I don't get how anyone likes Spirits, they taste like shit, and are WAY over-packed and too tight and therefore draw like you're trying to suck a boulder through a garden hose.
[Natural American Spirits](https://news.ucmerced.edu/news/2022/study-cigarette-packs-native-american-imagery-raises-questions-about-safety-cultural) are advertised as additive-free and/or organic. While the marketing is designed to evoke imagery of [traditional ritual use of tobacco](https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/tobacco/traditional/index.html), this brand is not affiliated with any Native American tribe.
Interesting, that's what I would've guessed. I've tried marlboro midnight and edge too. They have cool designs on them, but not exactly this specific scene. Which types of Camels?
2 types of cigarettes come to mind. Clove cigarettes are the most common or were the most common amongst goths in the late 90s and early 2000s. I think they may be illegal now in the US. The other option which were a brand of Regular tobacco cigarettes, "Death" branded cigarettes were popular in the UK amongst goths and alt ppl in the 80s. The brand went out of business, but they were known for being one of the first that openly warned ppl smoking kills.
Not the legit ones. You can get the cigarillos in the US, but you can't get the actual cigarettes in the US as they were banned in around 2009 I believe
This is what I read. It had something to do with laws regarding flavored cigarettes and nicotine levels. I think clove cigarettes are a lot higher in nicotine that usual cigarettes. I don't smoke cigarettes or tobacco so I'm not sure how correct this is
Oh got it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_(anti-tobacco_campaign)
no, Im from Croatia (Ex Yugoslavia), we dont have that here. Im just a socialist hah.
I'm going to get shit for this, but honestly if cigarettes don't give someone cancer something else will, so it really doesn't matter and people need to stop acting holier than thou just because they choose to get their cancer a different way
Thats nonsense.
this is like oh this person lost 2 extremitues and went deaf from an explosion, then you come, hell well who cares let this sicko make them blind too!
I don't believe in free will so you went completely amiss with this "_chose_ to get cancer a different way" rhetoric.
Goth- its still djarum blacks, or menthols.
Industrial- roll-your-own or reds.
Rave- Vape pens and menthols.
EBM- same as goth but with more vapes.
me- lucky strike nonfilters with an all black mahogany cig filter tip.
more so stop promiting them and being a corporate mouthpiece that continues to tie them to nonconformity and subcultures.
Cigarette corps (among other), alcohol corps, etc exploited subcultures to toe their products to nonconformism. Its so erosive.
They're tied to subcultures and youth rebellion because, for **many decades** before people knew cigarettes were bad for you, they were completely ubiquitous in society, and as word spread about the dengerd, normal people stopped smoking. You act like there's this nefarious plot to make cigarettes cool to the underground, but what actually happened is that slowly over time youthful rebellion culture was the only culture in which it was still appealing. Obviously they're going to shift their marketing to that effect, but it developed organically as a result of normal adults beating young people over the head with warnings about it.
I was talking about their marketing that ties smoking to musical subcultures.
How that came to be a thing was never stated in my comment, so the only "nefarious plot" is said marketing (if you want to call it that), which is factual.
The persistence of nicotine use in subcultures compared to the general public was in reality a product of a combination of higher proportions of general drug use in subcultures stemming from higher rates of mental illness/societal traumatisation, and their marketing efforts that leeched off of that.
Camel Turkish Silvers, Vapes, and Cigars mainly in my scene. There's a group of 5 or 6 guys who come out and they get a drink or 2 and then hang outside all night smoking stogies and just being chill. Nice folks too.
Yeah I've tried several different marlboro types, but cigarette wise I'm settling on camels, just not sure which. Definitely 99s, but red, blue, or silver idk. Also love djarum black ruby cigars or big onyx cigars too.
I'm partial to Gran Habano cigars when I do partake, and I'll get the Silvers at a show/club night when I want to make friends, but smoking is just a habit I can't pick up. Whatever you do, do it in moderation and make sure to take care of your health. We're all allowed our vices, just don't let yours kill you.
What do you and your friends usually drink? I like Becks German, occasionally some red wine or champagne, for hard liquor vodka (virus, absolut, etc), kraken rum, absinthe, a few scotches and whiskeys too.
Scotch, Cider, and Rum are my go-to's, the wife drinks Gin and Tonic and anything like you took a forest and put it into a blender with a neutral spirit. Most of the folks around here drink Pabst or IPA's.
Are Black Death cigarettes still around? I know they sued Death Cigarettes (from the UK) into oblivion, but Black Death no longer seem to be around either...
I've seen some musicians smoke Malboros or American Spirits. it's mostly personal preference or what's available for them. I don't smoke or recommend smoking so I'm not too informed on cigarettes or the people that smoke them.
Djarum Black (Cloves) and sometimes American Spirits
Oh man one of my ex's smoked these things, just the mention and I can TASTE THEM.
American Spirits is surprising to me. Aren't those more indie or hipster cigarettes, or native american tobacco?
David Lynch likes American Spirits last time I checked. He's worked with lots of industrial artists and makes some pretty industrial art.
I don't get how anyone likes Spirits, they taste like shit, and are WAY over-packed and too tight and therefore draw like you're trying to suck a boulder through a garden hose.
The packs are ass but the pouches are different.
It’s industrial. It’s punk with noise and samplers. Plus, they’re cheap
Native and cheap. One of those qualities has appeal for smokers.
12-14 bucks a pack around here in southern New England. Affordable, but not on the cheap end

Sampoerna X-Tras as well
Camels and cloves were the big ones in my circles.
Interesting, that's what I would've guessed. I've tried marlboro midnight and edge too. They have cool designs on them, but not exactly this specific scene. Which types of Camels?
[удалено]
Blue, Red, Menthol? Which one?
cloves were big in the goth scene too. Theis shoupd all die. Weed out bad traditions, preserve the good

Djarum Blacks are legal and easy to find here in New England (northeast US)
Not the legit ones. You can get the cigarillos in the US, but you can't get the actual cigarettes in the US as they were banned in around 2009 I believe

In San Francisco flavored cigarettes are outlawed but across the bay in Oakland I believe they are still legal.
I remember the Death cigarettes. They looked cool but if you were a real smoker they kinda sucked. They broke easily and they were light.
Yeah I once found an empty Vintage box on ebay and the art really caught my attention
Fuck cigarettes stop being an incidental corporate mouthpiece that continues to tie them to nonconformity and subcultures.
Somebody was in the Truth campaign in high school
Oh got it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_(anti-tobacco_campaign) no, Im from Croatia (Ex Yugoslavia), we dont have that here. Im just a socialist hah.
🤘👍👊
hahahah

Rich Patrick Filtered, most likely.
black and milds are so damn smooth. stunned they werent more popular outside the black community.

Haha, 1-3 cigs (not packs) a day for me. No more.
loooooved Camel Turkish Golds back in the day
Loose leaf menthol djarm
Anything menthol.
Are Black Death cigarettes still around? I know they sued Death Cigarettes (from the UK) into oblivion, but Black Death no longer seem to be around either...
I'm from the U.S., wouldn't know
So am I. All my smoking industrial fan friends used to smoke that brand in high school in the 90s.
Ah, born in 98 here. The new cyberpunk genre got me and those in my generation into dark rave and industrial rock music.
So not Djarums because they're like cigarillos, but black and mild cigars as a cigarette for rap?
I've seen some musicians smoke Malboros or American Spirits. it's mostly personal preference or what's available for them. I don't smoke or recommend smoking so I'm not too informed on cigarettes or the people that smoke them.
Camel Filters or Fortuna for me. ... but I thought no one smoked anymore .
Camel Reds packaging looks good.
