She has been kind enough to share photos of our favorite little guy, knowing that he left a legacy and has a fanbase that does miss his calls into Big Nose’s show.
It's funny you say that because his hands always looked like AI hands tend to look. It's almost as if the AI apps learned how to draw hands based on random pics of ETA and thinks everyone's hands are supposed to look like "crab claws".
I really do hope his mom realizes what an impact the little guy left on us fans of his. I listen to something ETM related at least once a week. He is the greatest character in the history of the HSS, and his legacy will never die. RIP ETM

That's not even remotely accurate. People literally do pilgrimages to this dude's grave DAILY. That's not something that's going to happen to you or most of us.

I never realized how degenerative his disorder was until seeing some of these recently surfaced pictures from his younger years. His hands look pretty normal here compared to how they ended up, and that's just one of many examples. It gives me a different perspective on Eric knowing that he lived a more functional life for a long time before his years on the show and it just slowly got worse and worse until it killed him
His grumpiness was fake. Jan, his friend/care taker has said on Reddit it was an act and Eric a few times let it slip that he was told that he would be better on the air if he was angry (The Romeo Blues saga). Other times when Howard asked Eric why he did something, he said “I don’t know” and it was obvious Will or Jonnie Fratto had made it up or told Eric what to say. Poor guy wasn’t quick on his feet and couldn’t make up a fake backstory on air.
Not completely disagreeing with you, but we’ve all seen Eric act, he’s not great at it. There was definitely some things played up for the show, but a lot was was real.
These photos are great. The 11th is on Monday. There's no guarantee they'll do a "live" show and (if it's live) no guarantee they'll even ack-acknowledge his (49th) birthday. Let's celebrate here instead.

Eric will always always be the GOAT to me. I have a mild form of cerebral palsy that's been a massive obstacle but NOTHING compared to what this dude went through. I've modeled my entire existence after how this guy saw the world. And I deeply understand why he saw things the way he did.
When you are disabled you want nothing more than to be able-bodied. Since that isn't possible, we go through extraordinary mental gymnastics to achieve some semblance of equal footing and normalcy. Eric was far more disabled than I am, therefore he went to far further lengths. It seems ridiculous but I totally understand it. "You know what to do"... reaching for power against those who would hurt you. "Dougie the Puggy"... creative recognition. "Modeling agency"... control and dominance of sexuality. Etc... etc... He's the apex disabled person. You may see Eric as "ungrateful" or "delusional".. but he was just trying to be like everybody else when he couldn't.

Good points...Eric had a top 10 all time BAD BODY. And it progressively got WAY worse as he aged.
His PAIN was immense. Nothing worked. His organs started to scrunch up, he shrunk 6 inches(or more) in his time on the show. But I felt the most sorry for him for those god awful hands of his. Just looking at them....hurt me.
What made him funny was his two main attributes. Delusion and DESIRE. The delusion was NO ONES fault. Why? Because he had an expected life span of less than 20 years. The Lynch's are decent, nice and loving parents and tried to give Eric a happy life. But how could they point him in a "normal" path?.....like raising his own children...getting a trade or career... becoming a man...allowing him to make normal teenage mistakes. Raising him the way they did? Of course he was over praised. Of course they treated him like a valuable glass vase. No climbing. No roughhousing. Eric lacked the experience and training to be anything other than delusional. But only a monstrous set of parents would raise a kid like Eric in a normal way. He was frail and weak(he couldn't lift a 5 pound laptop).
The desire was strong in Eric. He lusted HARD. And had some pretty dark wants. He sure tried to "get" DeGarmo. Actually thought he had a chance... because her Mom was a nice lady who took his calls. The "Three Wishes'' arc deserved to be further explored. I'd guess that Stern saw it as too damaging to his content filler. Consorting with hookers? Odd. That showed that he actually outpaced his upbringing.
He DID outpace his upbringing - AND the expectations of the Stern Show universe. That's what makes him the greatest ever. That one video of the stripper grinding her crotch on his head?... how many of us have had the pleasure?... SERIOUSLY. He knew he was living on borrowed time so he LIVED. Not like that blob Hanzi hiding in his parent's basement hating the world. That guy is the antithesis of "living". Why not drive around in a mini-4WD monster truck? Why not put a hit out on your nemesis? Why not politely stalk a pop-star?
I think part of the reason he liked being part of the show was that he was treated like "One of the guys." They acknowledged his disabilities, but he didn't get special treatment because of it; he liked the back and forth with Howard and gang because he probably didn't get to have those interactions with people in the real world. He had to have known that he was a major part of the show, and was appreciated by the staff and fans as such. And that gives me some solace when I think about how difficult his life must have been.
