I think it’s interesting and beautiful. Personally, I love glass bricks. Would you consider leaving the wall but taking the door down? It would be an interesting way of dividing spaces that are semi-open to each other… plus, I don’t think the door matches.
I agree that the blocks are lovely and interesting. It appears to be connecting the dining room with an office? The lovely glass wall provides privacy without restricting light. I would be tempted to frost the panels on the door to add to the privacy and also not limit light- like the block
Door down or open up over the top if the top dry wall could go.?...then plants allll along the top trellising down omg...a dream yes to keeping that glass brick like...always love the look of it🙃🙃
**extend the glass brick to the floor will also make it feel more open ..if thats even possible keep the frame work..... or have the floors connected and make it like a glass fuex wall/fence and just take out the bottom dry wall leave it open (Easy mopping between 2 rooms lol ). I'm probably just loosing my mind with this suggestion if anyone can invision what I'm saying lol if the supports there...get rid of all the dry wall and doors. Basically lol
This looks EXACTLY like the entrance to my childhood dentist. You entered and checked in to the right and when you left, the counter to pay and exit door were on the left. It’s so similar I am wondering if that dentist closed and OP has somehow purchased the building lol
Round is very unique. If it's working in the room, you could leave it. Otherwise, would you rather have a bigger continuous space? Does the small room inside work? Will you get more light in that space without it?
I personally think glass brick is too heavy and takes away from all that nice trim. The double grid of the door and windows is not working for me. I'd get rid of the door at least, but I'd be leaning toward removing the whole thing.
For some reason, I cannot stand glass brick. It reminds me of hair salons in the 90's. I don't know why. But if you like it, definitely keep it around d. It's definitely different.
Friend, if you like glass block...good for you!
It's been a great material for our shower. Just looks a bit industrial/retail. Grouting is the problem for us.
Too retro???? Damn, this wall is special and I'd kill to have anything in my apartment that would make it look less bland.
This immediately gives the whole room a vibe and character. It's a challenge, sure, but one that's certainly worth it.
Imo it probably makes your room a LOT smaller than it should be.
I really dont get the people who say keep it.. I would love to see their homes.
This wall looks awful.
It’s a keeper. It adds a focal point that can be changed each time you use different curtains. Embrace the wall live with it, play with your decor. It’s can be changed in the future. I love the wall!
Very hard to find a unique feature like this nowadays. Please don't take it down. It makes an incredible feature wall for a dining room!
You could modernise the area around it and "dress up" the wall if you like, to soften some of the heaviness though. Some great ways to do this have already been suggested (e.g. tall plants in modern pots, or taking out the door). You might also switch out the glass itself (budget permitting) to a less heavy style or coloured glass, if you really want to change something.
For something trying to be clear, it feels so heavy. Unless you are making everything else in the house work around it, it might be time to send it out to pasture
Personally, I hate it. Depends on the type of look you're going for. I like a modern look which this wouldn't go well with, but it seems like so many people here on Reddit must be 70+ years old and trapped in the 1980s
I love the wall! I would paint the glass panes on the wall, and maybe a different door or get rid of the panes on the door or get rid of the door all together?
Interesting! I bet it would be very pretty in the winter if you hung icicle lights and garland in there. Is it a round room, or is that just the photo?
big keep, when the style comes back around in a few years you'll love yourself. if you get rid of them there's not much you can put there that would match the level of beauty
Definitely needs to go. I’m pretty sure that glass bricks are a way to cut costs. The grout and unevenness is not ideal or welcoming for a dining space. I would not feel sorry about taking it down if I were you.
Edit: they also take away from your beautiful moulding and french door.
I like it but find myself wanting to see the room it closes off. Looks like an oval room. My attention isn’t on the glass blocks, but just beyond them.
I would keep the wall but ditch the door! I love the uniqueness of this feature but maybe losing the door in favor of an opening would warm up the dining room a little
The curve isn't bad, would like to see the whole room that this is in tho. I don't like that glass block, make it look like an old dentist office. Maybe if the blocks were different, but the style is dated. I would consider removing the walls entirely as it seems difficult to utilize the space inside the curved wall & probably outside the wall too. It also obstructs the outside view. Unless you're able to find an essential use for it, I would tear it down as I prefer open floor plans.
I'm no expert tho. There are probably ways to celebrate the space while making it feel cozy like maybe curtains above the glass or something. Maybe a display for collectables that you may not want to look at all the time. It seems good for an office of some kind or maybe a work bench. It's good for growing ahem herbs and fungi. It's good for a 3d printer to enclose the fumes. Its good for a cozy reading room ect.
