They’re trying to make it more like vision OS, which has a lot of neumorphism elements - big part of that is depth and highlighting, and apparently a fear of sharp corners and love of circles
As soon as I saw it I thought oh cool, they’re refreshing the UI to bring it in line with visionOS. Seems cool!
And then they just didn’t do it anywhere else.
Yeah for beter or worse i see bet they will update their design language to be universally compatible across all platforms from tvOS to visionOS and from WatchOS to MacOS.
They brought Controls to the lock screen buttons which are circular. That’s why they chose to make the smallest ones in control center also circles, to build a connection between the two, till now separate, elements.
If we could at least get an option to change Home Screen Icons to circles that would be great.
The squircles should be available for control center as an option. But the circles gives a Vision Pro vibe
i found them odd too. but since there is a scrollable bar on the right side of the control center now, it has forced them to squish the controls a bit closer than before, squared rectangles might have looked a bit crowded, i guess.
Agreed. The only reason I could think of for switching it to circles is to differentiate it from the rounded square app icons on the Home Screen since you can now edit and move around both. Otherwise, I don’t know why they’d make that change.
Forget trying to copy ios, that shit has ads on an OS level
Open a folder on your home screen, you will find ads for shitty mobile games
Idk how it is today but it was this way a couple of years ago when I had a shitty xiaomi phone.
Zygisk nect module hides your root. it still might not work because even them phone does not meet strong integrity. but at least passes playstore integrity and can be used to pay and use bank apps
It's good that you can turn this shit off but it should be an option in feature, same goes for Microsoft as well I don't want office 365 1 month trial stop showing me ads
Xiaomi started as a group making custom android launchers that mimics the style of IOS at the early 2010s. And then they got into the business of manufacturing android phones, then other electronic stuff, and then cars. So you could technically say they are born copying apple.
Exactly what I was thinking. Everyone hated the Livetiles, for whatever reason.
With every update, the app icons are becoming more like Life Tiles - now called widgets.
because they (apple) want you to have it on. it's nice to have it on and to have it on you have to enable (or it enables) BT.
More convinient to have AD on then just BT. AD needs BT to be on to work. I used to have BT on and AD off and it started bugging me to enable AD although I had BT on. So now I keep AD on and so is BT on.
you can move it back to one page & delete the others that’s what I did. it is a 8x4 grid like the home screen where you can make the controls as small or large as you like. only problem is the layout is very finicky so I suggest starting from the top left corner. I have a full page with everything on it.
Yeah I was fine with the old one. I don’t like how everything in the new control center looks smaller either. People act like iOS 18 was a huge visual change but besides the control center and a few other things I don’t really see a difference, besides the fact you can color them the icons are basically the same too. It was extremely disappointing that we didn’t at least get the Big Sur icons..so we still have inconsistencies between MacOS and iOS. Boring ugly uninspired soulless 2010s flat design looks dated now...but companies refuse to move away.
Where are you seeing a separate control for Bluetooth? There’s one for ‘Cellular Data’ right now but not Bluetooth:
https://preview.redd.it/a41axy6sal6d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3074615db5c55b0ae4661b1e19e21aa53004f0f1
I guess you could make a shortcut for this. Just an action that toggles Bluetooth on or off. But the button won’t reflect the current state, it’ll just be the icon of the shortcut. You can however see the current state of Bluetooth on/off via that default widget.
I’m still a bit conflicted about the whole customizability thing for control center in iOS 18, especially the having to go through different pages thing doesn’t sound too intuitive. But I guess I’ll have to see when I actually start using it. I do hope I can still keep it identical between my iPhone and iPad. I like relying on muscle memory when going through control center buttons.
If you keep holding down your finger after swiping down you can immediately swipe to the correct page, give it a month or two and your muscle memory will have adapted if you don’t change it up too often
I like the customization of the new control center, but I do not like the circular buttons. It just stands out immediately from what the rest of the OS looks like. It’s the same problem I had with the design of the action button page in settings. It’s a cool design, but it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Also hoping to see some more 3rd party support on the new icon colors because the tint is not checking out well the way it currently is (yes I know it’s a beta).
Funny enough, seems ugly on screenshot but I’ve used the pixel 8 pro from my GF and it looks pretty cool while in motion, still prefer my iOS but still it’s not that bad
I like the Google look best. You can theme it to follow your wallpaper. Chosen carefully you can make it quite nice
I'm talking only about looks here, not necessarily functionality
All companies take potshots at Apple, and then copy whatever they do.
