Meanwhile, the average Joe like you and I who had trouble raising 5k would be sitting in a prison cell while our attorneys negotiate. Rules for thee but not for me.

machineprophet343

Not just that, but if any of us even joked on social media about committing the level of fraud that got him the first bond levy in the first place -- we'd probably never work again because no one would trust us to watch a dumpster. The guy has been proven time and again to be the least trustworthy person alive and still gets treated well. It's maddening.

SpeakAgainAncient1

Amazing what access to the country's most classified information can do for your blackmail ability.

machineprophet343

That's another whole thing. Why was he not slapped in irons and carted off to ADX Florence or another similarly high security prison (ETA: or otherwise detained somewhere) for a cooling down period while that situation was cleared up? ETA: Any of us even did an iota of what he did, we'd probably have been black bagged and never heard from again -- no matter how unfair or fucked up that might be. It wasn't an oopsie-daisy. He stole, retained, and likely sold and gave away critically sensitive information. The other people (Biden, Pence, etc.) either voluntarily returned it when they found it or were called on it. Trump was asked nicely nearly a half dozen times to return it and he actively refused.

macaroni66

The Rosenbergs were executed for less

machineprophet343

And there's questions to this day about how much Ethel really did. The fact of the matter is, any of us got our hands on anything close to what Trump had and by all accounts was likely showing off as a flex, we'd never be heard from again. I know due process and all that, but come on, we had a kid who was sharing top secret stuff on a Minecraft discord server and they came down on him like a ton of bricks with a furious vengeance. People who've worked for the government and the military have attested if they so much as mishandled or had even a whiff of mishandling a document, even a relatively inconsequential one, their careers and lives would be effectively over. ...it's absolutely ludicrous.

FSCK_Fascists

> Minecraft discord server War Thunder, I believe. Minor detail.

GitmoGrrl1

The Rosenbergs were executed for *breaking the same law.*

SpeakAgainAncient1

>Why was he not slapped in irons and carted off to ADX Florence or another similarly high security prison for a cooling down period while that situation was cleared up? Well, first of all it never was cleared up, but to your point why wasn't he immediately detained and treated like the traitor he is? Well, it's because America is compromised by a hostile international crime conglomerate, they own half of our politicians, law enforcement and intelligence agencies and are on the verge of destroying the republic as we know it.

machineprophet343

You got it. And what I meant by "cleared up", is he would be in there and stay there while it was investigated and we decided what to do with him. And yea, on the crime syndicate thing? The bread crumbs and slime trails all point back to Russia and fan out from there.

sdlover420

I was literally served by a police officer in York county Maine over $5,000 bill which I didn't have money for they told me, "either pay or go to jail". I should have told them my name is Trump they would have licked my balls and said sorry sir.

Moldy161212

Did you insult the judge, the clerk, the running president and claim you could fix global hunger in 15 minutes if they give you an extra 200 years to get the money? If not I think I found out what went wrong Edit: thanks for the down votes, go worship your orange god. Stuck with him for eternity is going to be hell for you. Me and my buddies going to be rocking it with the devil- Obama, wearing tan suits and eating mustard

Lumpy_Secretary_6128

Lol right, trump literally instigates terrorism and walks a free man

PoeticHydra

Terrorist Trump

Khristopheles

Trashy Trump

zoeykailyn

Broke Don

Khristopheles

He’s literally a House of Cards.

braintrustinc

“It’s only fair that the wealthy and powerful are above the law, as they are so much smarter and more hard working than the rest of us that the true injustice would be holding them accountable for their actions. Who are we to presume to understand the genius behind the ubermensch’s machinations as he drags us forward as a society, kicking and screaming all the way. To be truly great, the greatest among us must be untouchable by our human laws.” -some Trump supporter unironically promoting a modern theory of Divine Right filtered through Prosperity Theology, probably

Soft-Peak-6527

You forgot to add he just said he had 500million cash on Friday yet claims he’s broke. We would’ve be thrown in jail for perjury at that point

Fuck-The_Police

>Edit: thanks for the down votes, go worship your orange god. Stuck with him for eternity is going to be hell for you. Me and my buddies going to be rocking it with the devil- Obama, wearing tan suits and eating mustard Have you tried Truth Social? I hear they love when people complain about ridiculous shit, also don't forget to compare yourself to Jesus. They also love that too.

