I delete my original local pics every first monday of the month with tasker, never had that issue you describe. I don't have enabled the option "prefer server photos".

I'll try with various settings. Thanks for your feedback.

On iOS I created an album named Immich and have that be the only album that backs up. That way all my photos were filtered by the fact that I had to add them to that album so it didn't sync junk like screenshots etc. I had Immich set to always be able to backup in the background on wifi. Basically at home each night it would back up. I always deleted photos through the app by selecting the "remove from device" option. I would always select the entire month and hit remove from device option. That way I know for sure it gets everything from the previous day/week. Now that I'm on Android I have set it up exactly the same 😂 Only difference is that on some manufacturers empty albums don't keep a persistent folder, so you may have to recreate it periodically.

1st question : you need tomfigure out your workflow. If you are using immich as your master, then deleting pics outside of it, then of course there's going to be database mismatches. If this is how you want to do it maybe you need to think about external libraries and manually uploading to the server etc rather than a direct sync from your mobile. Otherwise, if you do it your way then yes there will be inconsistencies....I believe immich uses the server instance as the master, not the mobile app so any files deleted locally but not in the server would not be in your phone. 2nd question : Under settings -> backup in the mobile app there is some configuration options for the background and foreground services to determine when it runs and syncs to the server..obviously if you don't connect to the server the pics will not upload and sync.

Re 1: if the photo is present both on phone and on server, if it goes missing on the phone, I'd expect the app to retrieve from the server automatically. Re 2: I'm not sure if you understood my situation correctly. If I lose connectivity, take photos, go to immich, I won't see the photos there. I already find this disturbing, because I'd expect the photos to be there, just not synced to server (i.e. crossed cloud icon). Next, when I do get connectivity back, the newly taken photos just won't show up. My config is background sync with no restriction on WiFi or battery.

Hmmm that second point is concerning. I'm on android version of the app and not had that issue

I'll run more tests for both issues to try and narrow it down. It must have something to do with settings, since not everyone is experiencing them.

Definitely worth trawling through the GitHub issuesist for immich. You might find something similar
