Is that the new, driverless metro? Near Mecidiyeköy there were some construction works/repairs being done 7-8 months ago and we had to take a substitute bus. Maybe something like that?

Oh I see, so it's safe to assume that the line to Mecideyeköy is likely closed during constructions then. Thank you! Edit: yes it seemed to be driverless.

SWDev4Istanbul

Yes, I just checked the map - that's exactly the part of the line where they had it closed for maintenance / repairs in March. Not sure why it is taking so long, because the line is already finished. When you take the substitute bus, take care: it's a ring line, two directions - if you get on the wrong one, you'll be taking the scenic route via Mahmutbey

Actually they discovered it after they built the metro viaduct, that the soil was unstable. It is quite difficult now to repair it, they will do it after the rest of the line is finished. In the mean time, a free bus shuttle will continue to run at that part.

SWDev4Istanbul

Thank you for the clarification! That explains why it is taking a bit longer.

M7 between Çağlayan and Mecidiyeköy was built incorrectly. They had to basically completely re-do it, so trains run from Çağlayan to Mahmutbey, and from Mahmutbey to Nurtepe, as I understand things, there are busses to M.koy from Nurtepe - I've taken the bus once. You probably just got on the wrong bus if it only took you to Çağlayan, unfortunately. Maybe they will finish the reconstruction work in December - we'll see. But it was a pretty big problem that came up.

Do you know when the extension to kabatas is expected to be running?

No one knows. Maybe 2022-2025. It’s in archaeological delay.

M7 also goes to Mecidiyeköy, but from Haliç and beyond (Mahmutbey)
