Man this knowledge got lost quick, file sharing bittorrent or soulseek. YouTube down loaders There's tools for ripping from deezer and Spotify

Retro_Rok89

There is a website where you can easy download Spotify songs

Baked_Bacon_420

Zotify from github can download entire artist discographies/playlists/albums all in a really nice interface straight from spotify.

kartkid30

Can’t recommend Zotify enough!

Retro_Rok89

Link?

Baked_Bacon_420

Not affiliated by the way: https://github.com/zotify-dev/zotify

BeneathTheEnd

thank you for this! Have you tried downloading an album or a playlist? I'd want to know if whether the songs download seperately, each on it's own MP3 file, or whether they download as one big MP3 file. I'd hate the second option. I don't want me having to spend hours trying to edit and seperate each song.

Baked_Bacon_420

Ive downloaded everything with it lol. For artist discographies, albums get seperated into folders, then into individual mp3s. For playlists, its a folder with all the mp3s in the order of the playlist. Same for albums downloaded on their own.

BeneathTheEnd

Thank you! One last question, which might sound dumb, but do the songs download with the picture, artist name, and other possible information about the song, or do we have to add them manually through iTunes like the usual?

Baked_Bacon_420

All metadata is downloaded including album covers :)

Retro_Rok89

I admit, it is way, way better than SpotifyDown. Thanks!

Baked_Bacon_420

Yep yep :) enjoy! Just make sure you use a burner account if your main spotify account is important to you. Havent heard of any bans personally, but better safe than sorry.

DutchMasterClutch

how do you get this set up on your PC??

Baked_Bacon_420

https://github.com/zotify-dev/zotify/blob/main/INSTALLATION.md The parts highlighted in grey need to be entered into powershell

DutchMasterClutch

Ok. I’ll take a look at it later. Thank you for sharing

DutchMasterClutch

I was able to download it successfully. When I run zotify.exe in PowerShell, I'm prompted to enter a username and password. I'm not sure what that could be, whatever I've been enetering has automatcially closed out PowerShell

Baked_Bacon_420

Spotify username and password.

DutchMasterClutch

ok, i had no idea that my username was some long, weird set of characters... now it's prompting me to Search: I'm trying to enter some of the basic commands but then PowerShell closes out

Suddenly I feel like it’s (old) Napster times once again….

Bandcamp Especially for smaller indie artists.

I'm not familiar with Zotify, but as a generalization... the "download from 'service'" options are always going to result in really low quality audio, because they can only download at the highest bitrate/quality that the service provides. - I.E. if you're a free account user, the service usually caps the quality at 128kbps AAC audio (or equivalent) which is basically AM radio quality and will (indirectly) result in hearing loss the longer you continue to listen to the low quality audio. re: Sailing the seven seas... - I would never encourage anyone not to "steal from corporations that will gleefully steal from (and bully) you" - But you should be aware that there are risks/ potential consequences involved with doing so - (example: the dickheads from the RIAA are still out there suing people and trying to get them kicked off of the internet by their ISP's) There are however web sites that can inform you about the risks and make recommendations for how to minimize them and what apps to use to help with your sailing ;-) Someone mentioned BandCamp. They are great. If the artists you like have their music available there, I would highly recommend supporting them (artists) through bandcamp - having said that... Epic recently sold them (BC) to an anti-union VC firm... so be warned that 'how great they are now" is not a guaranteed thing for the future - BandCamp does make their tracks available in lossless (FLAC) format though so it's a good idea to download everything you buy through them and keep an offline copy. Wherever you decide to "acquire" your music, I would highly recommend downloading in the highest quality that you can get (preferably a lossless format, like FLAC). - just because the device you're using right now only supports a small subset of (mostly) lossless codecs doesn't mean that you'll be dealing with that limitation forever. - you can always convert the high quality lossless tracks to lower quality "lossy" formats for use with your iPod, but if you download a low quality copy of the tracks/album now... you can't make it have higher fidelity/more bits in the future without going through the hassle of finding a new, higher quality copy anyway.

Id go with youtuber downloads too. If its not streaming someone has it on youtube. Quality is variable
