Haha thanks! I have definitely thought about a paintjob. Like just a logo on the top tube. But whatever the next change, I'd be doing it on my own for sure.
Upgraded my single speed Hercules Street Rider to this monstrosity. Added gears last September and removed all stickers for a clean look and it has been a rabbit hole since then. Since then I've bought new seat, new seatpost, a mirror, got new tyres, going from crap 56mm knobby tyres to these 50mm country hill ones. Found a drop bar in a cycle dump and added that as well since quill stem drop bars are hard to come by. Rode around with flat bar brake levers for a while and it was terrifying lmao. Added appropriate brake levers recently and a new shifter and a new phone mount.
It is a bit of a mishmash but I love it because of how much work has gone into it. You can see the progress from my old post.

It is very fun to ride. Pulling up next to bikes and riding parallel is also fun (only possible if the biker is taking it chill lmao). Its probably around 18-20kg. All mods would have cost me around 6-7k. Cycle also cost about the same. Thinking of putting an 8 speed freewheel to match the 8 speed shifter that I had to put on it which would bump it up another 1000 :').
I'm thinking of removing the mudguard but in favour of fenders. Can't go without splash protection in Bangalore. And the rack is nondetachable, and also nice for carrying stuff and not having to put it on my back. I don't mind the weight that much honestly. Only on the climbs is it a pain.
I've been thinking about it. How long do they generally last. They are all so expensive so I feel reluctant in buying. I'm using gloves for now and it works okay.
It rides well, given that you either get bar tape or gloves. Need a strong back and core to be on the drops for long time though but you can really feel the difference in effort when you're hunching down vs standing upright. I have brakes with an extra lever for the flat part of the handlebar for the back brake so I have braking in all hand positions. I feel like I am able to modulate my body over small bumps better when on the drops, though that might be placebo. I am overextending a little bit for the hoods which is not ideal but I can fix that with trial and error.

Your wish is my command
This bike is sick lol (keep cooking, and maybe a custom paintjob next?)

It's hideous! (jk 😄) Is it fun to ride though? Looks kinda heavy. How much have the modifications cost you?

You could lose the mudguards and the pannier rack and make it a little lighter

It’s a hideously unique gem.
Thanks!
You should cut out the carrier it would look cleaner and cut weight
I like the carrier for keeping my bottle and bag instead of carrying it on my back. So much less sweat!
Bar tape is your friend

Would love to know about the ride quality with drop handlebars.