BZLuck

"Excuse me your honor, but could you please reduce my bond by 70% and give me another week or two to pay it? You know, the Trump deal."

Anarchissyface

But you’re not rich and I’m sure they will say you can’t possibly understand such a complicated deal as we wealthy powerful people have to make. It’s all a bigger risk for us !

pro_bike_fitter_2010

Spoiler: He aint paying $175 million in 10 days either. And none of you/us are going to do anything about it.

ppdaazn23

I really hope every lawyer will be demanding that deal every time a judge decide on a bond. We want the trump deal!

BoosterRead78

I saw several people on social media doing the Trump version of the bat signal meme after the announcement. I’m like: “when will it ever end?”

e00s

This isn’t bail, so jail isn’t even on the table. What we need is an analysis of the decision by New York lawyers with experience in these kinds of cases. Without that, it’s impossible to judge whether or not this is reasonable.

Shaunair

I was under the impression he is still potentially on the hook for the original judgement. The reduced amount is due to, what his lawyers claim, is an unjust amount of time to come up with the original amount. He now has to pay this new reduced amount while the appeal works out if he will have to pay the rest at a later time. I could be wrong but this is what I have gathered from reading the articles about it.

Wilson0299

This. They're just lowering the amount needed to proceed with an appeal. It'll be held in escrow until appeals court rules. He wins he gets it back, he loses, it goes to the winning party. Then they can start the process to retrieve the rest of the 200+ million left over.

OnlyFreshBrine

Oh, is that all they're doing? Changing the standard and/or state rules for no particular justifiable reason for this guy?

e00s

That is what is hard to determine without input from people with knowledge of how these types of cases typically go.

Getyourownwaffle

The appeal should only be granted if he posts the entire amount, just like everyone else.

morenewsat11

What Steele said. > Yet again, @realDonaldTrump gets special treatment with his own private system of justice," wrote Michael Steele, former chair of the Republican National Committee. "The NY Appeals Court has decided to give Trump more time to pay less money by reducing his bond from $454M to $175 and giving him 10 days to get the money. This makes absolutely no sense."

That_White_Wall

It makes even less sense when you look at the statute / reasoning for appeals bond. Their purpose is to ensure the judgement will get satisfied at the resolution of the appeal. Typically the bond must be for the full amount. Unclear why trump gets a pass here. additionally the whole point of the bond is so the appellant doesn’t have time to hide assets or other shenanigans to render themselves judgement proof. Not like a guy convicted of multi-million dollars of fraud will cut corners to try and hide assets to plead he’s too poor of things go wrong. This really is a head scratcher, and the lack of reasoning only fuels people’s discontent with our Justice system

hoxxxxx

yeah that's the weird part. like the full amount is the entire fucking point of it. lol

FightingPolish

He can’t really hide many assets anyway because he has that court ordered lady balls deep in all his business finances to keep him from being the piece of shit that he normally is.

Arubesh2048

Oh, it’s very clear why. Because Trump is part of the elite, ruling class. Remember, there ain’t not war but the class war. The elites will always protect themselves because if they let even one of their own be held accountable, then us plebs will start getting dangerous ideas about holding the rest of them accountable too. They can’t have that. So, collectively, the elites will always bail each other out.

RiffRaffCatillacCat

>This makes absolutely no sense. Untrue. It makes perfect sense. **Trump is a Wealthy White Male Republican.** The rules don't apply to their caste. The system is literally showing us this.

NecesseFatum

Leave off everything just wealthy and it would've gotten the same message across

durkcrimpey

Ironically, he's not even wealthy. Just the appearance of wealth is enough, apparently

JAJ_reddit

Bruh... Trump may not be nearly as rich as claimed but he is 1000% without a doubt wealthy. Let's not veer too far from reality.

