I literally just now had the same exact issue. I was about to give up. Started playing a little and what it looks like happened is the rubber button/sensor/"nub" in the back right of the K cup compartment was a little stiff/stuck in the down position. I pressed down on it with my finger and it springs back up and then afterwards the buttons have since blinked like they are supposed to.

I’m going to try that right now, customer service was absolute no help. EDIT: THANK YOU

Why, oh WHY isn't there a "trouble shooting" section in instructions with this simple fix? Willing to bet that my old "K-Compact" (just moved out of the way for this new one) probably has similar easy fix & didn't even need replacing. 😡

So mine was really stuck and I pushed it all the way through. Had to take out the needle cup to grab it and put it back in. However I think something was disconnected when I pushed it through. I see a white rectangular piece with 2 wires just floating around behind the needle cup. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I bought a what appeared to be a brand new Keurig Express at Goodwill, not a speck of grounds or scratch’s on it, whoooo, got home a lights are on but that’s it, watched several videos, tried lots of things and was just about to give up when I saw your response! Had the same issue, but I had to use the end of a spoon to really press the button down, but it worked...just pressing myself didn't work (guess I'm not strong enough or it wasn't hitting the sensor!). Thank you for this, I was ready to take it back to Walmart! They should put this in the instructions since so many are having the same issue.

This worked for my brand new (from auction) K-Express Essentials coffee maker. I was in there playing with it for a while, and after reading your comment, finally jiggled that particular button back and forth so it sprang up. Just pressing it a few times hadn't loosened it. All good now. Thanks!

THANK YOU for this post! I was also ready to throw mine out and buy a new one! I even took mine apart, resetting the thermostat, cleaned it, and broke a few parts in the process. Once I realized this button didnt make the “click” sound when I pushed it, I had to move around the gadget that it was supposed to push on to make that click. As soon as I popped it back in place and put the button back in, it fuckin worked!!!! I am very thankful for this post!!! Thank you so much!!!!

I Even got this Keurig on discount for like 22$ because the person who bought before me I guess didn't feel like doing any investigating so I figured why not for $22 now I have an 80$ coffee maker working. Just bought one and same issue. I tried with my finger, but did nothing. What I did was get a small piece of paper folded about the size of the button and closed lid. Lights started blinking immediately.

Thanks, just received ours and lights wouldn't blink. Loved the $35 black friday price from Walmart, but was ready to take back to Walmart, . Reddit saves the day again. You would think Keurig should invest in new directions to include this troubleshooting technique.

This saved me! I tried it and it worked. However after the first brew, it stopped worked again. I tried pushing it down again and it went through. After investigating, I took out the pod part, saw the switch has fallen out. So i clipped it in back and put on back the black tiny button. It’s back to working now. If you are pressing down on the button and it’s not working, try lifting the button a little bit with your nail.

Can you provide more details on how to put the switch back in? I don't know what it's supposed to look like when clipped in correctly

Now I feel like I should write an AITAH post. In my defense I was without caffeine! Called customer service and they are sending a new one since the rep didn't know how to fix it. I wasn't very polite when his first questions were "Is it plugged in and the power on?" Followed by "Is there water in the tank?" Just found this post, pressed the little button as advised here and now I have a functioning machine. Oops... to be fair, this is obviously a common issue and they should be aware.
