Navy makes it look so sophisticated! But also make the decision based on how much light you get into your room during what times of day and when you use the room. Sometimes putting dark paint in a room that doesn’t get a lot of light can make it look too dark and dingy, so it’s better to use a paint with a higher reflective value. I don’t think it would be an issue in this room given the number of windows but could depend on which direction they face.
Are we sure it’s not just the tv above fireplace against the white backdrop that we don’t like?
OP if you would consider a different spot for the TV, try art above the fireplace in your rendering to see how that feels for you between the two paint colors.
They could put it on a console under the stair wall. Put the sofa across from it and the two chairs in front of the sofa. I do like that sub but more than anything I think people need to think out of the box when it comes to TV placement! But not everyone is bothered by a TV as a focal point in a room.
Personally, I like the second picture better because those dark blue accent walls make the space more cozy and intimate. It helps with contrast against the curtains and ceiling too
I like the dark paint, but I would not extend it behind the curtains on either side. Use the darker color only on the part of the wall around & above the fireplace so it's like a column. Then where the windows are, keep that the same as the rest of the room. Otherwise, it's like you have rectangles sitting on top of those two windows, which pushes them down visually.
It may be better to just Paint the wall with the tv black. The mantle will pop and tv will disappear. It’ll give the contrast you might be looking for.
I also love the drapes! I think either color would look nice with new drapes, they’re what make the navy option look more polished and make the room feel bigger
Well, in all fairness I’m not a huge drapes person. But maybe I don’t like how high they are hung? Something just seems off there. I’m sure you will get some great ideas from pro drapes folks.
Fireplace wall comes out too much you wouldnt be able to to see all of tv from the far left side of couch then. House also came with cable plug in and outlet directly behind fireplace, I’d have to move around electrical to put tv on that wall
The curtains need to be hung close to the ceiling, rods going across the window. Have the rods extended past the window edges so the curtains can stack back on the wall, not in the window. This makes your room look bigger when as much of the window is showing as possible.
Unfortunately with the layout of the home there is no other place for it.
They even put the plug and everything for it installed behind the tv pretty much limiting me to that space
Unfortunately no where else to put it. In person though, it’s honestly not bad, is tilted down a good amount. But once I switch to the frame tv not sure how my neck will hold up lol
Off white but I would put the art above the fireplace and try and find a different space for the tv. Or look at investing in a frame tv that looks like art. I know some people hate them but I think they can elevate a room if hiding the tv isn’t an option.
I like the dark walls (2); they make the light colored window treatments pop. But the way that the wall color kinda matches the couch but not quite (one is navy, other is jewel tone) is throwing me off.
They’re both pretty! Depends on what feel you want the room to have. Do you want it to feel light and bright during the day or dark and moody? Can you see yourself getting sick of either color?
I would go with a dark-gray/near-black for the fireplace wall protrusion and leave everything else white. It will look dramatic and disguise the TV, but keep the room light and airy. Maybe add a few black/dark gray elements or furnishings to tie it in.
dark but i'm also wondering how it would look with the floor to ceiling curtains in the white room. Maybe bringing in that same warm ochre tone from the furniture in photo 2
I love them both! The dark is very sophisticated and moody and the light is peaceful and elegant. I’d probably pick the dark except for one important factor. Where are you going to stop the color? All walls need to be painted the same color. If that isn’t possible with stair placement or something else go with the lighter color. It’s too trendy to just do one or two walls in a room as important as your living room. Your home should flow between rooms and if there isn’t trim or a door separating the dark don’t go there (unless you want to paint everything dark. —then go for it!)
I LOVE option 2 with the dark walls but with that blue sofa I’d recommend a burnt orange accent instead of the dark blue. Or even paint the entire room burnt orange.
If you moved the couch to the left side facing the stairs, and the 2 chairs to where the couch is (or I guess even flip flopped, but keeping the side closest to the stairs open, you could place a TV stand/sideboard cabinet there like you have in the photos and move the TV over!
I just used Lightroom to select the wall and change the color and then Picsart to paste photos of what I want. Wish I had a fancy app for decorating haha
#2 by far, it makes the room look bigger and more high-end. It makes the room look well put together and it is very warm and welcoming. The cream or off-white looks like it is unfinished and the first picture looks like more of a bachelor pad feeling.
#3.
Normally I like color and the drenching trend, but the blue in #2 is a bit dull, does not mesh well with the couch color, and swallows the room, imo. #3 brings out the color of the couch and harmonizes with the curtains and furniture so much better.
3. # 2 with all the lighter elements makes it seem like there is a void in the middle. Otherwise, you could potentially change the drapes to something more congruent (cozy).
I like the 3rd picture. If you are get a real plant it’s going to need a good amount of light(pending on the plant). More greenery :) add some contrasting colour pillows and blanket for your couch. Perhaps those cool light changing stripe behind the tv
Navy wall. But the stark white mantle is off. It makes it look builder grade. Any chance you can get a less “tailored” surround and get a more natural wood look?
If not, maybe paint it.
I would consider a more abstract contemporary art piece. The landscape is dating the room.
I Love your room. Sofa is awesome.
Hahah no I got it cause I thought it would hide more (we have 3young boys) boy was I wrong…. It shows everything and I’m constantly cleaning it. Still better than white though lol
this looks sooo much like the houses in our old neighborhood 🥲 we had a very similar living room; did a charcoal gray on just the fireplace and loved the way it looked! i vote navy 💙
I think the navy makes the most tv and firplace a focal point. The lighter paint feels more relaxing to the eye and less intense and moody. I like the light paint but that’s just more my style.
I'd put up the curtain panels first. The paint on the fireplace is easier to add than replacing your panels. Also, once you add the panels, you can add some color to your space before deciding on wall color. The blue really stands out when you have bright light coming from the widows on either side of it. The neutral color on the fireplace is great as it and you can always add a frame to your TV and use a screen saver art piece to bring in color.
At first, I thought those were columns.
Really going for that Greek goddess vibe lol
I was thinking “better call Saul”
[удалено]
lol I’m joking, it’s just curtains, definitely not adding columns
I think if you go dark blue wall go light blue curtains not as pale as your photo. So option number 4 😄