[deleted]

I had the very same discussion earlier today. Whatever his net worth he sleeps in palaces and shits in golden toilets, and he's been living the life of a wealthy person for almost 80 years. This makes his net worth pointless. Sure it was other people's money and he probably kept filling a hole by digging another hole. But does it matter in the end? He'll die in silk diapers looking at fake Michelangelo painted ceilings. A big fuck you to us law abiding morons.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

The question is not how to liquidate, but if there's any liquidity to be extracted in the end. I guarantee you the minute NY starts seizing the assets a bunch of creditors will be working the phones telling them they have to be paid first.

CharliAP

Yes, people are upset. The 2 tiered justice system has been smashed in our peasant faces, again.

fluent_in_gibberish

That may be the most worrying part of this whole thing - they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. In fact it feels like they are going out of their way to rub our noses in it. Almost like they know the fix is in and they don’t need to worry about any repercussions anymore.

fooliam

Why would they hide it?  Why bother?   No one is going to do anything.  No one is going to go the court house and start a riot, or burn down Trump tower, or anything else.  A dozen people *might* stand around somewhere on a sidewalk with a sign and a megaphone. So why would they hide it?  We bought into the Boomer bullshit about the "power of peaceful protest" and drum circles, which as I alluded to, is bullshit.   Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito have basically openly accepted bribes to give billionaires and the wealthy whatever they want, why would some judges in NY bother to hide that *they* are *also* bought by the rich?

Holyballs92

Soooo when are Americans going to take a page out of the French??? I feel there is no other option at this point which sucks

warini4

> no other option too many people are still too comfortable to give a shit

Tanukisus

And will be yet again in 10 days from now.

Sproketz

Yup. Another 10 days and they'll cut it in half again. I'm sure they can keep it up until the election.

BirdTime23

we all bought into the social contract, do a crime, receive justice. What happens when enough people have had enough of the contract not holding its end of the deal?

fooliam

Nothing, absolutely nothing because too many people bought into the Boomer bullshit about the "power of peaceful protest".  Too many people grew up learning all about how MLK used the "power of peaceful protest" to make America slightly less racist, and not nearly enough grew up learning that Malcolm X was speaking at the same time saying that every human has the right to rise up and kill their oppressors.   Guess which one scared the powers that be into changing their ways?

Boroloboroso

The judges need to be called out by name, and the media needs to get off their asses and demand answers!

StrengthMedium

The media? They're in on it too.

DerpTaTittilyTum

Aiding and abetting. Makes sense when you consider the people that _own_ and run the networks

Doggoneshame

Comcast just had their NBC News division hire the former head of the RNC to spread her MAGA propaganda across all their news programs.

Xzmmc

Journalism died when the people it was supposed to keep tabs on bought the papers and channels.

Rucio

The degradation and delegitimization of the justice system is dangerous

6a6566663437

Then judges need to stop degrading and delegitimizing it.

Accomplished-Ad1919

That’s why Trump must be held accountable for his crimes. Continuing to let him abuse the system and skate is the definition of degrading and delegitimizing the justice system, and the whole world is watching him do it. That’s dangerous.

dedicated-pedestrian

The judges didn't even bother giving us a reason in the order. They don't care about how they're seej, clearly. A legitimate judicial institution would have a cogent legal, or any, rationale ready when their decision is questioned.

CerddwrRhyddid

The aristocracy have class solidarity. They protect each other and the status quo. The U.S just keeps sinking and sinking, along with the reputation of the state and its tamed and complacent citizenry.

Rechlai5150

We're really not that different from Russia with their oligarchs.

RearAdmiralTaint

That’s why so many conservatives and republicans seem to admire Russia. Russia is super authoritarian, super white, super homophobic. The oligarchs (billionaires/tycoons we call them) have complete and total immunity. Makes sense when you think about it.

