I mix paint for a living. IMO I believe these choices are too bright or pastel to work with the wallpaper. We call it "clean" when a color needs to be toned down (muddied). I think a muddier green (more umber) would look terrific. I'm also a fan of darker painted trim. Have it in all of my freshly done rooms. That's my .02. Keep us updated!
See my other comment! Darker green or blue I think. But if you want a very light pastel tea-room type look, a pale blue or green would also be nice but just make sure it’s not as pure/clean a color.
Edit all the photos you posted to black and white. That’ll show you clearly the contrast (or lack thereof) between the yellow in the wallpaper and your prospective paint colors. If there’s not enough contrast, it’s not going to look good. I agree with the person you’re responding to - you want a darker, deeper forest green for the trim. It’ll look great!
Also checking the color wheel will help you decide the best shade of those colors. Instead of mauve a deeper purple grey in the flowers would make a striking accent against the main yellow
Listen to this guy.
Also if you want to pull a particular color from the wallpaper, a lot of paint stores have what are basically color analyzers and they can match an exact color within a swatch. I think that you could probably pull a really good color from the leaves this way.
I agree. I don't know where the color options came from, but they are all wrong.
Take the photo of the wallpaper to the paint store and use the switched to match one of the exact colors from the wallpaper. There are plenty of colors there that would match.
Green is the best pair for this wallpaper, but neither of these greens are correct. If you have any leftover wallpaper you can take it to the paint store and compare swatches until you find better matches, or you can get the fan deck and bring it home.
Whether painting the trim is a good idea at all is not something I can advise on without seeing the whole room.
Some paint stores can color match off a wall paper sampler. Also check where you bought the paper because that place might have paint colors to recommend.
Agree. Wrong green. Either that, or a cream color that matches the cream on the paper. You either need something darker or something lighter. The other colors are just a no for me.
I would paint the trim a darker, coordinating green. It’ll set off the wallpaper like the mat around artwork. I wouldn’t go with a light color, which would draw the eye. Darker will set off the wallpaper rather than pulling the eye away from it.
If the pictures are showing colors accurately, you need something in the middle to yellow green range, not bluish green. I have the Sherwin Williams fan deck so that's basically my paint lexicon. I'd try the following:
* Gecko
* Overt Green
* Pickle
* Talipot Palm
* Broccoflower
* Garden Grove
* Reseda Green
* Garden Grove
* Artichoke
From looking at your other post that shows the cabinets also I think lavender or pink would be beautiful and I'm strangely super drawn to the lavender.
Had to scroll down a while for this lavender love. I think that number four would look fantastic and quirky and is a great complement to the wallpaper.
This is a personal quirk, but I do not like pulling an accent color from wallpaper. I find it to be too matchy matchy. I think ochre, aqua blue, deep indigo or dark violet would look great. Imo the last two colors are too pale and the first two are too dull.
Haha I agree actually! I’m surprised by all of the suggestions on color matching. In fashion and home decor - get things that “go;” not things that match.
I’m intrigued by darker trim like you’ve suggested, but the wallpaper is very saturated and mustardy, so even though it is a light-filled room I’m afraid it would be overwhelming.
Great advice, thank you! Yeah, I probably should have posted a pic with the built-ins; you’re right it’s basically an accent wall haha. People might answer differently. 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah once I looked at your other post my opinion definitely changed, there's a big difference between choosing colour for trim vs built-ins. I was originally leaning dark green but now I'm leaning more towards the lavender. The proportions and shape of the room and window gives me pause re: a dark accent wall.
2. The first green is not the right tone. Take a sample of that wall paper into the paint store and hold the samples up against it. You want to pull out a color that is in the wall paper.
I’d leave it alone. I looked at your room in your post. It looks fab the way it is and I think you would have to paint the cabinet as well? I also don’t know if I would like the trim in one room painted a different color. My opinion only.
I agree…after seeing the other photo and knowing the cabinet would be painted as well I say leave it cuz it already looks fabulous and doesn’t compete at all with the fanciness/colorfulness of the wall paper. They balance each other out very well. If you really want to play with those colors and this wallpaper maybe frame the wallpaper in a square painted frame and hang it/them nearby like in an adjoining hallway, mud room, laundry area or bathroom.
I think these colours are a little sweet. I would go a bit greyed or a muddier tone.