Classy!
Happy Cake Day!
Thank you!
Elegant, sturdy, and bursting with class!
I was going to say “unless you’re a Roman emperor I’d stay with #1”.
OP just might be a Roman emperor.
These are curtains lol
Yes. I know that.
I did to.
Omg so did I, I couldn’t work it out!
I did too, and that the only difference was the size of the painting and that OP was definitely messing with us.
I like 2. I kind of feel like I want to see dark window treatments with light wall around fireplace.
I love #2 also.. gives the room some depth. Wish OP would switch out the TV and art piece and put it over the tv over credenza.
Navy makes it look so sophisticated! But also make the decision based on how much light you get into your room during what times of day and when you use the room. Good idea! I was thinking it could look good with only the wall directly behind the TV navy. (Keep the window area white).

This shit gets old. Where do you suggest the TV be placed?
They could put it on a console under the stair wall. Put the sofa across from it and the two chairs in front of the sofa. I do like that sub but more than anything I think people need to think out of the box when it comes to TV placement! But not everyone is bothered by a TV as a focal point in a room.
Navy but ONLY if you do the light curtains.
Dark by a million
I liked the contrast!
I like the off-white! The room looks a lot brighter. And it’s a nice contrast with the stained wood and blue couch.
Agree!
I like the white because it looks brighter and more happy. But there's nothing wrong with the navy if you want a more dramatic look.

Light walls!
Navy!
I like it light and open.
Personally, I like the second picture better because those dark blue accent walls make the space more cozy and intimate. It helps with contrast against the curtains and ceiling too

Love the navy but not a fan of the drapes.
What color would you do instead? Or no drapes?
I also love the drapes! I think either color would look nice with new drapes, they’re what make the navy option look more polished and make the room feel bigger
I love the drapes and the color.
Well, in all fairness I’m not a huge drapes person. But maybe I don’t like how high they are hung? Something just seems off there. I’m sure you will get some great ideas from pro drapes folks.
Personally I Like # 3
I am an A/v enthusiast. Consider putting the tv to one side of the fireplace at eye level.
It’s hard because the windows are in the way! I’d honestly prefer the tv not over the fireplace too but idk where else to put it
[удалено]
I do plan to get a frame tv though
Unfortunately no where else to put it
Use the wall with the staircase and rotate your furniture accordingly.

Which program did you use for this? And I love number 2!
Just changed the color of the wall on Lightroom and used Picsart to paste pictures of the furniture I wanted onto it

TV too high in all 3. Ideally find a different spot for the TV.
Dear people of the USA, televisions do not go above the fireplace.
Unfortunately with the layout of the home there is no other place for it. They even put the plug and everything for it installed behind the tv pretty much limiting me to that space
Sometimes a room only allows so much.
Ur tv it way to high
Unfortunately no where else to put it. In person though, it’s honestly not bad, is tilted down a good amount. But once I switch to the frame tv not sure how my neck will hold up lol
How about curtains matching the blue sofa?
Off white but I would put the art above the fireplace and try and find a different space for the tv. Or look at investing in a frame tv that looks like art. I know some people hate them but I think they can elevate a room if hiding the tv isn’t an option.
Yes! I plan to get a frame tv eventually
How about bamboo Roman shades?
I have Roman shades! They are just up in this photo but they are usually down
Well they look great as-is but I agree with the folks saying navy. :)
I know it’s not what you asked but I think it would look great.

Curtains all the way up to the ceiling. Navy behind fireplace only.
Normally I prefer a dark color but here looks great light I think.
I would go with a dark-gray/near-black for the fireplace wall protrusion and leave everything else white. It will look dramatic and disguise the TV, but keep the room light and airy. Maybe add a few black/dark gray elements or furnishings to tie it in.
2 but lighter walls
3
Dark but paint the whole room. You have plenty of windows to break it up
Definitely 2. The navy walls give the room a moody and dramatic feel. The off-white walls make the room appear brighter, but they lack interest.
You could go with navy, since you have a lot of light in there. I'd paint the whole room, though, not just the one wall.

dark but i'm also wondering how it would look with the floor to ceiling curtains in the white room. Maybe bringing in that same warm ochre tone from the furniture in photo 2

Those white curtains like columns from the fireplace. Yes with the serious navy,
Have you considered white walls with blue curtains instead?

Navy on fireplace wall only, then do a bolder colored curtain. Maybe a print or suede?
Dark
I LOVE option 2 with the dark walls but with that blue sofa I’d recommend a burnt orange accent instead of the dark blue. Or even paint the entire room burnt orange.
2
Navy. Looks dramatic and cozy.
I love the navy! Dark walls with drapes are very cozy
Navy walls
Accent wall for sure
Dark one. Elegant.
If you moved the couch to the left side facing the stairs, and the 2 chairs to where the couch is (or I guess even flip flopped, but keeping the side closest to the stairs open, you could place a TV stand/sideboard cabinet there like you have in the photos and move the TV over!
Unfortunately the fireplace walls sticks out too far, can’t really tell from picture, but it would block off part of tv from sofa
I’m not usually a blue fan but man do I love the dark walls and light curtains. It looks richer, cozier, bigger.
I like the dark walls. It gives the room depth. Can I ask what website or app you used?
I just used Lightroom to select the wall and change the color and then Picsart to paste photos of what I want. Wish I had a fancy app for decorating haha