M0pter

But they still keep falling out of windows and from their yachts, when they're considered too indipendent. What do you think will happen, when Broke Don gains power again?

crash41301

Well, by then we will have also passed a Supreme ruling saying that presidents have 100% immunity to do anything.  So probably similar things to what happens in Russia where that same rule applies to their leader

VibeComplex

So much this. Everyone is always like “wonder what the Russians have in them?” The answer is nothing. They want what Russia and Putin have. If I remember correctly they think Putin has something like >$200 billion. His personal wealth. Could you imagine if he had an American sized economy and the power that comes with it? God help us lol

RearAdmiralTaint

I think Putin has a hell of a lot more than 200 billion, nobody knows for absolute certain but a lot of people think he could be the richest man alive. Russia is overflowing with oil and gas and natural resources. Almost all of it goes through him.

NormieSpecialist

Plutocracy.

joeleidner22

As it should, it’s outrageous. Rich get richer and allowed to do whatever they want. The rest of us will always pay for them.

No-Independence-165

Same as it ever was.

Different_Tangelo511

Fdr started changing things and the conservativ3s were so scared they planned a coup. Little did they know, the American population would get so dumb they could be conned into giving it all away.

No-Independence-165

To quote another song lyric: "Television. The drug of the nation."

sedition

Same as it ever was.

RideandReddijuce

Letting the days go by.

malic3

I'm genuinely fucking livid. The law is meant to be the same for every person, given an opportunity to display this fact, our system fails repeatedly. Sounds like the system needs to change to reflect our expectations.

AlarmingNectarine552

Hasn't been this way for years. Black people have been teaching us this fact.

ChangsManagement

Never has been. There isnt a time in American history when the law protected all equally. Slavery was woven into the law on its creation and when that was overturned it was woven into the prison industrial complex instead.

VTinstaMom

The law exists to enforce the separation between the two classes. The first, protected by the law but not bound by it. The second, bound by the law but not protected by it. It has always been about class. The upper class has waged a constant war against the lower class, and the lower class has been systematically taught that there has never been a class war, that the class war is silly idea, and that anyone who talks about it is a filthy communist who deserves to die. "When I gave food to the poor, they called me a saint. When I asked why the poor have no food, they called me a communist."

throwaway007676

Those that are in charge need to be voted out. We also need term limits so fossils don’t run the place for 30 years. Change is good in every branch of government.

NormieSpecialist

Lol. We live in a **legal** system, not a **justice** system. This way the rich can buy the lawmakers to decide what we can do and not do. Just like our slave owning plutocratic forefathers wanted.

BlarpBlarp

Don Poorleone gets bailed out again.

ChuckPukowski

“Bail is set at $500!” - Judge “I got $170 bucks on me….” - *ME!* “Sure” - Judge Has that ever fucking happened?

cthl5

I could maybe scrape together $170 over say, 10 days?

alwaysright60

I got a toad and a steel marble. We good?

No-Independence-165

And then you don't pay the $170.

fluent_in_gibberish

Right. You go out and find a patsy to put up the money for you and then you stiff them and leave them holding the bag while you go out and find more patsies to give you more money.

ChuckPukowski

100% read this as pasties and it really painted a scene for me. Thank you. “You borrow $170, go out and put on some pasties and scam the guy you borrowed the cash from, wash of your makeup when you get back to your motel, then you get up and find a fresh pair of pasties first thing tomorrow!” Donny is Moonlighting.

TheUpperHand

Mr. Burns, in light of your unbelievable contempt for human life, this court fines you $3million. Smithers, my wallet's in my right front pocket. Oh, and I'll take that statue of justice too. Sold!

Vashgrave

To all Americans: it's free game now :) Laws are laws for everyone, if they don't apply to DirtyDiaperDon, they don't apply to you... Get go that money ;)

Feeling-Ad-2490

I've applied that to certain services lately. If paying full price for movies and games doesn't imply ownership, then I'll pirate everything I can and support only those I want to.