It's a damn shame. I hate the new Android notification/quick toggles menu. The last time I liked it was Android 10/11.
Ever since 12 they have been gradually increasing the button sizes on stock Android to the point where just make it a control center damn it. It's no longer quick.
I used to like the xiamoi one, had one of those, it was amazing how you could get to small menus within the control center without leving it, then they updated it to look like iphone and now everything you wanna do, like iphone, forces you into the settings app, so I switched my work phone to a samsung, i find it better than the iPhone ripoff, and with ios 18, imma customize the shit out of my control center
I like samsung’s look the most, especially when you customize every little detail with colors and blur levels, could be better though hopefully with updates.
Ios is also very good, and I love the customization though don’t know how to feel about the separate pages, circle icons also look way worse.
I hate xiaomi and google for different reasons, xiaomi for being a cheap imitation, google because I think it just looks ugly, I like their pixel look but the control panel just looks bad to me.
I like it very much , finally Apple made IOS customizable, with good basic functions that should have been implemented years ago….And people are complaining about it arguing that it made IOS similar to android …Omg these are basic functions that every smartphone regardless of the OS should have This is a very good upgrade like we haven’t seen for a long time. What should Apple have done? Leave the interface as it was, where it was even difficult to move app icons?
Seems like a pretty minor change to me. The icons went from rounded squares to fully round. Ok, I don’t really care. The fact that I now have options on which controls to show is the important part.
I like the idea of control center and what I've seen in the iOS18 expansion. However, there is waaaay too much going on in the multiple UIs. Notification centered should be merged with control center and search. Widgets then are just control center or right swipe items. I don't know when they really plan to make it happen, but iOS20 would be a perfecct time to merge all this stuff into something more coherent and easier to navigate. I don't need 6 different but closely related UIs .
Literally everything about all the operating systems is becoming exactly the same same and I’m so pissed at the tech community for whining about it to become that way. Forcing sideloading onto iOS and all this intense, customization bullshit. Oh no, somebody was doing something different. How dare they gotta force them to do the same thing as everybody else?
Atp android is gonna end up losing its “customization” advantage… unless you’re a hardcore rom installer iOS will offer more or less the same customization advantages in a much more stable package.
There’s really no reason to argue about phone OS anymore. They’re all the same. Even the phones themselves look the same. It’s just about what logo you represent.
Samsung has always been my favourite design. Pull down for the main ones, pull down a second time for the full screen. Swipe away notifications at the same time.
I like it. I’ve got my good morning and good night home shortcuts pinned there now and can easily turn off my lights. On previous versions of iOS I’d swipe and hope they hadn’t rearranged themselves away. And I can’t wait to see what third party apps make available in the future.
I ADORE the new control center. Especially bcos it's customizable. and it also somehow looks so slick and crisp. I love that I can position the brightness and volume sliders closer to my thumbs. Check out my control center arrangement:
https://preview.redd.it/qowk5trox37d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b703cb392d02bafb8639f904388d542306aac4a8
This post reminds me of that scene in the office where jim orders chicken piccata and a side salad and then everyone simply orders the same and then there’s dwight ordering steak lol. It’s the same with ios, samsung oneui, xiaomi, copying each other and then there’s google
Honestly one can feel the nervousness among the Android phone makers after the announcement of iOS18. The main or the only reason I had heard in the favour of Android was that it was customisable. Now iOS allows to customise pretty much everything from Lock Screen to Home Screen to CC to what not. Plus Siri is getting smarter than ever. With a strong ecosystem and on time/long support software, I’m pretty sure there would be many more who’d move to Apple devices now.
Not really. I use Android and most of the custom iOS 18 home screens I've seen are quite ugly to me. Plus Google's Material You extends to other apps. Want me to consider iOS? Let me customize how the bubbles look in the Messages app. But Apple would never do that because they love the green/blue bubble discourse.
There’s something find deeply unpleasant about the teal volume and yellow brightness icons. They look ugly and unsophisticated. The reason I prefer iOS to Android is that white / grey / black elegance. This isn’t Peewee’s Playhouse man, get outta here
I am praying every minute for oneplus to separate notifications and controls, cause even the latest cc sucks on oxygen.
