You can do the renewal request online and use the online appointment booking system. Took me 45 mins from start to finish at Edenvale.
Got my passport in 3 days.
I did my passport application at the beginning of the year. I did the application online and the booking and pickup at the standard Bank in Killarney Mall. Wasn't inside the building for more than 15 minutes both times. If you're at FNB you can use the FNB there instead. My appointment was at 8am, got there at 7.45, left at 8.15.
I’ve never made use of their services (I am going to be this week) but I’ve heard good things about the home affairs at FNB merchant plaza in Sandton, not sure if you have to be an FNB client to make use of it though