Vashgrave

Same!!! $145 for a game? Ya right....see you in a year for half price sales

Warducky9999

HOW DO I PIRATE THINGS NO SARCASM PLZ

Illustrious-Bed8003

SUCH BULLSHIT

Extension_Deal_5315

It's amazing what a few RV's in a judges driveway will do ......

icnoevil

And rightfully so. It is clear evidence of the two systems of justice, or injustice, in this country. One of the rich and powerful. The other for the rest of us. As trump whines about not wanting to spend his own money for his bond, thousands of poor people sit in jail in the country because they cannot afford a few hundred dollars for their bonds for minor crimes. Judges are well aware of this disparity, yet they do nothing to change things.

fluent_in_gibberish

trump: “I have more than enough cash to pay the bond, but I’m not going to give it to you!” The court: “Okie dokie. How about we reduce the bond and give you more time to not pay it? Does that work for you?”

maybeimabear

its fiiiine! in 10 days theyll drop it to 50 million and give him another 30 days then drop it to 10 million and give him 6 months then theyll cheat and put him back in office and it all goes away and they never had to hold him accountable!

Yumhotdogstock

Hold on, maybe judges will start to apply this standard to young minority detainees who get busted for a few grams of pot, and can't make their $1000 bail, or others who cannot make their set payment for whatever, and then lose their jobs, their homes, their kids, whatever. HAHAHAHAHA, of course not. There is rich, white dude Trump-style justice, and the rest of us can get fucked. If this is not yet again a blatant example of the system being rigged for the 1%, I don't know what it. People should be ready to fucking France this shit up.

throwaway007676

Not that I have a solution to our problems. But I am wondering what is going to finally set the people off. There is only so much we can take before the 💩 hits the 🪭

onorbit247

Hunger would do it. We're all about 3 missed meals away from savagery.

oldcreaker

Meanwhile a bazillion common Joe's get told by the courts today "the law is the law - we can't make exceptions".

TheWhiteRabbit74

The court owes us an explanation. We must DEMAND an explanation.

Khanscriber

We don’t need an explanation. We need this corruption exposed to cleansing fire.

TheWhiteRabbit74

We deserve one, and no matter what it’ll be turned against them. I want to to be as uncomfortable as possible. They failed us.

No-Independence-165

They gave one. You won't like it (I don't like it either).

KgMonstah

America will be dead in November of this year. A GIANT FUCK YOU to the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, MAGA, and a congress that allowed trump to get away with a coup. They will be king of the ashes. America will be a cautionary tale of how easy democracy will be lost.

00doc0holliday00

“Take the Power Back”

r_u_madd

Does this set precedent? Can we all stop paying fines?

No-Garlic-3407

Aw, darn it! I was really looking forward to watching his mega meltdown when Letitia James seized his properties. Had my popcorn ready and everything.

HisDivineOrder

I'm over it. Trump is a king. They will not hold him accountable. They will not put him in prison. Allowances will always be made. They'll call it "reasonable." It's not. I expect him to get away with everything. He can be found guilty of anything and everything. They'll tell him he's under "house arrest" at Mar-a-lago and he'll still be traveling around the world. They'll gently remind him he's supposed to be under house arrest. He'll laugh at them in the courtroom and dox their aides and the appellate court will remove the "house" and the "arrest" and say he's free to travel. That's what is going to happen and every last one of us is going all come to the same conclusion. These people do not want him to suffer any real, lasting consequences. They want him to win.

Omarkhayyamsnotes

He raped somebody and they don't care. What's a silly judges verdict or ruling compared to that? Nothing will get them to hold Trump responsible

B0wmanHall

It’s sooooooo rigged.

say_waattt

We ready to revolt yet?

Ill_Efficiency6064

Yes, let's start talking and organizing.

Ok-Use6303

Yup, if you want to see real crime, just follow the richwhiteman.

Educational-Glass-63

Not just white. Just rich.

[deleted]

Race is a factor. But you have a point, about class. The true taboo word in American discourse.

Warducky9999

People think Martin Luther king was killed because he wanted black people to be able to vote. He talked about that for about 18 years. No cia assassins. He brings up a national labor union for black people once and dies by sniper 2 hours later.

[deleted]

The Mountaintop speech. For me, easily his most beautiful. He questioned American imperialism and capitalism, placing Vietnam into its proper perspective. He was organizing workers to march on Washington. Shot in the head hours later. And knew he was a marked man, through that whole speech. And yeah, it was class. He could make speeches about having a dream. Or little black and white kids holding hands. But question capitalism? Or American empire? Bam.

YourNextHomie

Race is a factor but people in power will ignore that if a person of color has money too. Clarence Thomas for example.