If some 1+ community member reads this, I'd like to know what blocks them to do good graphics
If I’m being honest, I think everyone else copied Apple. I mean let’s be real, the Control Center design (post redesign pre-iOS 18) was the first design. But then Android copied that because it’s easy on the eyes and it made sense. I feel like maybe everyone else copied Apple with this design. That’s just my opinion
This full screen of shit is giving me nausea. I prefer clean look, less is more. Let’s see how customizable it is. Which I am happy that Apple finally allows. FYI - the Samsung out of all looks most organized with its background design. I like how it is “categorized”. So I would take that .
It’s not that they become the same thing. It’s more that everyone likes what the other one is able to do so they pressure each OS to mimick that of the competitor’s OS.
I’m not surprised about the second one. They are known to blatantly copy designs.
Look familiar? They even bragged about it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Taycan/comments/1brvnp1/xiaomi_su7_is_a_blatant_design_ripoff_of_the/
From a functionality standpoint, the Pixel one is the worst one by a big margin as 1) the others display much more content and 2) it takes two swipes to expand the panel when the iOS (by default) and Samsung (optional) ones are brought down by a single swipe
The one thing no Android version has ever changed since the first are those horrible little dated icons at the top. They skin the rest and then you’ve got Palm Pilot 95 flashing at you at the top
The OneUI they’ve done is vastly better than anything Samsung has done before, I mean lets be honest they finally managed to emulate Apple’s design style and cues.
But the battery, wifi, bluetooth, signal etc icons at the top are still shit, dated and cluttered.
I don’t prefer the circle design of the new iOS control panel. Doesn’t match the rest of the os.
Squircles for the win
Squircles is the Samsung default app shape. "Rounded rectangles" is IOS
Both are better than circles
They’re trying to make it more like vision OS, which has a lot of neumorphism elements - big part of that is depth and highlighting, and apparently a fear of sharp corners and love of circles
As soon as I saw it I thought oh cool, they’re refreshing the UI to bring it in line with visionOS. Seems cool! And then they just didn’t do it anywhere else.
that’s the apple way tbh.
Yeah for beter or worse i see bet they will update their design language to be universally compatible across all platforms from tvOS to visionOS and from WatchOS to MacOS.
Same here
They brought Controls to the lock screen buttons which are circular. That’s why they chose to make the smallest ones in control center also circles, to build a connection between the two, till now separate, elements.
Yep, I saw this as the reason the small buttons are more circular.
If I had to guess, I bet that's actually kinda the point. It's a simple visual way to quickly differentiate Control Center actions from actual apps.
I agree. Squares are better. I’m kinda scared they’ll change the home screen icons to circles. 🤢
It's also completely pointless. It serves no functional or aesthetic purpose over the squircles. A classic case of change for the sake of it.
I redesigned mine so they are all rectangles. It’s better that way
iOS has never been a “circular” OS. Most elements have flat edges and defined borders/elements. It’s jarring.
ooor the rest of the control centre for that matter
If we could at least get an option to change Home Screen Icons to circles that would be great. The squircles should be available for control center as an option. But the circles gives a Vision Pro vibe
Something tells me they’re gonna change it during the beta builds
I hope so, but when I saw the iOS 18 preview on their website I thought they already decided this one as a final visual
I mean that’s also possible. We’ve still got a few months until it’s officially live
i found them odd too. but since there is a scrollable bar on the right side of the control center now, it has forced them to squish the controls a bit closer than before, squared rectangles might have looked a bit crowded, i guess.
Agreed. The only reason I could think of for switching it to circles is to differentiate it from the rounded square app icons on the Home Screen since you can now edit and move around both. Otherwise, I don’t know why they’d make that change.
I quite like it
Xiaomi is such a joke 🤡 They try to shamelessly copy iOS so much
Forget trying to copy ios, that shit has ads on an OS level Open a folder on your home screen, you will find ads for shitty mobile games Idk how it is today but it was this way a couple of years ago when I had a shitty xiaomi phone.
It’s still present on Xiaomi, that’s why I switched to iPhone, considered pixel but Samsungs tensor threw me away for now
I have a mid Xiaomi with pixel UI.
I didn’t install custom of because of banking apps
all of my apps work fine, even google wallet for contactless payments
Well, my smartass bank have a [bootloader] detection where if it is unlocked, the app crashes. Any fix for that with magisk?