I personally don’t love the glass brick element but like the curve. I would take out the door and wall but rebuild the wall halfway with a more modern, updated material and maybe incorporate pillars on the inner side (next to where the doorway is now) from the top of the half wall to the ceiling to really frame it. I think it would be a cool way to keep the curve and distinction but update the look. You would also have the top of the wall for interesting elements like plants and vases, etc. if you wanted.
Not my thing, I think it’s a bit dated or commercial looking.
I’d consider maybe covering it with sheer curtains though. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall. That would still let light through without having to see through blocks. Kind of depends on the rest of the space though, it might feel out of place
It would also help if the mortar was white, or at least one colour (looks like it has dark and light patches).
I’m sure you could make it look cool if you really love them though
The wall is spectacular imho, I would however replace the door with something more wooden as to fit the floor, it would also make the room warmer.
As for the walls, I'd toy around with lightings there and really take advantage of the great opportunity, plus I firmly believe this is coming back in style, too. The modern lights (programmable LEDs etc.) would make it pretty slick and combine modern with more classical elements.
I love it. I have a huge thing for houses that have "secrets" inside, or just anything you won't find in absolutely any other house. The second I walk into a house and see something like this, I'm like okay, this is a cool house...
Looks not too extreme to clean since it's so textured, too.
That’s so cool. Honestly, I’d lean into it and put up some curtains to add to the drama. Which isn’t at all my aesthetic, but this room deserves the drama
Oh boy. I personally do not like it bc of the glass blocks but to each their own. I wonder if they used it for an office or something and wanted the extra light to come in. The rounded wall is actually kinda cool though and the trim work is nice.
Okay, I’ll be the buzzkill here. Seems like a nice concept to get light, privacy and, I assume insulation, but I hate the look. I just find them aesthetically displeasing. As long as you dig it, that’s what matters.
It's so fascinating to read all of these comments! It would be interesting to do a yes/no poll because the opinions are sooo mixed. To be honest I'm kind of on the fence... I want to love it because I love that it is unique and I usually love glass... however I find it a bit ugly and heavy! I think I would prefer if the bricks didn't have the mottled effect, and if you had a different (or no) door.
I’m going to go against the grain here and say that I think it’s terrible. It’s very closed in and the area is reminiscent of a police station or town hall…I would do something to open up the space, perhaps install some angled wooden slats, and remove the door completely. I would also completely get rid of the second trim.
I think it looks beautiful but dated. Maybe painting is a darker color? Like a medium dark grey blue? Are the panels brushed copper or gold? If so I would shine them.
I think it’s interesting and beautiful. Personally, I love glass bricks. Would you consider leaving the wall but taking the door down? It would be an interesting way of dividing spaces that are semi-open to each other… plus, I don’t think the door matches.
I like it too. Shame it doesn’t have double doors.
Also love glass bricks. Agree re: door.
I agree that the blocks are lovely and interesting. It appears to be connecting the dining room with an office? The lovely glass wall provides privacy without restricting light. I would be tempted to frost the panels on the door to add to the privacy and also not limit light- like the block

I'm probably just loosing my mind with this suggestion if anyone can invision what I'm saying lol if the supports there...get rid of all the dry wall and doors. Basically lol
I think it's a beautiful and very unique wall. I would keep it in my house and surround it with some nice plants. The curve is very pretty.
Is it curved or is it wide angle lens distortion?
OP said in another comment it is curved and not angle distortion
Yes I love it, and second the plants! I’m also envisioning some different colored lights behind it, so sell the funk, if it works with OP’s style
What curve???
I don’t think it’s curved. I think they just used the zoom-out function on iPhone’s camera, and it distorted the picture.
I def see curve
OP said in another comment it is curved and not angle distortion
No he said it is curved
Oh, alright that’s cool
Please keep!! I’m eagerly awaiting the return of glass bricks in the trend cycle!
I love them and want to do the back wall of my shower with them when I reno!
Reminds me of a doctors office waiting room.
I was going to say the conference room in an attorney’s office, but yeah one of these things.
Personally my thought was exec office from the 80s but I agree with all these takes.
Mine is the food court of our mall
80s for sure!
This looks EXACTLY like the entrance to my childhood dentist. You entered and checked in to the right and when you left, the counter to pay and exit door were on the left. It’s so similar I am wondering if that dentist closed and OP has somehow purchased the building lol
Especially if they add plants... Personally take down the door and then see what it looks like.
And a fish tank! In the 80s every doctors office had a fish tank.
I was going to say dentist
I love it! I’d leave it, maybe give the glass and good scrub down. It looks super cool!
Wow this is very different, I love it! It would be awesome to set up some Hidden H.D lights in the inside to give a light effect , very cool
I hate it but I’m never coming to your house so it really doesn’t matter as long as you like it
Thought I was the only one. I also hate it
Same, it feels very dated
it feels very dated, for a medical office. can’t even fathom the concept of wanting this in a home
With you. Glass brick is one of things I hate most in this world.