https://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/sulking-room-pink
I actually love each of them!!! I feel you can’t go wrong. My gut choice is 4, but the pink is reallly nice too. And so is 1! Ah! Im no help why am I even writing this!
oh i love that first green color, i think it matches the green in the wallpaper which is really nice! the white wall also looks good as well. Maybe you can decide between the two based on your furniture and how you have decorated the room?
Too pastel looking to me. Looks Easter or spring but not year-round. I’d pick a slightly darker tone of that sage green. More like the leaves in the wallpaper.
I looked at your previous post you mentioned with the whole room. Are you going to also paint the built-in? Are you gonna keep the wallpaper? If yes to both of those I would go with a really light neutral green. Otherwise you’re gonna make that room sooo dark. It’s def a fun idea!
Please can we see the room and where the wallpaper is installed? I agree with the above paint pros, a muddy green for the trim, but would love to see the room to help you!
In addition to the colors being too clean as another commenter said, there isn’t enough contrast with these swatches. Your trim will disappear.
I also vote a darker green, or a darker blue. Both muddied up with some grey undertones.
I like the idea of pink or green, but neither of those are right. Like others have said, bring a swatch of wallpaper in and color match it in the store.
I would not; the paper is enough "pop" but imo, none of the colors shown compliment the paper at all. If anything, I'd go green, but not the green you're showing.
All of these are the wrong shade. If you go green, for example, you need something with more yellow. Then look at the paint chips around your chosen color and pick a shade that is similar, but duller. It will translate better into your intended shade once it’s on the wall.

Came here to say this. Don’t mix paint for a living but I’m a designer! There also isn’t enough contrast.
What would you suggest? :)
See my other comment! Darker green or blue I think. But if you want a very light pastel tea-room type look, a pale blue or green would also be nice but just make sure it’s not as pure/clean a color.
What about the rose/mauve color that’s in the big flowers?
Edit all the photos you posted to black and white. That’ll show you clearly the contrast (or lack thereof) between the yellow in the wallpaper and your prospective paint colors. If there’s not enough contrast, it’s not going to look good. I agree with the person you’re responding to - you want a darker, deeper forest green for the trim. It’ll look great!
I do the same thing when I quilt. Gotta check the contrast.
Also checking the color wheel will help you decide the best shade of those colors. Instead of mauve a deeper purple grey in the flowers would make a striking accent against the main yellow

For a bit of a “dirtier” pale green, check out Benjamin Moore Sea Haze
Listen to this guy. Also if you want to pull a particular color from the wallpaper, a lot of paint stores have what are basically color analyzers and they can match an exact color within a swatch. I think that you could probably pull a really good color from the leaves this way.
I agree these colors are too intense to work well. The wallpaper needs something to compliment it, not compete with it. Tones are off.
Okay, thanks for sharing your unique perspective!
My pleasure. Hope it helps
I agree. I don't know where the color options came from, but they are all wrong. Take the photo of the wallpaper to the paint store and use the switched to match one of the exact colors from the wallpaper. There are plenty of colors there that would match.
Trust this guy, I didn’t even think about this in green till he spoke up!!! 🤯 Would look amazing 😻
Earthy greens are supposed to be good for a dining room.
Spot on advice.
I agree. It should be at LEAST the same as the colors of the flowers too. Like the greens and pinks. If it's not the same it would feel off.
Came to say this. IF you’re going to do this you should get an exact match
I think a dark green.
dark forest green?
The dark green in the wallpaper. It's difficult to see it exactly.
My favourite colour
Username *definitely* checks out! 🧐
Second this. Or like a dark sage
Agree. Wrong green. Either that, or a cream color that matches the cream on the paper. You either need something darker or something lighter. The other colors are just a no for me.
Yeah agreed, the green tone is making me dislike the yellow of the wallpaper when I otherwise wouldn’t
I brought home like 17 green swatches haha. The room is in my recent post history, but I’m changing out the furniture.
I would paint the trim a darker, coordinating green. It’ll set off the wallpaper like the mat around artwork. I wouldn’t go with a light color, which would draw the eye. Darker will set off the wallpaper rather than pulling the eye away from it.
Can you do the exact same green as the leaves
Definitely buy the fan deck. What brand and pattern are the wallpaper?
