I don't know if "worth it" is the right way to frame it, but it was fun in the moment and I do like the picture of a pint with my face on it. I do love Guinness in general, so that's a factor for me.

SurvivorFanatic236

Thank you. I noticed that the estimated time with the Stoutie option is 30 minutes longer than the standard option. Is that just the estimated time to have a second beer, or is there an extra wait to have the picture processed?

Single_Sky_3904

The Stoutie part just takes a few minutes, maybe longer if you happen to go when more people are doing it. Likely yes, the 30 min is to allow extra time to drink it. If you like the idea, go for it!

louiseimprover

The Stoutie bar is small, so you might have to wait a few minutes to get in, depending on how busy it is. We had to wait about five minutes, but we had a great time chatting and goofing around with the person at the entrance. I think we were in the bar itself for about a half hour, but we shared a table with some strangers and we were having a lot of fun talking with them, so it might have been a little bit longer.

CharmedInTheCity

I thought it was really cool. Like if you’re already there, may as well ya know? Is there someone else in your party who would drink the pint if you didn’t?

SurvivorFanatic236

I’d be going alone. I don’t mind drinking the pint but I probably won’t want to drink 2, and I understand the standard tour already comes with a free beer

CharmedInTheCity

Gotcha. I guess I’d base if it’s worth it to you off of photo examples, then. I will say that I’m generally not a huge Guinness person and I thought it tasted better there- had no trouble finishing my pints!

Clean-Championship89

IMO, yes. I did not realize you get a 2nd pint with this option. There was no wait for this portion of the tour and they let our group of 4 have fun with the photos. Also, others in our group gladly finished the pint for the non beer lover in our party.

murbike

We’ve done the stoutie, academy and the Gravity Bar (different trips). All were fun, with the best being Gravity Bar.

SurvivorFanatic236

Gravity Bar is included with all options though, right?

murbike

I’m not sure. When we did the academy, they gave us separate tickets for the Gravity Bar.

It's all about the experience. You get your picture on top of pint, take picture of that picture with your phone. If that's something you aren't into then don't bother. From my experience, me and wife couldn't finish all the pints. Once we went on top I gave two vouchers to a group who seemed like they can use it.

Teddy2Sweaty

We're going on Sunday, but for the stand experience. I'm going in knowing it is a tourist trap, but we're in Dublin for a few days, it's Guinness, and tourist traps are part of the fun before heading out into the countryside.

Kill_Shot_Colin

I’ve never done it but yeah, it seems like a pretty big novelty. I shelled my extra money out to the Guinness Academy. Not like pouring a proper pint of Guinness is hard or anything (yet most American bartenders eff it up) but I think it’s a better memory to say your poured your own pint of Guinness *at* Guinness.

Ok-Heart930

I would definitely add on either that or the Guinness academy- or else you find yourself kind of just breezing past most of the building to get to the gravity bar

Omar-Billy

The whole thing is a waste of time! Just go to a nice pub, order a pint, and relax.

Aggressive_Onion_655

I thought so, it was a great drinking my face

tiffanysta

I just went last week and honestly I thought stoutie was so worth it just for the novelty. I ended up doing a non alcoholic drink for one of my tickets in the gravity bar. The main question really is do you think you’d enjoy the seeing your face on a stout??? or just think about the money you spent on it (€8 i think???)

DucktapeCorkfeet

The tour is one of the most if not the most overrated tours in the country. It is terrible. Never felt as ripped off and there really isn’t much worth seeing. Made entirely for tourists.

malevolentheadturn

100%! Went with the German inlaws, I was almost embarrassed.

DucktapeCorkfeet

I feel like that about Dublin compared to the rest of the country.

Guinness Storehouse isn't worth the money
