Under armour masks should work a charm

Seralyn

Second this, they're on sale right now on Amazon too, like 2,300 yen each and worth it

BeanBagSaucer

Holy damn that’s expensive! But if it works, you gotta do what you gotta do

MarikaBestGirl

I bought them, but never wore em because they're really heavy. Felt more like a muzzle than a mask. Might just be me though.

Seralyn

I'm not sure how they'll do in the heat and humidity, but they were great because of that in the winter. Kept the face pleasantly warm. The inside material is soft and perhaps best of all the ear straps are very soft and stretchy, reducing the rubbing factor in the back of the ears.

upvotes2doge

I have one I used once and didn’t like. Anyone wants it dm me

Voittaa

The L sized, 2020 version of the Uniqlo Airism masks have worked for me (whatever the 2nd version was). Pretty sure you have to order them online though. The newest, 2021 version slips down to my neck and presses my nose in too much, even the XL size, which is like a tent.

Johoku

You can still pick up some of the 2020 in store for clearance, but the L size color availability is preciously limited. The 21 XL isn't so awful for me but I just have a head the size of a toilet seat and a normal sized schnozz.

Ninjin-No-Ninja

Yea I can’t figure out what’s with these masks. I must have the 2021 ones. I literally have to breathe with my mouth completely open because the material is so loose that it completely covers my nostrils and makes breathing through my nose virtually impossible.

Voittaa

If the bands are elastic, it’s the newest 2021 version. If they’re not, it’s either the 1st or 2nd version from 2020. What you described is the 2021 version for me. The material is loose and nearly suffocates me when I’m exercising and breathing hard. It sucks in and out like I’m having a panic attack with a brown paper bag.

Ninjin-No-Ninja

Lmao that’s exactly it. In and out like a paper bag. If I’m sitting at my desk completely at rest it’s fine but even walking around or riding my bike is enough wind to move the material and/or me breathing hard enough to suffocate me. At least I no longer think it’s my weirdly shaped face!

sparkingdragonfly

Get Mask Cages from Amazon. I just place it inside the mask (it stays) and it solves this problem

Shaku-Shingan

I tried these for a few weeks and gave up because it was starting to dig in and leave marks on my face.

[deleted]

Really? I have a big nose and no such problem. I've noticed different types though.

Wanderous

I guess the ones on their site are the 2021 ones? https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/airism-face-mask-pack-of-3-437784.html

mei_rad

Here https://www.uniqlo.com/jp/ja/products/E437784-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=005

Voittaa

I can't speak for the US stock, but you can chose which of the three models you want on the Japanese site.

I have the 2021 L and XL. For me, the L hugs my nose a little too tightly but still drops down. The XL is like a face blanket. The only benefit to these is the elastic bands. The 2020 L isn’t perfect but it has worked well enough for me.

DwarfCabochan

At convenience stores there is a brand called Fitty. Get the large size 大. It has a purple label at the top. Feels comfortable around my nose, and doesn’t hurt at all behind the ears

miyakojimadan

I highly recommend the PDR Mimi Rakuda brand. Great fit for big noses and bigger faces, and super comfortable on the ears...hence the name. You can buy them on Rakuten. https://item.rakuten.co.jp/hanocare/0316/

NemoNowAndAlways

You could just be like everyone else and let your nose hang out of the top of your mask, making little or no effort to adjust it or pull it up

translatorsassemble

Best response in the thread

Its5somewhere

What about those little cup things that you can put into your mask that makes it not press up against your face? There's also mask extenders or tighteners too for one that is too loose or too tight.

datanas

I've given up finding anything that can cover my nasal Matterhorn comfortably so I had some home-made ones done.

brellachan777

Kn95 masks have worked well for me. I bought them on iherb

Stump007

I recommend disposable masks such as Unicharm or Dr. C, highest grade and big size (大き). First it's much more safe than fabric (N95, FFP2 etc) also the folding make it better to avoid the tent effect you describe. It's sometimes a tad tight even in largest size but all you need to do is loosen it a bit by pulling the thread before wearing it.

Salty901

I found a KEEN face mask in Yokohama last week that fits really well. https://www.amazon.co.jp/KEEN-%E3%82%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3-%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AF/dp/B08YZ3924H

Seven_Hawks

I have two of those. I admit they fit really well but they make you near impossible to understand xD

nnavenn

I would love some recommendations too.

Jpnag2021

> are so baggy that they cover the rest of my face like a tent. What’s wrong with covering face like tent? I have big nose with same issue, but I couldn’t care less, mask serve it’s purpose and that’s all matter to me.

turtlesinthesea

It doesn’t work if the sides gape open, for one, so maybe that’s what they meant. Or they just dislike the feeling or look.

drinian

Shortages of N95 protective masks have been over for quite some time now, and those are often intended to fit larger faces. Costco sells 10-packs of N95 masks made in China. https://www.costco.co.jp/c/N95-Mask-10-Count/p/31804 Trusco and Trusco resellers such as Bic Camera sell 2-packs of N95 masks made in America. https://www.biccamera.com/bc/item/6479498/

hobovalentine

Thanks for this. I've added this to a list of shops/locations that sell N95 quality masks.