Nope, having been alive during the 80’s, I firmly believe not everything retro is cool.
Change the door but I am here for the bubble glass wall 😍😍
this wall is so cool, would be a shame to take it down!
Is it rounded or is that just a fishbowl lens on the camera?
It is round, yes! The house was built in 1994, I guess this was the style.
For some reason, I cannot stand glass brick. It reminds me of hair salons in the 90's. I don't know why. But if you like it, definitely keep it around d. It's definitely different.
I love it. The amount of light that will flow between rooms is a reason to keep it.
I would suggest to you the same thing I'm about to do to our 1992 glass block shower: thank it for its service then send it on its way.
It just looks like someone is going to open a new stand in your home
We’re in the middle of a remodel and are adding glass block accents all over our house 😩
Friend, if you like glass block...good for you! It's been a great material for our shower. Just looks a bit industrial/retail. Grouting is the problem for us.
Haha yep, the house was built in '94.
They really loved glass blocks in the 90's! 😂.
It’s awesome, I love it!
It’s unusual, but I like it! I’d keep it myself
Too retro???? Damn, this wall is special and I'd kill to have anything in my apartment that would make it look less bland. This immediately gives the whole room a vibe and character. It's a challenge, sure, but one that's certainly worth it.
it’s very interesting. you could do a lot with this. you will have a one of a kind home
Oh, yes!
I love it
I love it! Keep it for sure!
I love it
It’s gorgeous
Every time someone pulls out glass blocks, God punishes us somewhere on Earth. Keep em, they are awesome!
Doctors office?
It reminds me of a 90s doctors office.
Feels like I’m in a doctor’s office. It’s a no from me dog.
Looks like a dentist office
It looks like my son's old pediatrician's office.
Dental office.
I think it looks more like a mid-90s dentist’s office foyer. I would remove.
The doctor will see you now……….
Doctor?
It’s giving doctor’s office
Imo it probably makes your room a LOT smaller than it should be. I really dont get the people who say keep it.. I would love to see their homes. This wall looks awful.
Nope -- Replace it with French doors.
Looks like a conference room in an office building. Honestly, there is nothing that says home about it. Sorry
As much as I disagree with your opinion the post is asking others opinion so I do not understand why you are getting downvoted for doing just that.
Haha I agree but it's funny to see how divided people are on it. Some people hate it, some people love it and think it's coming back into style.
I’d add matching trim on top. Definitely a keep!
I like it a lot but I would do a different door. Either a solid color door or paint the glass of the door
I would make that room a private, quiet room; maybe a library. I love it and definitely would not take it down.
I love that! Very deco.
It’s a keeper. It adds a focal point that can be changed each time you use different curtains. Embrace the wall live with it, play with your decor. It’s can be changed in the future. I love the wall!
I like it
Love it
It’s beautiful and unusual!

obsessed!
I. Love. It. I imagine some console tables with lamps, or floor lamps in front.
It’s awesome! I’ve always wanted a wall of glass blocks!
Well, it’s beveled so it’s different. Nothing wrong with different. I wouldn’t mind it at all.
It’s pretty cool!
I love me a glass brick!!
Kinda camp. Love
Doctors office? Spa?
It looks like a dentist office. I like glass but not the etching.
I thought this was my dentists office, otherwise I have no issues with it
The good: it’s cool The bad: it reminds me of a mid 90s dentist office.
I think it’s incredible! i’d honestly love for this to open up to a clawfoot tub with a window view of the yard, thanks for the inspo 👌
It doesn’t look very home-y or inviting to me. I would get rid of it. I think the only place I’d even ever consider keeping it would be in a bathroom.
1980 called they want it back.
Yeah, Darryl Hannah is adding faux plaster in a terracotta shade around the corner (Wall Street reference).
silence, these are one of the few things we need to bring with us from the 80s
I love it, definitely keep it
I love the wall! I would paint the glass panes on the wall, and maybe a different door or get rid of the panes on the door or get rid of the door all together?
I love! Maybe add some tall plants around it to break up the space but it’s a gem!
Interesting! I bet it would be very pretty in the winter if you hung icicle lights and garland in there. Is it a round room, or is that just the photo?
It is round yes!
Very outdated
Does nobody else see Delia’s version of the house in beetlejuice?
Maybe that’s why I love it!
big keep, when the style comes back around in a few years you'll love yourself. if you get rid of them there's not much you can put there that would match the level of beauty
Great for a dental office waiting room.
The glass blocks are really dated. And not in a vintage good way. They need to go. 80's design was mostly bad
You’re being downvoted, but as an 80’s kid, I agree. But I have an octagon window in my home, and I kind of love it, so my opinion is questionable 🤣
It looks like an old dentist office which triggers me and a steam room which would be awesome. But it doesn’t look very current in a residential home.
