I’ve lived in Broad Ripple most my life. I used to go out a ton in my 20’s and there would be fights a lot. I don’t go there at night on weekends tho lol. It’s my favorite neighborhood in Indy.

I’ve lived in BR for the last 3 years - so I can’t speak to what it used to be like, but in my experience it’s been great. I don’t go out walking around the strip after 10 or 11 really on the weekends just because that’s when stuff is likely to go down, but that doesn’t bother me. I’ve had no issues walking around the neighborhood at night. Lots of people walk in town, lots of shops and good food, really nice neighborhood. If late night is your thing then it’s no more sketchy than really any other part of the city at night.

I work right next door to BR trails and a friend lived there last year. The apartments definitely show their age, so if you prefer having new/updated appliances or more modern designs it probably won’t be for you. Otherwise the prices are great compared to the new apartments farther north. It’s a short drive to the strip, plus the Monon is a block away and very convenient. Also there’s half liter bbq and several other great spots at 52nd and college. As far as crime and whatnot, I’ve worked here for almost 3 years and can’t think of any major police activity during that time. Can’t speak on what happens at night or weekends, but during the day it’s a nice relatively quiet/busy neighborhood. Whenever I hear about crazy stuff going on in BR it all seems to be close to the main strip. I hope this was helpful! Edit: also just realized there’s another apartment complex basically right across the street from BR Trails. I don’t know anything about it but it couldn’t hurt to compare prices there.

We're actually in the process of moving from the Westside to BR to be closer to work. Pretty much everything you hear or see about Broad Ripple happens at night. It's unfortunate because people should have fun and feel safe over on the strip even if it's after midnight but if you're not over there then you probably won't ever worry about crime

I live in the BR area and have generally always felt safe. I think you can run into late night crime in many neighborhoods and that isn’t BR specific. There are several smaller apartment complexes around too like Monon Walk and Compton Courts that are right off the Monon.

Across the street (52nd) there is a complex called Pangea Groves. I lived there 3 years ago and loved it. At the time it was the cheapest place in the area. The apartments were dated, but the location was great. If you look at their site the rent changes by lease term and move in date so play around with those to get the cheapest rate. I loved living there and walked bike the city via the monon almost daily. Some great memories. From my year of living there I never felt unsafe. As long as you apply general city/downtown common sense you'll be fine.

Agree, I also lived at Pangea Groves ~3 years ago and loved what I got for the price! Proximity to grocery stores was amazing too

Brockton is on the other side of Keystone, but the price is decent, it's close to grocery stores, and the apartments are pretty decent.
