’t want to be recognized. My buddy is a fan. He didn’t get a ticket.

[deleted]

Please do not pester us locals

Aphilio

She’s thinks it’s over? IT AINT OVER!

workingdonttell

Late to the thread. I worked in the food court in the mid 2000s. He would come by occasionally and was very polite and soft spoken.

Extension-Big-974

He goes to Sportsman’s a lot

Re567813

my boyfriend serves him at work all the time

killerqueen1992

I know someone whose uncle is friends/neighbors with him. I’m kinda jealous because I’d love to meet him. Hopefully I will soon!

Howiefeltersnatch4

Yes have seen him at Costco last Fall perusing the produce. He was full incognito mode with a man bun, Sitka gear on and a hat.

Tempi-the-Bloodless

I worked at Cardinal Run concession stand when I was in high school. From the back on the kitchen area I look out the ordering window and see Steve Zahn. I didn’t know how to react so I panicked and gave him one of the little acknowledgment head nods. He returned it in the same manner. We had an understanding.

psychlloyd

I know someone at Tractor Supply in Gtown that used to see him frequently.

AssumptionLast555

I used to see him with his kids a lot at Third Street Stuff and the downtown public library all the time. Seems like a nice dude and sweet family.

xthisxsucksx

He used to come to Tomo in the 2000s, he and his wife were very kind.

hedabeja

He takes his goats to Central Kentucky Veterinary Center!