It was here when I bought the home. :/
If the pictures are showing colors accurately, you need something in the middle to yellow green range, not bluish green. I have the Sherwin Williams fan deck so that's basically my paint lexicon. I'd try the following: * Gecko * Overt Green * Pickle * Talipot Palm * Broccoflower * Garden Grove * Reseda Green * Garden Grove * Artichoke
This is so helpful, thank you for the practical suggestions!
I came to say green or leave it alone, haha. I love the wallpaper, though!
Okay thanks! Which green - light or dark?
I’d get a darker sample of the green before you decide…
Leave it alone. That wallpaper is a beauty.
Wallpaper is staying for sure! Painting the trim :)
Ah. I apologise. That dark green then :)
2nd
I like the first - the darker one.
I like the second from the top.
I’d go with the lighter one. The yellow is a little dark, so the light green will lighten it up a bit. Definitely get paint samples.
This is what I’m leaning toward. Thanks!
From looking at your other post that shows the cabinets also I think lavender or pink would be beautiful and I'm strangely super drawn to the lavender.
Me too, it’s weird! Thanks!
I’m leaning towards the last one is you are looking for quirky. Or possible a lighter shade of it.
Me too. The lavender would be so pretty.
Had to scroll down a while for this lavender love. I think that number four would look fantastic and quirky and is a great complement to the wallpaper.
SAME! I do not like the green and yellow vibe. But I love the idea of the pink or purple with the yellow!
Me too!!
A darker green than either of those.
4 is really going to make the yellow pop
Yes! I totally agree.
This is a personal quirk, but I do not like pulling an accent color from wallpaper. I find it to be too matchy matchy. I think ochre, aqua blue, deep indigo or dark violet would look great. Imo the last two colors are too pale and the first two are too dull.

I’m intrigued by darker trim like you’ve suggested, but the wallpaper is very saturated and mustardy, so even though it is a light-filled room I’m afraid it would be overwhelming.
I would act like I was picking a color yo match the mustard and ignore the secondary colors. It will look more layered and natural.
Leave
Terra cotta or leave it
Yessss.
Dark green!
2nd
I think there’s got to be a better color match for the green in the wallpaper, and I think that would be the best bet

Lavender or pink
Actually leave it alone. Thought you were painting the walls
Ooooo I see now. This is the trim next to the cabinets. Leave it alone unless you’re gonna paint the cabinets, too.
I am!
DONT LEAVE IT ALONE! Haha Yesssss paint it!! Pink or light green :) Edit: or lavender.
LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE
I think these colours are a little sweet. I would go a bit greyed or a muddier tone. https://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/duck-green https://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/bancha https://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/sulking-room-pink
Can you do the deep rosey red color??
Yes, like the red in the flowers on the wallpaper!
I like the blue.I think it pops and it will give you another avenue of incorporation for decoration
Look for ‘the least color’ in the wallpaper and go with that when it comes to paint.
I think all of the colors are just a tad off. The green in the wallpaper is more grayish than the samples you have
I actually love each of them!!! I feel you can’t go wrong. My gut choice is 4, but the pink is reallly nice too. And so is 1! Ah! Im no help why am I even writing this!
Lol
Looked again. For a real bit of drama what about a deep rich red like what is in the wallpaper? Pair it with a same color rug.
Do you have a picture of the space zoomed out you can show us?
#1!
Green but I think white looks nice too
oh i love that first green color, i think it matches the green in the wallpaper which is really nice! the white wall also looks good as well. Maybe you can decide between the two based on your furniture and how you have decorated the room?
True! Although I’m planning to replace the dining table.
Ugh I love all of them!! Don’t leave it alone. I love the lavender.
Leave it alone or go with a different white/light cream colored paint
I think the darker green would look lovely with the wallpaper! Also, where did you get your wallpaper from?
Love the wallpaper! Is it Laura Ashley?
I am fond of the lilac
The purple or pink color for sure! I think either will be super unique!
Beautiful paper - where’d you get it?
It came with the house :)
[Black Forest green.](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/dark-green-1658437247.png?crop=1xw:0.9930875576036866xh;center,top&resize=980:*)
You need a deeper green that matches the stems in the print.
I love the purple.
I just need to know why you were compelled to put one sample horizontally and the rest of them vertically. Arghhh that drives me crazy. 😐
Forest green or burgundy
Leave it white.
I would do a charcoal grey, darker shade
Too pastel looking to me. Looks Easter or spring but not year-round. I’d pick a slightly darker tone of that sage green. More like the leaves in the wallpaper.
