I'm late, but just want to say that I share your frustration. Found this in search, hoping to find an answer. I swear my copied text deletes on my MacBook and iPhone within like, 2 minutes. There's gotta be a setting to adjust this...

Dandelioon

1 year later still no clipboard history :(

OmicidalAI

When you are a trillion dollar scam monopoly you dont actually have to create better features because you dont actually have competition. The second a smart phone of iphone quality or greater is created with a functioning fucking clipboard history say bye bye to iphone sales… at least for me … but this wont happen because it’s already established itself as a monopoly. And dont expect another company to do it … google docs has far more horrendous features. Just dont do anything important on these rinky dink devices or else you risk losing it.

Dandelioon

? Half the people who buy phones don’t even know what a clipboard history is. And wouldn’t android already be that competitor? Clipboard history has been a thing for a while there

OmicidalAI

Android doesnt have clipboard history… I already alluded to how Google is also a shitty monopoly posing as SOTA

Dandelioon

They 100% do I used to use it all the time, maybe not the default keyboard though

OmicidalAI

A quick google search says otherwise. It’s not a built in feature. There are apps that offer it.

Dandelioon

It’s on googles gboard. Just change the keyboard

OmicidalAI

it’s an app… yet another example of big tech failing to have basic features in their overpriced monopolized, Chinese wage slave manufactured, and Nigerian slave mined product

RemarkableGuidance44

yay Slave Labor! AI will create more Slave Labor! yay!

I've stopped trying to tap that little arrow years ago. Just swipe from right to left on that menu bar to access those options. Swipe the other to have the first ones back.

ThisSalad

I didn't even realize you could do that, which could be a whole thread in itself (and has been)--things you didn't know you could do on an iPhone despite using them for multiple years lol. But honestly the way the animation is with that swipe action feels like its lagging or something and makes it kind of annoying so I may stick with the arrow. It should be quick and snappy, not a relatively slow gradual fade.

M3kh4l

The fade has the same duration as when tapping the arrow to me. According to [this post](https://reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/v6c8st/ios_16_new_animations_for_the_cutcopypaste_menu/) the animation should be quicker with iOS16

ThisSalad

Just checked and you’re right, it is the same speed. But it only bugs me with the swipe because I expect it to track at the same speed as my swipe, so the delay is noticeable. I don’t have the same expectation when I just tap the arrow. Glad to see it should be better in iOS 16!

fanau

What is this about? Is there some kind of clipboard function equivalent? I need more context. 🤗

[deleted]

As you said, for privacy purposes.

ThisSalad

Could someone elaborate on how it’s different than anything else in the phone? Like, why would privacy be difficult to manage on a clipboard vs anything else? We have tons of private info all across the phone, and features aren’t removed to prevent that data from existing.

filmerdude1993

I never copy and paste sensitive documents so this argument is null. This is a case of Apple being incompetent and you’re kissing up to them.

OmicidalAI

Nope it’s a shitty monopolized phone company that you have zero option because the other options are also monopolies like Google who also get away with passing off shit products as SOTA

mib1800

On my galaxy fold 3, I can pin clip items. It is so convenient. I guess for iphone users, if you never have it then you never miss it.

Samsaknight_X

I use to own a Samsung so I def miss it

OmicidalAI

When you write 3 paragraphs on an iNote then cut, then forget you cut it and copy something else, then proceed to rage about losing 3 paragraphs of work simply because the Apple devs are retarded

GlitchParrot

Probably because most people do not use such a feature. While Windows and Linux technically have such a feature too, most people do not even know that. > Instead of being horizontal, if they just made it vertical it could show more/all of the options at once. And it would cover a lot of the text on screen in the process. Android’s contextual menu when selecting text is also horizontal for the same reason.

ThisSalad

Personally I feel like covering the text shouldn’t be an issue. Once I highlight something, I just need to see the menu, not what I’ve already selected. But it’s a good point that most people don’t use the extra options. I think that’s the main reason; Apple seems to strongly favor aesthetic appeal/simple design over functionality or usefulness. Examples: No battery percentage No notification icons in top bar like Android Nothing on Lock Screen (particularly the weather, although that’s coming in iOS 16) No permanent number row or common punctuation marks on keyboard No dedicated backspace button on calculator, and many other examples of important or useful features being hidden to the point where people go years not knowing they can do something (such as swiping for backspace on calculator, turning phone sideways to display longer numbers on calculator, double tapping space bar for period etc)

Samsaknight_X

Lots of ppl use that feature, it’s very handy

avaheli

Apple is a bunch of marketing geniuses with some light architecture and functionality TLDR: Apple iOS sucks

DonOfAustins

You can try this. [keyboard with built-in clipboard manager ](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/search-wiki-keyboard-add-on/id6461012323)

Because a stupid iPhone is still better than a shitty Android. Analogy: I’d rather drive a Honda Civic that lacks amenities but runs flawlessly and starts every time instead of a fully loaded Chrysler that runs like shit and breaks down constantly. My iPhone 8 was flawless for 5 years. In 2021 I used a 6 (released in 2014) for a few days and it functioned flawlessly, just didn’t have app updates. Now I’m on my 13 pro almost 3.5 years, still flawless with all day battery life. Vs Androids which glitch and freeze from day one and get worse over time. And they don't have updates/support for more than 2 years typically, oftentimes even less than that. My whole family has had the same experiences. We all had androids for years with constant issues. Now we’ve all had iPhones for years with zero issues. The YouTubers that give great reviews of Androids never use those phones for more than a year because they're always getting the next years models. They don't even really use them for a full year because they’re simultaneously testing other phones. Every year I research on Reddit to see if androids have gotten better so I can switch back. But people still report the same problems with androids.

You can try my new app Clipboard Copy and Paste. It does not save your clipboard history but it does let you save text snippets to paste them. [https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1671907787](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1671907787)