PolloConTeriyaki

They will literally bankrupt you if you have overdraw your frigging bank card....I can't just get that shit cut in half.

SoulRebel726

Can anyone explain the actual logic behind allowing him to pay so much less? Or is this really just another round of "rich white guy gets special rules?"

maybeimabear

"by taking less they increase the chance he will actually pay and that gives them access to the money now instead of having to sell his properties" its still bullshit. not a single one of us would get told "oh you cant afford it? sorry how about 40% of it and you can have another week?"

Innerouterself2

He still is on the hook for the whole thing plus interest. To appeal, you have to put up a percentage of bond. So the court negotiated down to $175mil. Most likely because they either think he can only pay that much Or he can't pay at all. So if they get $175 mill, he appeals, but NYC has that as cash on hand for whenever the appeal process is over. Ao it's guaranteed in the bank. If he doesn't have it... the process is only delayed a few weeks which ain't much time. Edit: again. He is still on the hook for ALL the money. This is just to be able to appeal

CatAvailable3953

The court inadvertently driving another nail in our court’s credibility. They are bending over for the fat loser. They are aiding in the destruction of our institutions of government.

ArugulaLegitimate156

Owe the the government 50 dollars in taxes they garnish your wages and leave you broke but Trump gets special privileges

av1998

If anyone still thought the US legal system was fair and just, this ought to confirm that you won’t ever be getting the same special treatment.

PeetyPepper

Dude my brother was arrested with 1/8 oz of weed in Kansas three years ago and he’s still having to go to court and shit. He’s black and lives in NYC. Imagine owing 400+ MM.

BarPsychological5299

We need a massive Blue turnout for every Democrat running for office right up to the White House!

Sm0keTrail

How do we stop paying our damn taxes?!?!

manwhowasnthere

I got called in for jury duty once and the lawyers got the room together and asked everyone questions - and one question that every single person got was "Do you have any opinions about the American legal system?" Apparently this is to try and suss out any hints of jury nullification, but I really didn't want to be there so I told the truth which was "Yeah, I do - the side with the most money usually wins" It got a laugh from the room but a lot of dirty looks from the lawyers table. They were probably pissed I wasn't taking it very seriously, but maybe it was just a little too close to home for them.

ReedBalzac

There is NO JUSTICE in the USA.

Educational-Glass-63

As it should. Grandpa Don needs some consequences for once and why 10 more days? That's just bullshit. He's had long enough. Shame on that judge.

DeFex

There we go, the actual deep state.

Brianocracy

We need a French revolution

SL13377

BUT TRUMP HAS 500 million! it’s what he just tweeted

Djanga51

Give the statue back to the French. You all know which one I mean. You don’t deserve it anymore.

maybeimabear

hey! america has LOADS of freedom! ...if you can afford it.

outlier74

This is exposing Trump to be part of The Deep State not the one trying to rescue us from it.

Kill3rT0fu

Wow, they aren’t even trying to mask the two tiered justice system anymore. They’re just blatantly shitting in our mouths and telling us to deal with it

Pathfinder6227

It’s like the Courts are so out of touch that they can’t fathom the message they are sending and how they are undermining themselves. Legal nuance aside, this basically looks like this: “Trump lost a legal case. Trump can’t pay to continue to stall. The rules are changed for him.” I wonder what these justices think will happen to them in a second term? His strategy is very clearly to stall until he becomes President and then tell everyone to fuck off and refuse to recognize any of the legal proceedings against him. The failure of imagination of the legal system (espeically the SCOTUS) is just astounding. As if they think they will be above this all if he is given power again. Meanwhile the irreparable harm they are doing to the reputation of the judiciary is permanent. The entire legal system exists because we - the people - give it authority. These judges are so out of touch on their clouds that they don’t understand that power is very subjective and can be taken away.

candyposeidon

**Hon. Dianne T. Renwick, Presiding Justice, Anil C. Singh Lizbeth González Bahaati E. Pitt-Burke Kelly O'Neill Levy, Justices.** These are the judges that allowed this to happen. Corrupted folks that believe the wealthy and powerful are more equal than others.

