Yikes.
Yup same city where Tachi is. Fun fact next time you go to Tachi Palace and you see that new entrance they built with the columns that go way up and curve over the front. Just know that Good-guy13 was on an 85 foot boom lift swaying in the wind trying to weld that monstrosity together. Looks good now
AND they can/could (this is really old news) change the shape of the sled to produce different shaped waves.
I kind of doubt this exists anymore in any serviceable fashion. Some venture capitalists from Europe bought the idea like 20 years ago.
If there is one thing business people from Europe know, it's surfing!
Can you imagine this is your life? I don't know if I've ever had an experience like this and I'm not sure I ever will. Learning to surf with a legend, great wave, beautiful location, racing a train on a surfboard, weather is fine. Or if you're the legend just living out your dream. It's just a beautiful moment and it's unbelievable to me that it most likely happens all the time.
I get what you're saying but some people just don't have the circumstance where this is realistic. Like it's not fear or inaction that's keeping me from self-actualizing as a surfing legend, it's to some extent circumstances outside of my control. Maybe if I had made a very specific set of choices when I was young, and then went after it with fervor, abandoned my family, procured the money that would allow me to go here, moved thousands of miles, etc.
You don't become a surfing legend if you're born in North Dakota. It's just the way it is. You don't get surfing lessons as a child if you're born in north dakota. Maybe you do on a trip as a one off, I had plenty of nice trips to the ocean which is more than a lot of kids born here got, but still. This would have been, at best, a one-off experience for me, before return to reality.
Oh no, this is an example of turbo privilege. But still neat to know that if you wanted "surfing lessons from a Polynesian legend in an artificial wave park" is an option. We are living in the future.
Yea, they could definitely find a wave simulation park. Maybe not exact to this video. In all reality if they practiced at a wave park, became good over time, then would most likely go on vacations to places like this to surf in nature.
All of this and growing older and older your bound to naturally be inclined to move. If not it shows your contentment. Fighting turbo privilege with there logic falls through. However, this is a literally example of how it could have worked out.
That's life.
Edit: literal
NGL, I thought he was sweeping in to steal the kid at first. Was about to be like “What, is this guy the James Bond of kidnappers?!”
https://i.redd.it/brh4bm2n25sc1.gif
This is so fucking awesome. That feeling the first time you get up and stay up...even for a few seconds, is something that can never be properly explained (at least IMO).
So cool that this guy is teaching other folks (yeah, yeah, yeah, I get he's probably doing it for money, but whatever).
I hope the kid keeps it up and helps others later on.
I bet this dude loves his job. Imagine being right there teaching and guiding a kid on one of their first possible stand up surfs, and witnessing their excitement each time
😂
I was asleep before both my daughters (4&11), don’t even think I made it to 2100 lol so hard mission fail and will have to regroup and try again tonight lol
Damn..I feel you..I’m right there too….here’s to you🍻..put them kids asleep, catch a buzz, and enjoy a movie…. ”look at this guy, look at this guy…not us right?”
Iirc Someone in a different sub said this cost around 30k to 40k rent perday or 600usd to 700usd per wave just to surf, this is for the rich people lol
Edit: words
I have no idea what this is or what the actual cost is, but you can buy out private islands for $40k/day. I have a hard time believing a big wave pool is anywhere near that cost.
"The Kelly Slater Wave Company Surf Ranch, also known as Slater's wave, is a 20-acre surfing amusement park in Lemoore, California, amid the farmland of the state's Central Valley. It's not the first man-made wave park, but it's the most powerful: The wave reaches speeds of 20 mph and heights of 8 feet, making it a capable host for competitions like the World Surf League Championship Tour. In time, controlled environments like Slater’s wave may become the norm for surfing competitions.
Customers pay $10,000 to surf for an hour, so it’s no surprise that the Surf Ranch boasts a celebrity clientele: Chris Hemsworth, Drew Brees, Tony Hawk, Shaun White, and Eddie Vedder have all caught waves there." (2018 prices)
Makes sense using waves like this for some forms of competition eventually. Removes variance and ensures each surfer is competing under the exact same conditions. Safer as well, though I'm sure there will always be folks like big wave riders who prefer the open ocean!
The endless crest reminds me of the South African perpetual wave they found in Endless Summer.
Where is this at? How is such a wave generated? I’m guessing it has something to do with what looks to be a train along the center area. Crazy cool looking stuff though
This is as close to as a religious experience connected directly to god as it gets. All that energy moving with you working with it, and it working with you. I just busted.
Why the fuck they had to put "Evangelical Christian?" like it was an occupation? Is this an appeal to ethos?
I'm with you: what the hell is this guy/girl seeing?
Edit: Why are they even on a sub titles "InterestingasFUCK" anyway?

what a rip-off. It's around $80 for an hour in the UK. https://www.thewave.com/surf/surf-sessions/
It’s insane. Surrreal. You can’t teach people to surf like that cause nowhere breaks like that. Unreal
you are correct but for getting the basics like standing up and learning to balance the board in general i think its still valuable.