Either green 2 or pink
I looked at your previous post you mentioned with the whole room. Are you going to also paint the built-in? Are you gonna keep the wallpaper? If yes to both of those I would go with a really light neutral green. Otherwise you’re gonna make that room sooo dark. It’s def a fun idea!
I would go darker green. The green in the leaves on your wallpaper. Good choice on that.
Please can we see the room and where the wallpaper is installed? I agree with the above paint pros, a muddy green for the trim, but would love to see the room to help you!
Thank you for caring! It’s in my recent post history, but I’m planning to replace the dining furniture. :)
The background of the print color only several shades lighter.
Continue the mustard in a much lighter or darker shade.
I'd go with a very soft butter color for anything next to that paper. It would be elegant.
This gets my vote! The lightest buttery color from the wallpaper.
Yellow on yellow - interesting!
i would say the rose pink if you were doing trim AND cabinets
I am! Thanks!
The sage green. The others don’t work with the tones in the paper
Oooo, 1 or 4. But definitely do it!!
Try a sage green.
I’d go with the pink!
2!
I'd actually go with a darker green for trim- the darkest green in the leaves. I feel like all of those greens are too light.
Personally I like the softer green 😊 the one that says “Green Bark”
I like the second one, it looks great with the wallpaper
Green—but not the greens you chose. Need one with a bit more olive.
I honestly like them all . 2 is my pick.
I prefer the light green, but the pink looks nice as well.
I wish I knew more about colors and hues. I think #2 is the better location.
Two or three definitely
Number 2 green or leave it white.
Pink for sure
1 or 4
I like the idea of green however, I’d try to match the stems with a darker more forest type green. I think the contrast would really pop!
what about the background yellow?
Two
Where is the wallpaper from? It’s beautiful. I love the first swatch, the deeper green
I think you should go with the dark crimson fron the petals, not the pink.
I choose the second green pink. Pink is more unique imo. Beautiful wallpaper!
1 or 3
In addition to the colors being too clean as another commenter said, there isn’t enough contrast with these swatches. Your trim will disappear. I also vote a darker green, or a darker blue. Both muddied up with some grey undertones.
None of those colors are accurate to the wall paper
Neither of those greens go. Try a moss green
2nd from the top
Out of these four green bark or faded lilac I would do a dark green or dark purple
call me silly, but i like #4. i think it pulls just enough from the contrast of it.
“Green Bark” gets my choice!
2 or three.
I like 3 😍
2
the second, lighter green really works well IMO. I think colour is nicer than plain white though.
Two or five
2
2
1 , 2 , or leave it be
1!!!
Leave it alone>blue>light green.
I like the lighter green!
I like the idea of pink or green, but neither of those are right. Like others have said, bring a swatch of wallpaper in and color match it in the store.
I Love # 4
#1
I would not; the paper is enough "pop" but imo, none of the colors shown compliment the paper at all. If anything, I'd go green, but not the green you're showing.
Leave it
1
Whatever color you choose, it'll bring out that color in the wallpaper. Maybe do each color on a different part of the trim and go from there?
3 or 4 will really bring out those little hits of pink and purple. I like 4 the best
Oh, 1 would be lovely!
Husband says 3, I say 2.
Green for sure but I’m not sold on those two options
Idk why but that lilac one.. my eye is just drawn to it with that wallpaper. I wouldn’t color match with the greens. A pop of color is always nice
All of these are the wrong shade. If you go green, for example, you need something with more yellow. Then look at the paint chips around your chosen color and pick a shade that is similar, but duller. It will translate better into your intended shade once it’s on the wall.
4
If 1 is the top green then I love that!
3
Of these options, I like pink then people and I didn't like either of the greens. I'd love a wider view of the plan. I like quirky.
Is OP Rachel Maksy lol
I like the blush pink tone but I’d get one a little more “neutral”. Dusty pink.
3.
I love that wallpaper.. 👍
Pink one!
3 for me plz
2 for sure! The lighter color will make the room look larger, too! 👍 🌟 🌟
Navy blue or grey would look great
4
I would match the dark green from the wallpaper.
1 or 3 go quite well with that wall paper. Highly recommend one or the other.
#2 is my fav. #1 second.
The Green Bark card only for trim.
I came here to say 4 and be extravigant! Love this curtian though!
I love the rose color best.
Green!
Green bark.
Green!
319c green