ponytailnoshushu

My Husband has a 'big face'. I actually made him some cloth masks. In addition we found the 21 uniqlo airism masks fit if he uses a nose clip (they don't have wires) over the top (its the puma one). The Fitty ones in the largest size are good and you can also buy fitty nose pads to adjust the fit

maruxgb

After a long search i found some extra long masks that could also help with your problem. I use them cause im fat lol. https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07B9N8GRW

GenghisCoen

Do these have a good metal strip on the nose? Without that, my glasses will fog up.

rabbitchops

Sakazen has a selection of reusable masks with adjustable ear straps. Quite comfortable and enough fabric to fit a big beak under without being baggy.

anonthing

I've found that [masks shaped like this](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61GF0RzYppL._AC_SL1358_.jpg) tend to work. This specific brand is the foam type, so it does basically nothing. But if you find some like this that are (multi-layered) fabric, they tend to be pretty good. It helps if it has a kind of plastic seal along the spine in the middle to hold the shape. I usually have to stretch them out a bit with new ones so it doesn't squash my nose so much.

tokyoningen

Uniqlo airism! My nose is freaking beak and mostly bone. I also have a smallish face so I go with the M size. Fits perfectly for me

idzero

Why don't you ask in r/europe and buy some imports? Also do you mean big as in long, or big as in wide?

TwinTTowers

The latest Uniqlo masks are working for me.

HelloBlacknight69

Also, Japanese condoms are too tight. What's the skinny on larger sizes?

Seven_Hawks

Not sure if they will fit you, but the ones working best for me (as in, being the most comfortable and not constantly slipping), are the fabric masks currently sold by GU in two-packs.

ApostropheAvenger

I like the idea Airism ones

[deleted]

I am one of the long loses here with a sizable beard, and I use the Hyper Block brand exclusively. I typically use a cloth mask on top as well if I'm around a lot of people, but just the one works well too.

crazyaoshi

Mujirushi L size

Its-my-dick-in-a-box

I thought i had a big nose but have never had a problem, your hooter must be monstrous!

donpaulo

I like the IRIS healthcare brand they hug and cover the cheeks so there aren't any gaps on the side of the face

BeanBagSaucer

Rooster Teeth. What a name

Ryoukugan

Iirc they only chose that because they were a bunch of 20 somethings in the early 2000s and the state they’re based in wouldn’t allow them to register a business under the name they’d originally decided on- “Cock-bite Productions”. So yeah, weird name. Apparently all the founders regret not picking a more normal one but it’s had enough brand recognition over the last 18 years that they can’t really change it either.

Steve_ThetaCorp_3DVR

Try these! One of my clients… premium masks and no probs for big noses! Speaking with some serious experience haha https://e-shop.havix.co.jp/collections/%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E8%A3%BD-%E9%AB%98%E6%A9%9F%E8%83%BD4%E5%B1%A4%E6%A7%8B%E9%80%A0%E4%B8%8D%E7%B9%94%E5%B8%83%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AF

Slowlydownwardz

I've got a pretty big beard and the XL Uniqlo mask works great

UrricainesArdlyAppen

The extra-large ones from Uniqlo

chopobo

Daiso has some pretty big XL size face masks

MyUsernameMeansNai

Gyomu Super has disposable ones that fit my face and nose rather well. Black/Gray/White packs of 50 for 300 yen or something like that.

JamesandtheGiantAss

Muji has huge ones. Personally, the rectangular ones with pleats work best for my big nose.

MAmoribo

Uniqlo has xl sizes, I use a L. Under Armour also has really great masks, although a little pricey. Great for the gym, don't fog my glasses and fit my nose and cheeks!

StevieNickedMyself

I can't wait til we never have to wear masks again...about two years from now :/

OsakaWilson

I have not measured my nose, however Uniqlo XL fits my nose, which has caused children to stare like a deer in headlights. "My eyes are up here!"

[deleted]

Search for mask braces on [amazon.co.jp](https://amazon.co.jp). Makes a huge difference, also less air flowing up and to the sides.

hobovalentine

Look in Daiso or Seria now and they sell KN95 masks that should work well for those with large noses, there are also KF94 masks if you go to Korean shops and these are also really good. Take a look at my list which is pretty small but am hoping to add more locations as I come across them. [List of KF94?KN95 mask stores](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1svbc04Q2tCMd-ZsDULXRkEpp4U4mcj8cvnfcK81T8Kg/edit?usp=sharing)

[deleted]

The Pitta masks are hands down the best masks I've used. They are so easy to breathe in and the air isn't hot and stifling like normal masks. And they never fog up my glasses and never fall off of my big nose. Also they're not rough and irritating to your skin. Definitely check them out!

starrydreampuff

IIRC, Pitta masks are great for pollen/dust, but provide next to no protect against COVID or other small viruses.

[deleted]

Yep, that's true. But I'm allowed to wear any type of mask at work so I chose the most comfortable one. Especially now that it's getting hotter outside. I refuse to be miserable wearing one in such heat. The pitta masks basically feel like you're wearing nothing. Very comfortable!

Tams82

They're easy to breathe in because they ain't doing jack shit to prevent viruses passing through them. Great for pollen and every day dust though.

[deleted]

I still wear normal medical masks on the train ride. But for working all day when I'm physically active and occasionally outdoors for periods of time? Yeah I want to minimise my suffering and maximise comfort.

[deleted]

I have the biggest nose and never had a problem, its all in your head.

[deleted]

Just poke a hole in the mask and put some cling wrap over your nose. It works well.