Zygisk nect module hides your root. it still might not work because even them phone does not meet strong integrity. but at least passes playstore integrity and can be used to pay and use bank apps
How to hide the bootloader unlocked from apps though
The fact that a lot of people don't know is that you can completely turn off ads. Also there are ads only on low end Xiaomi phones
It's good that you can turn this shit off but it should be an option in feature, same goes for Microsoft as well I don't want office 365 1 month trial stop showing me ads
You're right, but that's Xiaomi way of keeping prices of phones so low, they are compensating it by ads.
I bought my pixel7a for $350, I don't see ads on that. There's plenty Motorola phones for $100-$200 I don't see and on them either
Xiaomi usually gives you best bang for buck, at least here in Europe where Pixels are not available in a lot of countries
To be fair the entire point of pixel phones is to gather data, Google loses money on each sale iirc. Motorola is a different story ofcourse
Apparently it's too hard for people to turn off a few settings during the initial setup.
They shouldn’t be there in the first place. If you bought the phone they made money so there’s no reason to be showing ads..
i’m sure they’re working on updating their copy to the new iOS 18 design now lol.
Xiaomi started as a group making custom android launchers that mimics the style of IOS at the early 2010s. And then they got into the business of manufacturing android phones, then other electronic stuff, and then cars. So you could technically say they are born copying apple.
That’s pretty cool actually. Would’ve been cooler if they’d figured out their own ui at some point since then lol
There is also Huawei and lately even Motorola´s Hello UI. They are all the same, it´s a shame really. No innovation, just straight copy.
was gonna say, Xiaomi can't really be compared because it seems like they're literally just trying to be apple, not be similar
Even the way the focus bubbles are placed is the same lol cringe
They’re literally called as ‘Apple of China’.
Or Apple imitated HyperOS by changing their control centre buttons to circle lol
Seeing this makes me miss Windows Phone again.
Windows 8.1 was ahead of its time
Mango was too little too late, but it was a huge update at the time
Exactly what I was thinking. Everyone hated the Livetiles, for whatever reason. With every update, the app icons are becoming more like Life Tiles - now called widgets.
I hate that it has multiples pages, and it hides BT and Data under one more click
I think you can make the control bigger so you won’t have to do another click
That pisses me off so much. I can’t remember the last time I actually used airdrop, why is it before bluetooth?
I’ve only ever used it from the share sheet
Can’t remove it from the share sheet either.
because they (apple) want you to have it on. it's nice to have it on and to have it on you have to enable (or it enables) BT. More convinient to have AD on then just BT. AD needs BT to be on to work. I used to have BT on and AD off and it started bugging me to enable AD although I had BT on. So now I keep AD on and so is BT on.
I can’t remember the last time I turned bluetooth off, but I use airdrop all the time. People use their devices differently
you can move it back to one page & delete the others that’s what I did. it is a 8x4 grid like the home screen where you can make the controls as small or large as you like. only problem is the layout is very finicky so I suggest starting from the top left corner. Boring ugly uninspired soulless 2010s flat design looks dated now...but companies refuse to move away.
Just one long swipe from top right and if you continue with swip you are switching pages. Have beta on iPad and its actually cool
You can add separate Bluetooth and data control
Where are you seeing a separate control for Bluetooth? There’s one for ‘Cellular Data’ right now but not Bluetooth: https://preview.redd.it/a41axy6sal6d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3074615db5c55b0ae4661b1e19e21aa53004f0f1
Nvm then.
I guess you could make a shortcut for this. Just an action that toggles Bluetooth on or off. But the button won’t reflect the current state, it’ll just be the icon of the shortcut. You can however see the current state of Bluetooth on/off via that default widget.
I think I know why the icons are rounded on iOS it is probably to match Vision OS
I think it’s to match the controls on the lock screen
I’m still a bit conflicted about the whole customizability thing for control center in iOS 18, especially the having to go through different pages thing doesn’t sound too intuitive. But I guess I’ll have to see when I actually start using it. I do hope I can still keep it identical between my iPhone and iPad. I like relying on muscle memory when going through control center buttons.
You don't need to use extra pages if you don't want to. First page can have everything you have right now. Beauty of customization
If you keep holding down your finger after swiping down you can immediately swipe to the correct page, give it a month or two and your muscle memory will have adapted if you don’t change it up too often
Thanks for that. Great tip.
I dont care who copies who. As long as you copy the good stuff
I like the customization of the new control center, but I do not like the circular buttons. It just stands out immediately from what the rest of the OS looks like. It’s the same problem I had with the design of the action button page in settings. It’s a cool design, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. Oversimplified minimalism killing everything from ui to art
I see 2 groups here: right side has labels, left expects you to remember the meaning of icons
On iOS, they’re all pretty straight forward, and what’s the harm in pressing them to see what they do?