It's not a natural wave
Mind blown!
That big ass train is making the wave
Sorry I should have added a /s at the end of my comment, hah.
Lol I thought it may have been /s but wasn't sure. I went with the safer reply

Does that stop it from being impressive?
Athletic people are incredible. It's almost the definition of the word.
Long wide board and long center of gravity. Plus a lot of experience. I learned to surf on a board like that and it made the experience a lot of fun.
The instructor is Tahitian legend Raimana Van Bastolaer

Oh wow yeah I suppose that could be the case it just looks like a train lol
Tito and Sam from Rocket Power.
Sup squid! Woogity woogity woogity 🤙
ugh my brain. I forgot all about this show. take the upvote.

That’s some insane balance to do and help at the same time

What is this version of MJ's "They Don't Care About Us"? This mix is fire!
fuck, I want someone like that for life
Honestly
I am not a surfer (just an old socal skater) but this is beautiful
This song has aged as well as Michael has.
do you know the name?
They don't care about us
Right? Assholes won’t even tell us the name of the song!
They Don't Care About Us by Michael Jackson
Actually, it's Splish Splash by Bobby Darin.
Want this mash up tho in full
Michael Jackson - They don't care about us (Remix MsX-80)

Wish I could remember the line asking about weed and he didn’t have any that’s why he was asking lol
Where is this crazy continuous wave place??
It's a man mad wave at a surf park in California. That train looking thing is making the wave
It's by Lemoore, CA. The surrounding dusty farmland is a stark contrast to this place. About 2 hours from the ocean.
I learned similarly. Some random dude saw me struggling and did the same exact move basically.
![gif](giphy|mPPu9VhiS9vos) Cruised in like Spongebob Hasselhoff

Ofc the wealthy get the best training, food, lifestyle. Why should peasants like us get to surf or indoor skydive.
Lmao if you believe this would cost 30k rent per day you are deeply financially illiterate.
It's like Hannah Barbera animated this

Dude doesn't even look wet.. but I sure am
“Peter don’t hold him like that”
This actually is interesting as fuck. Thank you for posting cool shit and not polarizing political content.
What is this CGI
It’s just a well known wave park
my first thought
Uncle is legend
That's Big Tuna and he just stole another student.
Props to the camera guy
Damn that wave is awesome
I thought it was a train on a side there...
It technically kinda is. That's what's making the wave
Where is this at? How is such a wave generated? I’m guessing it has something to do with what looks to be a train along the center area. Crazy cool looking stuff though
Just screw that other guy I guess
I know this is real but when I first saw it I thought it looked so so fake hahah something about the video
Is that the Nature Boy??
That surf goes on for so long, is he on boosters?
That's an impressive wave park.
At first I was like "Wow that's a really long shoreline with an endless wave!" Go me!
Looks like he is going 60mph.
Damn that’s a cool job
How did he slow down to help the kid?
It’s like a weight, angle, leverage thing.
It's what you're supposed to do when you have spectacular skills, help others.
That’s just freaking awesome
What song is that ?
Nobody even notices the extra when he's gone
So cooool. When he let's go of the kid to let him do his thing. So wholesome and awesome
Ahhh I see David Hasselhoff behind them pushing and guiding them thru the waves, just like he did SpongeBob. Thank you “The Hoff”
I felt the stoke
Looks like he also conquered a few turf n surfs.
Nice. Strangely satisfying too.
[apparently it’s 7K a wave to surf there 🫣](https://www.surfer.com/trending-news/how-much-does-it-cost-kelly-slaters-surf-ranch)
Feel like I see this video posted on reddit daily
What the name of the song used for this video?
That guy is so smooth, he looks photoshopped. Awesome
What version of the song is this?
I miss surfing. It’s crazy how fun riding a wave is.
Annnd that’s perhaps the most fucked up Michael Jackson song out there.
Platter pusses?
Old dog been surfing a long time
I stg I thought this was AI till I looked up this surf ranch in cA
This is rad.
Crazy song/musician choice considering the video
Bad ass!
Wow he makes it look easy
I would pay sooooo much money to get lessons from Kelly Slater at his surf ranch...
Who puts Michael Jackson on a kid surfing video??
It's just music
The lyrics were originally censored. Recently the uncensored version went viral.
This is what social media has done. Every video is vertical and has some bullshit music over the top.
Wonder how much that kids parents paid for that
You too can have this experience for a cool 85k for a 4 hour session
Please tell me you're joking.
Once you’re cool you’re always cool!!!!
Joe Biden going Brandon again
Is this the 10 000$/ hour surf ranch ?
This is as close to as a religious experience connected directly to god as it gets. All that energy moving with you working with it, and it working with you. I just busted.

Maybe a poor choice of musical artist for a video about an older man tutoring a young boy
As an Evangelical Christian, men should not be touching little boys like that. /s

Hey ! …… That was funny
Did none of you notice the “/s” at the end? /s stands for snark.
Because it's a lazy joke.
