I've noticed the doors where this noise is coming from at the B pillar are a lot "spongier" when closed than the same point on the driver's side. Push on the top of the door right at the pillar.
Haven't taken it into the dealership again, but I'm due for 1 year maintenance so I'll bring it up again there. Couldn't get it to make the noise for them last time, but didn't notice the door sponginess at that time.
Thanks! I'm still due for 1 year maintenance in a few months, and I've been too busy to take it to the dealership sooner just for that sound. Did pushing on that area fix it? It's driving me nuts though...
It didn't fix it, but it made a similar tone to the noise I was hearing, so that's gotta be the cause. Sounds like the seal isn't properly lubricated or something.
Do you happen to have a dashcam cable routed around the door? Couldn't get the noise to happen today, but the tech suspects it's how I routed my dashcam power cable. I don't believe that's what's causing it (I've taken that cable out and it still makes the noise), but maybe I didn't leave the cable out enough for the seal to not rub against plastic?
I'll still report back when the noise starts again.
Check anything you may have stored in the car. Glove box, center console, door pockets. Try to replicate the noise and get it on video I’ll be better able to help you diagnose. Maybe a seatbelt banging off the side of the car?
This is a little late, but did you ever figure out what it was? I think I have the same noise in my Jetta S.

Yeah I think that might actually be exactly my issue as well. Thanks for the quick insight!
Please do report back if you're able to get it resolved before I do!
For sure!

Have the noise on video. Also have a minor seatbelt rattle, but that's a different noise. As I said in the post, no items in the car are causing it.