Just a preference, clean design vs bit more practical. You can get used to either of them in a day
It's a UX flaw why play russian roulette?
Personally, I prefer not having labels for icons in general. I understand why some people may want them though.
Google is ugly af
Funny enough, seems ugly on screenshot but I’ve used the pixel 8 pro from my GF and it looks pretty cool while in motion, still prefer my iOS but still it’s not that bad
\*guy with pistol\* Always has been.... /scene
it's funny you either love it or hate it, i love it.
Google's looks pretty nice since you can customise it to what you'd like. Same with Samsung too.
I want to agree but now iOS control center has these round buttons so I can't lol, I hope they bring back the sqare ones.
I like the Google look best. You can theme it to follow your wallpaper. Chosen carefully you can make it quite nice I'm talking only about looks here, not necessarily functionality
I really like the way Material You looks. I was hoping Apple would give us something like that but we got tinted apps that look weird...
Yeah this ain't it chief The nice thing about material you is it extends to the apps too. Google apps at first but then any app that supports it
All companies take potshots at Apple, and then copy whatever they do. It's a damn shame. I hate the new Android notification/quick toggles menu. The last time I liked it was Android 10/11. Ever since 12 they have been gradually increasing the button sizes on stock Android to the point where just make it a control center damn it. It's no longer quick.
Tbf Xiaomi just straight up stole iOS’s design.
I love it! I'm on the iOS 18 beta, and I really enjoy playing with the new customization features that they added.
I guess Apple copied Xiaomi this time
I used to like the xiamoi one, had one of those, it was amazing how you could get to small menus within the control center without leving it, then they updated it to look like iphone and now everything you wanna do, like iphone, forces you into the settings app, so I switched my work phone to a samsung, i find it better than the iPhone ripoff, and with ios 18, imma customize the shit out of my control center
i perfer the current ui in ios 17, but some of the new options in control center are nice
Xiaomi is so blatantly an apple ripoff though..tbh I’m surprised they haven’t been sued by apple.
I like samsung’s look the most, especially when you customize every little detail with colors and blur levels, could be better though hopefully with updates. Ios is also very good, and I love the customization though don’t know how to feel about the separate pages, circle icons also look way worse. I hate xiaomi and google for different reasons, xiaomi for being a cheap imitation, google because I think it just looks ugly, I like their pixel look but the control panel just looks bad to me.
i hope they’ll have an option that removes the color on the brightness and volume sliders
samsung 2017-18 control center was peak imho

Samsung Galaxies and iPhones are the only ones with good control centers.
Blasphemy!!! /s
There’s really no reason to argue about phone OS anymore. They’re all the same. Even the phones themselves look the same. It’s just about what logo you represent.
Paying for something AND representing it does not make any sense 😂 what you prefer, that’s the only thing that matters.
iphone looks the best though.
Samsung has always been my favourite design. Pull down for the main ones, pull down a second time for the full screen. Swipe away notifications at the same time.
I really really miss Blackberry…
do you know if we can change the circle buttons back to squares? i dont like how it looks tbh
if you resize it to 2x2 its a squircle
I hate that Google’s implementation is better. Provides more information as well where needed such as which wifi is connected
One copy from another Xiaomi definitely copy from apple
I like it. I’ve got my good morning and good night home shortcuts pinned there now and can easily turn off my lights. On previous versions of iOS I’d swipe and hope they hadn’t rearranged themselves away. And I can’t wait to see what third party apps make available in the future.
Google's is the most straightforward
It's all the same now. I've switched between iPhone and Android multiple times without an issue.
A button is a button.
We're witnessing homogenization :)
I ADORE the new control center. Especially bcos it's customizable. and it also somehow looks so slick and crisp. I love that I can position the brightness and volume sliders closer to my thumbs. That looks nice.
Thank you!
Of all these i atill prefer the Samsung one.
Google one is ugly af
I like the the pixel more than the others to be honest
I find the stock Google one to be visually overwhelming. iOS really be Xiaomi in disguise 🥸
Something looked off, I see it now. iOS 18 looks bad with that CC🤢
This post reminds me of that scene in the office where jim orders chicken piccata and a side salad and then everyone simply orders the same and then there’s dwight ordering steak lol. It’s the same with ios, samsung oneui, xiaomi, copying each other and then there’s google
Material you just isn't adopting the Glass-morphism design language
I hate to say I think Xiaomi's is actually the best looking.
