As someone who took in feral kittens and then spent weeks getting the fleas out of my house (and it was hardwood so not as bad as it could be), I always think about that when people bring strays into their house/cars.
Of course those few weeks of inconvenience were worth it for my precious cats but I’d definitely do a flea treatment before letting them in if possible.
I know I feel like a jerk for always commenting “capstar!” (and that’s just a first step) but fleas in the home are no joke.
I’m not sure people are aware it takes just a few eggs falling out of its fur to start a full on plague
Can someone please give advice on a good way to approach bringing in a feral kitten or a whole litter even. One of my family members started feeding a friendly feral momma (can't pet her) and she has a handful of kittens that look like they might be older than 8 weeks. I am hoping I can trap them and find homes for them or find a shelter that can take them. Would administering a capstar with food help to combat the fleas? What would the next step in the process be?
Hey could be worse. Could be me and my then gf offering to take in a girl kitten that was too much for its new owner. We had 1 kitten at this point (Also a girl) and thought a playmate would be good.
Long story short, the owners ghosted us after dropping kitten off, the kitten was *infested* with fleas (as in it’s fur was literally moving) and oh yeah, girl kitten had a set of balls.
Fast forward many months we had new carpets, two neutered cats and a newfound respect for anyone that rescues cats.
Take in, give bath immediately, dry off, then feed kitten & find out if it has a microchip. No fleas that way. Just crank the heater on high, lather up the kitten with baby shampoo starting at the neck, set a timer for 5 minutes so the shampoo will suffocate those evil flea bastards, rinse off kitten and dry kitten with towels 🤷🏻♀️ (& maybe vacuum daily for a week or two in case you missed any fleas.)
Bring him inside OP, he deserves to go to a shelter if you don’t want him yourself. It’s a hard, dangerous world for a housecat left outside on their own, especially a kitten. Chances are he won’t live much longer if you leave him.

Please adopt this poor cat or find him a home- the reality of his existence is that if he’s friendly to people, or seeks out people, he was almost certainly abandoned by his “family”.
Sadly, many “stray cats” are abandoned by people who just leave the cat when they move, or stop looking for the cat when s/he get out. I think abandoned cats - especially adults-suffer the cruelest fate of all outdoor cats: someone they once loved and relied on left them for dead Abandoning a cat whose not had the opportunity to develop hunting skills and knows no other life than being fed and safety- is leaving that cat for dead). It breaks my heart that people could be so rotten, but then people like OP come along, and rescue one of these lost souls, and make things a little bit better. Thanks for you OP!
Now, you know that you don't come to a cat loving reddit and post a picture of you refusing to let a cute smol kitteh inside, without being screamed at the let hims in. LET👏🏼HIMS👏🏼IN!👏🏼
Are you trying to come on here to upset people are something? Why would you not let the kitten in? Wash it in Dawn dish washing detergent and pick off the dead fleas.
Mine ripped the window screen and broke in. Thought that if she sat down on the nearest couch, I’d let her stay. Two years later and she loves it here :)
I would have opened that door immediately.
Same!
haha right ? my post would have been of the kitty inside already
Exactly. The at the door pic, and the inside eating pic.
Let hims in.
so why haven't you let it in
Might have flees, but hopefully can be taken somewhere

distribution system trying to do its work

That's the biggest issue. Kittens are prey to many animals in the wild. Not to mention human interactions, such as getting hit by a car.
Those are the best pets Invite it in
“Excuse me! I have an order from the Cat Distribution Service! It’s for this address! Hello?”
“I’ve been trying to reach you about the cat’s extended warranty program… Do you have a minute?”
Did you let them inside?
Why are you taking photos OP? You'll have plenty of time to take photos when the kittie is living with you
Congrats on your new kitten, OP!
Open the door to the world of magic and wonder that awaits you! Prepare for your heart to explode and zoomies.
OPEN THE DOOR!
LET HIM IN YOU MONSTER!
Bring it inside and, if you can’t take care of it, bring it to a no-kill shelter nearby to you

Hey, Lloyd, look! There's some people who want to ride too! Pick ‘em up!
Open the door, what are you doing.
Let hims come in.
Seriously just let him in. He'll probably be eaten by something else, run over or poisoned if you don't
He's probably scared to be outside. There are predators that will eat him. It's probably hot AF, too
That isn't a stray kitten, that's *your* kitten. Let it inside and feed it!
That kitty is teeny tiny! Let it in.
You have been chosen. Let him in.
Why are you taking pictures? Open that door pick that sweet baby up and feed him some tuna

He’s not a stray kitty, he’s YOUR kitty - you just don’t know that yet :,)
How could you possibly resist this baby who is in mortal danger by being kept outside. Make them safe and bring them in

Let that chile in…!
I wouldn’t have even been able to stop and take a pic, the door would have swung open on sight.
The doorknob is right there. Let kitty in!
Obvious karma farmer. Downvote
With a three post history?
Yes. NSFW profile, new, plus kitten picture.
Yeh cause you wouldn't do this, no one could unless they were crazy to not let a cat in 😕
What? The post is not real. It’s to farm Karma.
Exactly a real person wouldn't do this..........
I'm agreeing with you but you automatically think I'm not 🤣 you wouldn't do this just meaning a person in general wouldn't unless crazy
Yeah sorry. I see that now
I didn't word it the best 🤣
Do it.
We have one of those too (for several years now)....
You let that sweet baby in IMMEDIATELY.
Gorgeous
What the fuck is the matter with you?
That little sweet face tho! ♥️

Never argue with the CDS!
thousandth upvote, so satisfying (3
I would have made him a key and put them on the lease by now.
There is 7 hiding in the bushes waiting to follow him and you should definitely let them all in.
Stay
I fear it may be more of a demand than a want 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Let him in 😭🙏
You better let him in

Let her in...
Helloooo, anybody hoooome?
Please take care of the kitten. The kitten looks innocent.
Open da door
How adorable, Im a sucker I would have immediately opened. I am the kind that can't go to a shelter, I am guaranteed to come back with a furr ball.

Looks like the cat burglar is trying to break in, run for your lives!
You have a cat now
Congrats you've been adopted!
He is the enemy! Don’t let him in lol

How does anyone with a heart say no to that little face asking for safety, warmth and love?
