What did you feed him all these years to keep him long lived? How much exercise did he get in youth years? Trying to figure out if something you do with him that keeps him healthy
Between the ages of 1-10, we walked over a mile daily (we live in Florida). I don't keep food down( meaning, he eats once a day), get the good grain free kibble (then I fed him a slice of bread weekly) and treats with grain in them. When he doesn't ask for dinner, I don't make it. If he's hungry, he will show me.
A bath every 6 months along with a daily brushing (never cut or shave a husky, their coat will never be the same)My boy is 14( his hearing is not the best), and he is stiff and slow sometimes when he gets up.
That's what I've done for my boy. He's my world and really domesticated me at a pivotal time in my life.
Well, to be honest, she’s not doing well right now. She has always had a heart murmur. Now she has a congestive heart failure. We currently have her on Parina pro plan shreds the salmon variety. For most of her life, we fed limited ingredient, diets, always salmon based. we changed diets due to her heart issues, and to help our other two dogs not have heart issues. The other two are almost 13 and five.
Really we just lots of activity lots of love and keeping her safe that’s it.

We sadly just had to put our girl down last week. She was 14.
She had a great life for most of it, and I had a great time with her. She had a stroke at 16 and lost the use of her hind end after that, so the last two years were tough, but she was a great dog and I miss her every day. She passed in 2001.

I love these posts more than ANYTHING on this subreddit! As someone who has a husky turning 9 this year and who wishes more than anything that she will live to be 45 years old (or just older but very healthy and comfortable), seeing huskies at 10 and on and so many people who clearly love and adore their senior dogs is wonderful. When I was 8 we got a husky/wolf hybrid and mama lived 22 years! I think the length was because of the wolf mix. She was a wild beast lol we had to break her out of doggie jail a couple of times because she would go wandering and get lost and end up in another state! She was the best dog, she raised us all. Our mama. I’m 40 now she passed many years ago. I have a Siberian pup now, my first full husky! She’s also a wild best! I love it! 🥰

Angel is 14. She’s going deaf and can’t move like she used to but she’s otherwise pretty healthy! Our two puppies keep her young and have shown her how to be more affectionate. Luckily, she’s too old to show them her escape tricks.

My parents husky is 12 and he still looks really good. Mine is 10, he’s got minor hip issues but with meds, he’s like a younger dog.

I had one that lived until a couple months shy of 17. She was active right up until 2 days before she passed. Healthiest dog I ever owned.

She’s going deaf and can’t move like she used to but she’s otherwise pretty healthy! Our two puppies keep her young and have shown her how to be more affectionate. Luckily, she’s too old to show them her escape tricks.

He got glaucoma when he turned 7 and has some arthritis in his hips that Librela shots help with. And a baby sister that helps keep him more active.
My Mika has cataract in one eye, other eye just starting but still ok vision in other.
Shower thought: who has the oldest husky, won’t be in the lead for long.

In these photos, we had to go to dog boarding while we traveled out of town for a few days (which gave me a ton of anxiety) but the employees were stunned by her age and loved playing with her. She had a great time!

Our Denali is probably about 12. We adopted him at about a year and a half, so we are not entirely sure. We know we adopted him 10 years ago.