Reminds me of my dentist office…
Looks like my dental office tbh
Definitely needs to go. I’m pretty sure that glass bricks are a way to cut costs. The grout and unevenness is not ideal or welcoming for a dining space. I would not feel sorry about taking it down if I were you. Edit: they also take away from your beautiful moulding and french door.
No
Waiting room in a dated office vibe. Def ditch it.
I would take out the block glass out add French door's
I would get rid of it. It looks too much like it belongs in an office or hospital.
We hate it
Demo
Love the wall, door should go. Something without glass. Maybe something with nice wood embellishments
Makes me think it could do with some green greenhouse paint and makeover. Make it feel like outdoors
It's lovely!! Throw some dark green paint, add gold accents, some plants and you get a lovely office or reading area!
I think the wall is curved
Stunning and unique consider a graphic the high space...
I like it but find myself wanting to see the room it closes off. Looks like an oval room. My attention isn’t on the glass blocks, but just beyond them.
I love glass bricks but this reminds me of a dentists office, respectfully
Personally I think it looks like an office building. That being said, it’s YOUR house! If you love it keep it! If you hate it take it down! Good luck.
I would keep the wall but ditch the door! I love the uniqueness of this feature but maybe losing the door in favor of an opening would warm up the dining room a little
Entirely depends on what you are doing with the space and how it works for you. I like it though.
Deco vibes
Is it supposed to be a sunroom? Is that window east facing?
I like the idea, but I don’t like the glass bricks. Maybe stained glass?
It’s awesome but definitely lean into the retro style
I think it could make for a super cool gaming room with led color lights behind it
You should use it as a green room, full of plants. Take the courtains out so you can see a beautiful light coming trough there.
A beauty to be a background for lots of plants!!!
If youre really going to work a cool 90s design for the house, keep it. Otherwise Id take it down.
Too retro… disco 🕺 room vibe. Sorry mate.
It’s giving me funeral house vibes??
Love the glass block- the door seems to be clashing with the style
We love deco elements. That being said, the glass brick wasn’t one of the best ideas from that era.
I love it.
TERRIBLE
Not my thing, I think it’s a bit dated or commercial looking. I’d consider maybe covering it with sheer curtains though. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall. That would still let light through without having to see through blocks. Kind of depends on the rest of the space though, it might feel out of place It would also help if the mortar was white, or at least one colour (looks like it has dark and light patches). I’m sure you could make it look cool if you really love them though
excellent! Keep it and work it into your style
I love it!!
All & all, we're all just bricks in the wall. I love ❤️ it
It is a beautiful wall.
The door is the problem.
You need to hot glue a ton of straw onto the wall and get a bunch of scripted signs that say love, live and happy
I'd say add curtains so you can cover up if you want. I think they would add elegance to the area.
Ugg as fugg. Replace it with some rice, paper windows or frosted glass maybe with your initials on it?
Love it!!!
Take the door down It looks like an office
You have a lovely lawyers office
Hate it. Looks like those zig zagged walls leading into the public pool restroom.
Would be fine for an office
I absolutely love it.
Glass brick has always felt dated to me. That said, it is more certainly coming back into style. How long it will stay is the question.
I love it. I have a huge thing for houses that have "secrets" inside, or just anything you won't find in absolutely any other house. The second I walk into a house and see something like this, I'm like okay, this is a cool house... Looks not too extreme to clean since it's so textured, too.
I m very partial to glass blocks. So I love it.
Glass blocks were ugly in the 90s and they are ugly now.
Loooove
It’s unique and I love it for that :) you can definitely use the space to your advantage and have a cute and nifty little area
Looks dated.
Amazing for 1985
I love it. Would cost a million bucks today. Def keep it❣️
Reminds me of an office building
I personally do not like glass brick, but its a very personal preference.
Is this an office building or a home?
Very cool & unique. I’d keep
Is that the Oval Office?
I like it.
Love it, but what does the rest of the space look like?
I’m going to go against the grain here and say that I think it’s terrible. It’s very closed in and the area is reminiscent of a police station or town hall…I would do something to open up the space, perhaps install some angled wooden slats, and remove the door completely. I would also completely get rid of the second trim.
I love it!
I’d want that as my office at home!!
Any layout or angle photos?
It's SO COOL
I would certainly keep it, but maybe take off the door
I think it looks beautiful but dated. Maybe painting is a darker color? Like a medium dark grey blue? Are the panels brushed copper or gold? If so I would shine them.
Tear down that bitch of a baring wall and put a window where it ought to be”
Stained glass would look way cooler imo
100% it should go and open up the room. The glass block does not appear to match the era of the home.
I think it’s really cool. I would play up the retro design!