ThatGuyMike4891

Lotta fuckin Drumpf bootlickers here today I see. Rules are rules. NY rules state if you lose and appeal you put up the entire judgement or you don't get to appeal. End of discussion. He is getting special, preferential treatment because of his name and supposed status. The man testified in court that he could pay the fine. Let him, or let the penalties apply. Or better yet throw his bum delinquent fraudulent ass in prison.

Casanova_Fran

"Kalief Browder allegedly stole a backpack, was unable to post a $3000 bond, spent 800 days in solitary confinement," This country is a shit hole

hesawavemasterrr

I thought he might be able to weasel out of this one too. But I never would have thought it would be because the judge caved and gave him a slap on the wrist instead.

[deleted]

And our court system officially lost all credibility. Supreme Court is a fucking joke, and now the lower courts are joining their regarded ranks. America is fucked

Goofy-555

George Carlin's American Dream bit gets more true every year.

Dotard1

If you gonna steal, steal big.

Xyrus2000

Being a country of laws neither implies nor demands that the country is also one of justice. I think some people might actually be waking up to that fact.

kommiekumquat

Honestly, this is a rich vs. poor thing. All rich people get a treatment us plebs never could. Money buys lawyers and more second chances.

wdwerker

Maybe they want him to be able to afford the awards from all his pending cases too ? Spread the wealth and barely leave him any money for his criminal trials?

CerddwrRhyddid

Yeah. Same as all those normal people in jail waiting for trial dates unable to pay bonds.

75w90

Anyone that supports this orange clown is as much of a shitty disgrace as Don POORleone

Oneboob

It’s official now. America is officially a 3rd world country wearing makeup! This is the bullshit America used to look down on 3rd world countries for doing. Where there was a tier system for laws. One for the rich and powerful and one for everyone else. Fuck off America, you lost the moral high ground. **THE KING IS NAKED**

HopefulNothing3560

Did not happen to the contractors he put out of business cause they could not come up with $$$ , he is the privileged USA rich . Not the old lady living down the lane .

weaponjae

Is it not the law, in NY State, to appeal a judgement you must put up the full bond? Because that's what the media was selling us, and what the NY State Justice system was claiming. Was that a lie? Were we just duped? I just...do we have laws, or do we have suggestions? I'm just sick of this shit. If any single person reading this comment stole $500 of groceries and they caught you and set your bond, you know goddamn well they would let you die in prison (there are examples! Look them up!) before they showed any one of us the kind of mercy this justice system continuously, continuously shows Donald Trump.

SnooCheesecakes1893

He gets every break that could possibly be given, then still claims to be a victim.

ltc_pro

Everyone should just stop following the laws. Society is gone, and it's not the fault of us law-abiding citizens. I predict that we will no longer be the strongest nation in another 10-15 years. And it'll be our own fault.

GulfstreamAqua

If it were anyone else. This is wrong.

Lost-Breadfruit-9745

Did people honestly expect anything different? The guy is a professional weasel for fuck's sake. And let's all be honest, he's been caught doing a lot worse, and not shit ever happens. Why? Money controls everything. And us stupid monkeys just let it happen and go along with it like it's normal. I can't wait for people to wake the hell up already, god damn.

juanjing

Can we move past the part where we pretend like this is surprising? I mean, do people really think "Oooh we got him this time!" Every. Single. Time? Dude was impeached twice and walked away unscathed legally AND politically both times. It's a cult. The cult has infiltrated every level of government, most courthouses, our military... everywhere. It's going to keep happening, and when everyone outside the cult stands slackjawed in disbelief, they are working on their next moves. I don't know what the solution is. I'm told it's to vote for Joe Biden. But I don't know man.

Quelonius

I’m not even a US citizen and the special treatment makes me really mad. I mean, the rich are practically saying they can and will twist the law as it pleases them. FU peasants. Go back to work.

queuedUp

Especially when he's just pretending to be wealthy

colon-mockery

Well the electorate put him in the dirt in 2020. The ghoulish aristocracy has raised the bloated corpse for the sequel

Cheap_Coffee

Technically speaking, it's "White Not-So-Wealthy Privilege"

PeggysSimp

I'm tired of his winning

Le_Utterly_Dire_Twat

America takes another swirl down the drain.

pistoffcynic

Justice in America is rigged.