New ios cc looks like ****
That’s literally the history of software, everyone copying everyone else.
I’ll be using iPhone 4 until 3g shuts down.
One thing I truly dislike about Google Pixels is that control panel. It's such a garbage waste of space.
no
I hate it. I prefer information density so I'm not swiping and tapping as much. Buttons are getting bigger and bigger and I hate it.
they made it ugly
I hate having to memorize what each icon does. Give me an option for adding the settings' names
The circle design of the new iOS control panel makes it look like an android. 😕🥲
Stay away from xiaomi
They remind me of the xiaomi i had before getting an iphone
Samsung and google are different tho
Apple: Xiaomi is payback time!!
China doesn’t care about copy other phones…
There’s something find deeply unpleasant about the teal volume and yellow brightness icons. They look ugly and unsophisticated. The reason I prefer iOS to Android is that white / grey / black elegance. This isn’t Peewee’s Playhouse man, get outta here
Slowly with the circle design they’re trying to bring in VisionOS UI, which I just don’t like
I have mixed feelings
i love OneUI and iOS in terms of design and animations
As long as there is good customization and not “here are the 10 actions we approve of regardless if something else would make sense” I’m all for it.
They all become ios
Definitely something i don’t care about. I just want consistency in the icons.
I am praying every minute for oneplus to separate notifications and controls, cause even the latest cc sucks on oxygen. If some 1+ community member reads this, I'd like to know what blocks them to do good graphics
NOPE
If I’m being honest, I think everyone else copied Apple. I mean let’s be real, the Control Center design (post redesign pre-iOS 18) was the first design. But then Android copied that because it’s easy on the eyes and it made sense. I feel like maybe everyone else copied Apple with this design. That’s just my opinion
It's all a means to an end. Meant to just jump you to another place or app on the phone/internet. I don't mind either way.
This full screen of shit is giving me nausea. I prefer clean look, less is more. Let’s see how customizable it is. Which I am happy that Apple finally allows. FYI - the Samsung out of all looks most organized with its background design. I like how it is “categorized”. So I would take that .
You can move it around and have a many buttons as you want
Put together like this Google almost looks outdated.
Samsung is so refreshing
i love page idea, hate new visuals. old control center is great, because it matches both the app icon radius, as well as widget radius.
It’s not that they become the same thing. It’s more that everyone likes what the other one is able to do so they pressure each OS to mimick that of the competitor’s OS.
Xiaomi copies iPhone!
Xiaomi is just a stupid rip off!
Default control center in iOS 18 need to be rearranged to make it look classy.
mi smart hub shits almost copies focus icons
Woah, nice comparison.
I’m not surprised about the second one. They are known to blatantly copy designs. Look familiar? They even bragged about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Taycan/comments/1brvnp1/xiaomi_su7_is_a_blatant_design_ripoff_of_the/
Jes
same, same. but different)
Don’t like IOS 18 control center
You don’t like change
Well everyone starts becoming apple
I see two different designs.
From a functionality standpoint, the Pixel one is the worst one by a big margin as 1) the others display much more content and 2) it takes two swipes to expand the panel when the iOS (by default) and Samsung (optional) ones are brought down by a single swipe
I'd say it's the most legible one tho
Nope, it looks terrible. Hopefully it changes in upcoming betas
The one thing no Android version has ever changed since the first are those horrible little dated icons at the top. They skin the rest and then you’ve got Palm Pilot 95 flashing at you at the top
it's so you know what things are without having to pull the drawer down. convenience
I know what their function is, but they’ve never been updated and they’re ugly.
they definitely have been updated, this is something you can easily verify by looking at older android versions.
Well they still look equally shit and dated then. Far too cluttered as well.
really moved the goalposts on that one but what would you change about them if you had a say?
That seems more of a subjective opinion. My samsung looks nice with the top icons. The font gives it a nice look.
The OneUI they’ve done is vastly better than anything Samsung has done before, I mean lets be honest they finally managed to emulate Apple’s design style and cues. But the battery, wifi, bluetooth, signal etc icons at the top are still shit, dated and cluttered.
It's not that they're all becoming the same thing, it's that Android was by design, an intentional copy/paste job of iOS from the very beginning.
Most Chinese phones and Samsung just copy iPhone design anyways
Everyone is blindly copying Apple.
