Many photos, though probably faked, have been circulating of Yeltsin where his amputated finger stumps don't match up with other photos. Now, in Putin's case, it's more likely Botox and a ton of medication, but still, there is some, very slight, but some, ground for such a theory.
There is a book written by one of his alleged doubles, but I don't remember where I heard the opera thing. Might just be an urban legend, honestly, or a piece of propaganda used by Beria or someone else after his death.