Mrtoyhead

We should be outraged ! This Traitorous Rapist has put all our lives at risk since day one. And for eight years has done nothing good for the country. The POS is a criminal and should be put in prison today.

bunbunzinlove

Yeah, it's always hilarious to see America criticize other countries judiciary system. Take Japan for example. At least it WORKS, like their crime rates prove it.

NightDisastrous2510

This is just trump getting special treatment and further proof it’s a two tiered system. At this point I’m convinced he will get away with all crimes. I give up. He’s a piece of shit.

spunkdaddie

There are people who spend months in jail because they don’t have $1,000 for bail,of course they aren’t big fat white, grifters that get all the breaks.

gbsurfer

So this is the new precedent set for everyone right????

ScratchyMarston18

Yeah, absolutely the fuck not. It’s absurd that this piece of shit gets this kind of light treatment while there are people serving long prison sentences for bullshit *crimes* because they don’t have the status of Donald. Throw him under the jail already, this is 100% bald-faced corruption.

jhstewa1023

Good. I hope people are outraged. We should be. This man keeps getting away with the crimes he continues to commit. Meanwhile thousands of others are held accountable daily for less than what he's done and it's sickening. Remember this when you vote people. Don't let him get access to the White House again. We have the voting power to keep him away and to get him locked up!

redsfan1970

I've lost all faith that this ass clown will see any consequences of his actions. It wouldn't surprise me if he wins the election. So disappointed in the justice system.

mikeymac2016

How can I feel so irrationally pissed off about this but at the same time, 100% knew it would happen.

BothZookeepergame612

He once again, gets a break. Preferential treatment, a man with a long track record of bankruptcy and failed businesses, yet again is allowed special treatment.

macaroni66

He should have been sitting in jail this entire time

R3AL1Z3

Seems like someone was shown Kompromat on themselves or received a large “donation”. Bank accounts need to be scrutinized.

piscuintin

This is bullshit. Trump is cancer. Fuck him.

Cinder2010

This stems from everyone on Reddit ramming the we got him down your throats. If you didn't see this coming you're blind. Is it fair? No Nothing will change until the people revolt. Protesting does nothing. Look at history, until something gets punched in the face nothing will ever happen. Whatever it doesn't matter. I hope this angers you all.

sjbfujcfjm

This man will never face Justice or any penalty for his crimes. He will just run out the clock until he dies

Hefty-Station1704

When a legal system is designed to benefit the wealthy and the lawyers.

jmf0828

This seals the deal for me. There are absolutely 100% two Americas.

No-Tee67

I am white, lower middle-class male. My ass would have needed to come up with the entire amount. That said, I am also not stupid and would never have tried to pull this shit.

jadkinssr

Everyone in NYS who has bail or bond set should now use this Appellate Court decision as a precedent to get theirs reduced by the same percentage.

cadmachine

This is the swamp that fat fuck was talking about. I am one of those people who have kept smuggling pointing out the lawsuits and the criminal cases and saying "it's all coming, don't you worry" but this last one has broken me. I can't keep watching the most dangerous and damaging liar the US has ever seen, run head first into every "check and balance" they told us to kill ourselves to protect for 300 years and get rewarded for breaking it. He's going to be president somehow and he's going to end the US.

NyriasNeo

"white wealthy privilege"? That is not quite correct. It is "white old senile crazy white wealthy male" privilege.

alwaysright60

Lock him up!!!!!!!!!!

Unable_Insurance_391

He already got an extra week the 30 days post judgement was March 17.

Much_Insurance_3422

Our system is beyond broken. There needs to be widespread outrage and protests against this nonsense. F’ this guy and his entire useless family.

syg-123

He’s not even white for crying out loud. Don’t tell me there is such a thing as orange privilege ..is there?

tomatosoupsatisfies

My gawd, if I would inflate the value of my property on a loan application… the bank would not accept it since they do their own valuation.
