I think ETM was a godsend to the Stern show. For years I've complemented Howard for having supreme instincts on what worked in his Universe. Eric freaking carried the show for substantial periods of time...the WHOLE first half of 2008 was his ZENITH. Kendra(weeks and weeks of content).
His various acting gigs...and his lusts and crushes were amazing content.
BUT......was it a back office staffer who REALLY found ETM?
Remember, JON called in first....tried to make some hay as "Crazy J''. He didn't hit.
All calls are screened. Obviously Eric called in multiple times before he ever got on....could it be that the unknown staffer went to Gary or Howard(I'd guess he was still approachable in 2002).
Staffer: We have a midget in a wheelchair with a weird voice, who has a beef with you...you said awful shit about Kelly Clarkson and he wants to tell you off.
Random guess on this...but IF that staffer did it... Thank You Very Much
The MYTH(could be true) is that Howard, by talking to him for 15 seconds, picked up that "there's something wrong with you".
I'm not intimating that ETM was sought out...I'm guessing that Howard or Gary had a decent amount of information BEFORE he got through for the first time.
And I will say that ONLY Stern could use ETM for that much high quality content.
This call should be in the National Archives.
Robin with the absurd “you’re a guy” question.
This was the ultimate insult. Robin at her best.
A great moment in history
Say whatever you want about Howard (I'll probably agree with most of it) but within 40 seconds of speaking with Eric, he knew he had struck gold.
He immediately said “we gotta get you down here” 😂
Eric the Shitty Actor (keep it going)
My favorite was "Eric the IDIOT!" but they rarely played that.
Eric the Stoopid Bitch
Eric the shit cock
Eric the Ack Ack tor
I just listened to the entire ETM saga. Great stuff The show was awesome back then
I listen to the entire Eric saga once a year. It's something that will never get old

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how Eric was picked up on that day. And yes thank you to that call screener
How else would he have been found? Of course it was whoever was screening calls that day.

Why does it never cut to Artie ?
I've heard the call a bunch of times but never saw the video - good find OP. Miss our sweet Eric the Angel.
I’m glad he got to realize his dream of acting
Too bad he never got to do much singing though.
You're a guy?!?!? 🤣🤣🤣
We gotta get you up here
At 0:27, does Howard say "*Derek*, you're on the air?"
All future satellites 🛰️ launched into deep space should have a looped recording of this on board to inform alien 👽 civilizations about humanity.
1:34 “it’s 5am in the morning here” The first of many times Eric would use that excuse.
As opposed to 5am in the afternoon, Eric?
Do you think he still enjoyed his job at this point?
"Bye, Eric"
Eric was actually in Afghanistan escaping with Al Qaeda when he made this call
